We all have our quirks. No matter your upbringing, your personality, or even how present you are in the eyes of the public, it’s undeniable that we all do things that others might find weird. Still, there are sometimes when a famous personality reveals a quirk of their own that leaves the public baffled.
Sometimes these are simple quirks that the celebrity has grown used to over time, and sometimes these are habits they cultivated due to dedication, superstition, or in their pursuit of success or beauty. Either way, these little tidbits never fail to arouse curiosity among us; and it was that curiosity that led us to discover these interesting habits some of the most well-known personalities have.
If you’re like us, then here are some things that’ll make you intrigued, perplexed, and grossed out in equal measure.
    1. Tom Cruise’s skincare routine includes using Nightingale droppings on his face Β© Reuters
I know, people put weird stuff on their face all the time, but bird droppings? And apparently this bird poop facial, called Geisha facial, was popularised by Victoria Beckham herself. Honestly, if I wanted bird droppings on my face I’d just leave my building and look up.

    2. In a similar vein, Snooki has confessed to putting cat litter on her face Β© Reuters
Well… at least this is less expensive than the nightingale poop? Don’t reach for your cat’s used litter, though! She has specified that β€œit has to be clean kitty litter. It can’t be like poo.” If you own a cat, you could just order an extra bag for yourself, I suppose. I don’t know, man, I don’t know.

    3. Robert Pattinson didn’t use to wash his hair Β© Reuters
Although things might have changed since, Robert Pattinson once admitted that he didn’t β€œreally see the point in washing your hair” when asked whether he really went six weeks without washing his hair once. Still, he seems to have turned over a new leaf now.

    4. Megan Fox forgets to flush the toilet Β© Reuters
Once, we could understand, twice, perhaps… but so bad that it becomes a habit? And it’s not just flushing, the actress has admitted to having bad living habits in general. β€œI’m horrible to live with. I don’t clean. My clothes end up wherever I take them off. I forget to flush the toilet,” she once said. Eww! Okay then!

    5. Kesha once drank her own urine saying β€œit’s good for you” Β© MTV
Don’t believe us? It’s there in her docu-series My Crazy Beautiful Life to see! Yup, the clip is forever going to haunt our memories, even if the star had only done it once.

    6. Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t take off his shoes until he goes to bed, and sometimes not even then Β© Pinterest
He once said, β€œAs soon as I have worn my jeans after a bath, I wear my shoes and socks. I don’t take them off till I am in bed. I never wear slippers. My feet should always be covered. Sometimes even when I am lying on the bed, I wear shoes.”

    7. Sandra Bullock puts hemorrhoid cream on her face Β© Reuters
Yup, Bullock said the cream helps in getting rid of puffy eyes. β€œI didn’t realize that putting hemorrhoid ointment on your face is acceptable in the beauty business,” she said, adding that β€œapparently butt cream does help lines around the eyes."

    8. Yoshiro Nakamatsu thinks of ideas when he’s β€œclose to death” Β© Wikipedia
The Japanese inventor with over 3,500 patents to his name claims he has his best ideas β€œ0.05 seconds before death”. Apparently oxygen deprivation while diving underwater is a big part of his creative process… but hey, it seems to work for him. Don’t go looking for the nearest pool though, please! Let’s leave this tactic to the expert.

    9. Haruki Murakami’s daily routine is hellish and will make lazy people like us sob Β© britannica
This might be less weird and more soul-crushing, but the author has said he has a fixed routine when he’s writing a book. β€œI get up at 4:00 am and work for five to six hours. In the afternoon, I run for 10 km or swim for 1500 m (or do both), then I read a bit and listen to some music. I go to bed at 9:00 pm. I keep to this routine every day without variation,” he once said.

(TMI: The author of this article tried it, and gave up 6 minutes into the 10k run. Also, no one sleeps at 9 pm.)
Which of these habits freaked you out the most? Do you have what it takes to try any of these wild habits? Tell us in the comments below!

