The Indian team that reached Sri lanka a few days back for the upcoming limited-over series took part in their first training session in the island nation under the able guidance of head coach Rahul Dravid.
The team led by veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan is without big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma among others. Despite that, the team is a great blend of youth and experience, with players like Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal all part of  the squad.

Despite lacking some of their star players, the side is more than capable of not just giving any team a run for their money but also winning the series.
A tour by an Indian cricket team generates a lot of revenue for any cricket board and the Sri Lankan cricket board should be thanking the BCCI for agreeing to send their side despite such a busy schedule.

Instead of praising the BCCI, Sri Lankan legend Arjuna Ranatunga chose to go the other way round and criticised the Sri Lanka Cricket Board for hosting a ‘second-string’ side.
"This is a second-string Indian team and their coming here is an insult on our cricket. I blame the current administration for agreeing to play with them due to television marketing needs," Ranatunga told reporters, according to PTI.

The 1996 World Cup-winning captain also disrespected the Indian team, which is currently being coached by Indian batting great Rahul Dravid, by calling them a 'weak' side.

"India sent their best team to England and sent a weaker side to play here. I blame our board for that," said the former Sri Lanka skipper.

Meanwhile, Indian fans didn’t take Ranatunga’s comments too kindly and tore into him for disrespecting the Indian team and its players. The Sri Lankan team, that was in England for a limited-overs series, was thrashed in the first five matches, with the final match on the tour scheduled for July 4.
Wait for the bigger insult, when the same Indian team defeats you in your own backyard.
    — Anubhav Prabhakar (@AapkaAnubhav) July 2, 2021Btw the biggest insult is that you are a permanent member of ICC. Worse than any associate nation in terms of quality of cricket.
    — Siddharth Bansal (@cricFan12987) July 2, 2021India needs practice and wants to check bench strength and SL board needs financial boost. Thats good. What is shame in this tour. Shame should be on saga of SL board and player's behaviour.
    — Dilip Kadam (@DilipKdm) July 2, 2021Lmao shikar, bhuvi, pandya,, shaw, manish pandey, etc... Have been part of our main side in big tours and he calls this team 2nd string wtf.
    — flexninja (@omenkiller2222) July 2, 2021Yaa, We should have send our u-19 team instead
    — Shiv Singh (@I_am_shiv05) July 2, 2021What about actually improving quality of your circket?
    — Siddharth Bansal (@cricFan12987) July 2, 2021Rona-tunga
    — Rahul (@Rsimmba) July 2, 2021Wow khud ki team hi hai insult cricket pe wo khud hi har ke insult krwa rhe h itni bekar team h hamari B team bhi lakh guna achi h inki team se to
    — Saloni Thakur (@SaloniT21340096) July 2, 2021Let the Sri Lanka team win a single match against this *so-called second string* Indian team first, then we will talk.
    — sohom (@AwaaraHoon) July 2, 2021This IND team would be enough to beat current SL team. First improve your national team.
    — சிவம் (@mlingamsiva) July 2, 2021Indian second string playing against team like sl is itself an insult to India's team
    — Levi (@Captain_L_e_v_i) July 2, 2021They didn't prepared second string SL team when they used to be greatest team with Sanga Jayawardena Dilshan Malinga. And now their main team itself looks like third string team.
    — Surya Selvam (@ImSurya_S) July 2, 2021Sad that SL can’t even field a top class first string team these days and Indian second string side looks solid enough to be world champions on their own!
    — Shantanu Bapna (@sbapna29) July 2, 2021he is scared coz our 2nd string team will humiliate them
    — ÅÄ (@cricketfreak009) July 2, 2021We should have sent a ranji team imstead

Apart from humiliating losses, the immature behaviour of three of their players Kusal Mendis, wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella and Danushka Gunathilaka brought further disrepute to the country.

All three of them were suspended after they were captured anonymously roaming around in the streets of Durham without masks and with cigarettes in their hands, and were sent back home in the middle of the series.

Familiar faces in Durham tonight, enjoying their tour! Obviously not here to play cricket, this video was taken at 23.28 Sunday. Disappointing performance by these cricket players but not forgetting to enjoy their night at Durham. RIP #SrilankaCricket #KusalMendis #ENGvSL pic.twitter.com/eR15CWHMQx

Indian supporters further urged the Sri Lankan great to focus on improving the quality of the Lankan team, which is going through a tough phase right now and can’t compete not just with the world-class teams but even the minnows.