Just when we were almost on the verge of getting back to normalcy, or so we thought, the second wave hit us, and it hit us harder than we thought it was capable of. The country is reeling from the sudden shock, once again, and it's mayhem all around. There is death everywhere, and there seems to be no respite in sight. All we can do right now is be kind to one another, follow COVID protocol,Β and hope for the best.

One more thing that we need to do, with utmost urgency, is to be prepared for the worst. With the number of cases rising every single day, it's only a matter of time before it's our own/our family's turn. With hospitals being already crowded and beds being a luxury, home treatments seem to be the only way out for most.

Apart from following everything that doctors have advised, here are 10 small but extremely important things that a COVID positive patient should follow at home, and they can potentially save their life.

    1. Sleep on your stomach at all times if you have COVID. If that's not possible because of health issues, sleep on your side. Do NOT lay on your back no matter what, because it smashes your lungs and can allow the fluid to set in.

    2. Set your clock every two hours while sleeping on your stomach, and then get out of bed and walk for 15-30 minutes, no matter how tired or weak you feel.

    3. Move around your arms frequently, it helps to open up your lungs.

    4. Breathe in through your nose, and breathe out through your mouth. This will help build up your lungs, and also help get rid of the Pneumonia or other fluids you may have.

    5. When sitting on a recliner chair, sit up straight. Do NOT lay back as this will smash your lungs.

    6. While watching TV, get up and walk during every commercial.

    7. Eat at least 1-2 eggs a day, plus bananas, avocado, and asparagus. These are good for Potassium.
    Β© iStock
    8. Drink Gatorade or water with electrolytes to prevent you from becoming dehydrated.
    Β© iStock
    9. Do NOT drink anything cold. Either have things at room temperature, or warm them up.

    10. Try not consuming milk products or pork; and try having Vitamins D3, C, B, Zinc, probiotics etc.

Ever since he got nominated for an Emmy for his performance in Made In Heaven, Arjun Mathur has become a household name. However, there is much more to him than that. After all, he has been in the industry for 17 years.

    Β© Instagram/arjun__mathur
An immensely talented actor, who started his training at Barry John’s Acting Studio, Arjun, knew right from the beginning that he wanted to be an actor. But what kind of an actor? Well, that’s a question that perplexed him when he was younger.

    Β© Instagram/arjun__mathur
So, has he found the answer to that question? We found out when we sat with him for a riveting and free-flowing conversation, where we spoke about the changing scene of the Indian OTT space, him working as an assistant director, and his work beyond Made In Heaven. Following are the edited excerpts:

    Β© Instagram/arjun__mathur
You decided to become an actor, right after your schooling. Which actors inspired you to take up the craft?

I grew up watching the masala films of the 1980s, so that has impacted me a lot. I grew up watching actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and the three Khans. I grew up idolising them. So straight after school, it was Barry John's institute, the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York for me.
    Β© Instagram/arjun__mathur
You worked behind the camera, before taking up acting. What made you switch, or rather what made you stay with acting?

Although I am grateful for the opportunities that I got as an Assitant Director and working under the directors that I worked with, I always wanted to be an actor, that has always been the plan. I remember whenever I used to say this when I was young, the follow-up question would always be what sort of an actor. I did not have an answer back then, because I always thought, an actor is an actor, are there any differences?
    Β© Instagram/arjun__mathur
What would your answer be today, when asked what kind of an actor would like to be?