You’ve done it, I have done it, chances are that your parents would have done it in their time too, except back then it was called “cutting cold turkey and marrying someone else” and nowadays it is called- ‘ghosting’.
A dating trend that was perhaps single-handedly responsible for the rise in demand for closure among millennials.
Up until now, ghosting came about as one of the most cruel ways to end a relationship where either of the two people dating would simply pretend to vanish off the face of the earth and abstain from keeping any contact whatsoever. No texts, no calls, no DMs, nothing.

Imagine being in a relationship with someone you have suddenly lost all interest in. Sounds a little too familiar?

The butterflies have died, sparks ended and what once felt like something special now only feels like an obligation you carry around with yourself.
You want things to end desperately but the pressure of having ‘the talk’ and upsetting the other person profoundly doesn’t make you want to pull the plug yet. In fact, it never will and so, you decide to sneak your way out of the relationship by pulling off what is being called a ‘slow fade’.
A trend where one person decides to end the relationship, but doesn’t convey it to the other in so many words, as he does through actions.

You see, while in ‘ghosting’, the sudden cut off is as harsh as it is ruthless, it would end up bringing both the parties to the same page, whether or not they liked it. No reading in between the lines, no room for interpretation, and most importantly - no leading on.

Whereas in the slow fade, a person makes use of underhand methods to drive their relationship to a 'seemingly' natural end, instead of when in reality, they were the one orchestrating it all along. They gaslight their partners into thinking everything is well and rosy, all the while they are slowly retracting themselves from the relationship, leaving their partners confused, full of uncertainty and emotionally insecure.

The entire charade of the slow fade, of pretending to be with someone only to not really be with them, makes it a cowardly approach, one that is certainly not worth ruining someone’s peace of mind over.

Which is why, no matter how hard that ‘we need to talk’ message is to send, or how anxious you are thinking about confronting your partner, it is better to rip the bandaid once and for all, than to keep running with a wound that you have no intention of letting heal.

It’s been an isolating year and a half for many of us. The immediate euphoria and simultaneous fear that engulfed most people during the initial parts of the pandemic has slowly receded. The determination and energy that people had when lockdowns first began have increasingly worn down to be replaced with an eerie lull, a strange sense of languish.
It doesn’t matter if you’re an introvert or an extrovert, the pandemic and its cavalcade of side effects have changed our lives in more ways than one. Though not all is bleak, with each passing day, we get closer to the possibility of reconnecting with friends and family who were once familiar to us.
People look differentWhen you revisit your friends remember that they may not look the way you’re used to seeing them. Many jumped on the fitness bandwagon and were able to keep themselves motivated to meet their goals. This isn’t true for everyone though. Whether it be because of COVID or otherwise, your friend’s weight may have fluctuated, and trust me they’re aware of it as well. The last thing they need is for you to obtrusively remind them of that.

People Behave DifferentlyTime since 2020 hasn’t been easy for us mentally. For people who were already affected by mental health struggles, their difficulties have only further compounded with pandemic related fears. To you it might look like a previously confident friend transforming into a nervous wreck or a soft spoken friend who is unable to keep their worries to themselves anymore. Several lost their loved ones to COVID, many are still reeling from the after effects of its infection. Don’t disregard the mental impact of the pandemic on others. Offer them support and not judgment.

A New NormalThe pandemic changed the financial realities of many. Places that were once affordable either don’t exist anymore, or are no longer affordable because people’s livelihood has been gravely impacted. There also has been an increase in medical expenses across the spectrum. Things have changed, and we can make them feel secure and confident enough to tackle this difficult time in life.

Sense Of Safety Is Still ImpairedTread carefully. Even if things seem better, remember that it will take a longer and concerted global effort to completely eradicate the COVID19 virus or at least till the extent it becomes a lesser evil. Take all the necessary precautions, keep yourself and your friends safe. Rekindle the equation digitally and move onwards once it’s safe and comfortable for you. No pressure!

The True Impact Of Covid Is Yet To Be FeltThe novel nature of this disease was one of the primary causes for global concern as there was limited information around it. 18 months on, we definitely know more, but in the grand scheme of things it’s still too soon to know the true impact of COVID. So if your friends, family or the people around you have been impacted by it, treat them with kindness and care. It’s been an especially difficult journey for them.

Thanks to aggressive vaccine drives, as well as increasing information around the virus, in a not so distant future, we may be able to revisit and nurture the warmth of friendships long forgotten. These equations that were unfortunate collateral damage to the pandemic now give us the opportunity to learn and grow from them.