I think I want to be someone like Irrfan, and Naseeruddin Shah, actors who really know what they are doing, and have reached the pinnacle of their craft.
When you were working on Made In Heaven did you ever think that an Emmy nomination was in the cards? What was your first reaction when you received news of your nomination?Β
We never thought of that, not at least when we started working on the show. The year before we started, Inside Edge had received a nomination, so we were aware that Indian OTT shows do get nominated, they have that reach, but no one thought of anything like that while we were working. When I was told that they were sending Made In Heaven for consideration, all I thought was β€˜Oh, cool,’ and that was that, I did not give it a second thought after that. When I learnt of my nomination, it was a surreal moment, to say the least.
    Β© Instagram/arjun__mathur
Has that nomination changed how people, mainly your co-actors behave around you?Β

Not at all. I mean people, especially my directors, my fellow actors, all congratulated me, wished me well, but then, it was all back to business. On a set the focus is always on getting the job done.
Has the nomination changed the kind of roles you’re getting offered?
Yes, there have been some changes, in the sense that I get more offers now. The kind of roles has become varied as well.

The portrayal of LGBTQ characters have been sort of caricaturish, even in movies or shows that try to break stereotypes, and try to be responsible. Does that make Made In Heaven an outlier, or is the situation really changing?

I don’t think that Made In Heaven is an outlier at all. See, the people who you refer to, will continue to make such films because their sensibilities allow them to. Actors and directors whose sensibilities do not allow that sort of stuff won’t work on those projects. There have been directors who have dealt with the topic in a very sensitive, and realistic manner, without resorting to caricatures. I did a film with Onir, I am, where I played a gay character, and I think it was portrayed very realistically all with its grey and dark undertones.
    Β© Instagram/arjun__mathur
How would you say has the Hindi film industry evolved? How big was OTT’s contribution to that, or would it have happened, irrespective of OTT?

Unfortunately, our film industry is a little slow to change. However, luckily, there have been some massive changes, mainly because of the audience. For a long time, we were making the same film again, and again, we were making films by a formula and calling them masala films.Β
Now, the situation is changing, but we are not there yet. And yes, OTT platforms and OTT viewership has been instrumental in this shift. OTT platforms allow directors and artists to tell stories in an unrestrained manner. Now, with the changes in policies governing OTT platforms, that is set to change. Everyone will start playing safe, because, at the end of the day, this too is a business. Mediocrity is bound to creep in.
    Β© Instagram/arjun__mathur
We see so many actors and filmmakers get a voice and space for themselves, all thanks to OTT platforms. Is oversaturation ever a concern, or is the Indian OTT space large enough for all sorts of voices?

I personally believe that oversaturation is a concern. Take the Indian television industry as an example. Back in the 1990s and early 2000s, we had some amazing shows, with some very great concepts. Then, everything went downhill. I am afraid that something similar will happen with the Indian OTT space. I personally have to say no to about 80 per cent of the scripts that I get, because they are simply not something that I would want to get associated with, my sensibilities will not allow me to say yes to them. I think actors need to be responsible in their sensibilities, to what do they say yes to.

How challenging was making a series like The Gone Game?

It was great fun, but technically challenging as well. The show was conceptualised, shot and finished all during the lockdown. We all set up our own shots, lighting, everything, and the directors and everyone co-ordinated over video conferencing. We all had help in some way from the other. Like, my partner helped me a lot with the set-up and everything. I also happen to have the country’s best cinematographer as my neighbour, so yes, I had help. It was really a great experience, shooting our individual portions, in our separate bubbles.

What can you tell us about Lord Curzon Ki Haveli?

This is a project that I was very keen on working in. It is a dark comedy, set in a haveli, and we were supposed shoot it this year.Β  Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, we had to postpone the principal photography. We have a great cast in Parambrata (Chatterjee), Rasika (Duggal), and I am really keen on working with Anshuman (Jha). Let’s see what happens, hopefully, things get sorted soon.

Apart from Made In Heaven Season 2 & Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, what else are you working on?

Apart from these two, I am also working on The Gone Game Season 2, and U Special, a series that was commissioned by Lionsgate Play. So yeah, there are quite a few things that I am looking forward to.

An actor, is there a particular genre that you enjoy the most?Β

It is actually a funny answer. The one genre that I really want to work in, is the one genre that nobody is offering me. I really want to do something in comedy. I guess I have that image of a very serious guy, so those are the only kind of roles I am getting.
