The road to success was no bed of roses for Ranveer Singh

Not all heroes wear capes. Some just wear a uniform and go about their activities at Indian railway stations in order to make sure that passengers can reach their destinations with minimum hassle.
With most travelers swiftly making their way around station platforms to board trains on time, these heroes often become invisible to our eyes as they continue carrying out tasks laid out for them which include removing obstructions on train tracks and shunting, a process of moving a railway train from one track to another.

All in all, this is the life and times of a Pointsman working for the Indian Railways, which manages the fourth-largest railway network in the world by size.
While on most days, these hard-working men go about their work quietly, there are days we really get to know their true importance.
This is exactly what happened on the evening of last Saturday (April 17) at Vangani station in Thane district, when a child walking on the edge of a platform with his blind mother, fell onto the railway track.
According to the 30-second-long CCTV footage at the station, the 6-year-old child could be seen walking with his mother as they both neared the edge of the platform, before the kid lost his balance and fell on the tracks.
The horrific visuals showed the mother cry for help as the boy tried to climb back onto the platform with an express train thundering towards him.
Fortunately, the cries were heard by railway pointsman Mayur Shelke, who upon spotting the helpless child, jumped onto the railway track, sprinted towards the kid despite the train racing in their direction, and lifted him and himself onto the platform.
The video displayed Shelke carry out the entire rescue and narrowly escaping being hit by the rushing train.
The video was soon uploaded on Twitter by the Central Railways, who applauded the 30-year-old pointsman for his bravery.
“Mumbai Division Mr Mayur Shelkhe (Pointsman) saved the life of a child who lost his balance while walking at platform no. 2 at Vangani station." the tweet said.

— DRM MUMBAI CR (@drmmumbaicr) April 19, 2021 As soon as the video was uploaded, there was an outpour of admiration and love for Shelke, who put his life on the line to save another.
Sir, give him double promotion. He is superman, ironman and spiderman combined. Make him the hero in your ads. Reward him. I am sure Railways won't get a better man to publicise its good work.
— Rajiv Soni (@RajivSo27230734) April 19, 2021The man deserves grand salute and recognition from all big bee people starting from politicians, cine stars and corporates including his own organisation.

— The Shooter (@TheShoo74448203) April 19, 2021Quite a daring act. Should be patted by seniors. I salute him firm endangering his life saving somebody else. Humanity still alive because of such few kind humans.
— Sanjay Mote (@MoteSanjayM) April 19, 2021“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.” Grand Salute to you Sir
— Sujeet Singh (@SujeetS59450315) April 19, 2021I’m speechless. Mr Mayur Shelkhe, may God always guide you and bless you. What you’ve done is beyond bravery. You are touched by Heaven.
— bless (@bless38967316) April 20, 2021Well, all we can say is, Mr. Mayur Shelke, you are a true hero in every spirit.

Late actor Irrfan’s elder son Babil Khan, who used to share old memories and pictures of his baba on Instagram, decided to put a halt to it. One of the Instagram users noticed it and asked Babil as to when he will be sharing something more about Irrfan. He took to his Instagram stories to reveal that he no longer shares memories of his father as he used to get messages from people accusing him of using his father’s name for his own benefits.
View this post on Instagram
Babil responded to the user, “I loved sharing and then I get these DMs all the time saying that I'm using him to promote myself and that really hurts when in fact I was genuinely sharing memories to fill up the void that he left in his fans. So I'm so confused on what to do.”
He added, "I'm trying to figure out but it really hurts when random people message me saying I'm using his memory to gain clout like I needed to do that, I'm already his son, I never needed to do that to gain anything. Now I'm perplexed and a little hurt tbh. So I'll share when I feel like it's the right time.”
Here’s the screenshot:
© Instagram/Babil Khan
If he was accused of using his father’s name to promote himself, it shows that we are a part of such an insensitive society that’s too quick to judge.
On the work front, Babil will be seen in Anushka Sharma’s Netflix movie Qala and with this, he will be making his Bollywood debut.
Babil also took to Instagram to share a video clip from the sets of his debut film Qala. In the clip, he is seen shooting with Bulbbul fame actress, Tripti Dimri. He wrote, "Tripti freaking Dimri is back again!!!!!! Whooooooo!!! (and a little bit of me) Also, I’m a bit skeptical about the phrase ‘getting launched’ because the audience should launch off their seats while watching our film and not any individual actor.”

India’s COVID-19 situation is dire at the moment and in order to keep tracking your health, having a pulse oximeter at home is essential. Not only does it measure the oxygen saturation in blood, but it also helps in monitoring the health of coronavirus patients. However, with pulse oximeters getting scarce in the country, you can also invest in smartwatches and fitness bands that support SpO2 level monitoring. These smartwatches cannot replace a traditional pulse oximeter, it’s still a great gadget to have on you at all times so that it can alert users with symptoms or help in tracking mild cases:
1. Apple Watch Series 6 © Apple
If you are an iPhone user, you really can’t get a smartwatch better than the Apple Watch Series 6. The watch tracks your SpO2 levels in the background and notifies the user if it drops from the recommended level. With the Apple Watch, you can also store all of your data on the Health app which can be shared with your doctor as a PDF file. The Apple Watch Series 6 is by far the most accurate smartwatch you can get for SpO2 readings as we’ve tested results and compared it with a traditional pulse oximeter. Results are usually off by 1% which is quite impressive considering the smartwatch is not considered as traditional medical equipment.
2. OnePlus Watch © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla
If you’re looking for a cheaper offering, the newly launched OnePlus Watch is also capable of SpO2 tracking. The smartwatch works with OnePlus and other Android devices and stores all the data on the OnePlus health app. While the SpO2 tracking isn’t as accurate as the Apple Watch, it’s still a great tool to have if you are looking to invest in a smartwatch that works with Android devices.
3. Amazfit Bip U © Amazfit
The Amazfit Bip U is one of the more affordable smartwatches on this list that also has the ability to track SpO2 levels. If you aren’t looking to purchase something expensive and need a cheaper alternative that gets the job done, the Amazfit Bip U is an excellent option to consider. The smartwatch is currently available for Rs 3,999 on the company’s official website. The Amazfit Bip U surprisingly is very accurate with its SpO2 readings which work with both iOS and Android devices.
4. Realme Watch © Realme
The Realme Watch also offers a blood oxygen level monitor and costs Rs 3,499 on the company’s official website. Apart from tracking SpO2 levels, the smartwatch also offers 14 Activity tracking modes, real-time heart rate monitoring and other features.
5. Fitbit Versa 2 © Fitbit
The Fitbit Versa 2 comes with a very accurate SpO2 sensor to measure blood oxygen levels and can monitor heart rate 24/7. The smartwatch also comes with a 1.34-inch always-on display and offers up to 5 days of battery life. The smartwatch works with both iOS and Android devices and is available in Black/Carbon, Bordeaux/Copper Rose, Emerald/Copper, Petal/Copper, and Stone/Mist Grey colours. The Fitbit Versa 2 costs Rs 14,499 in India at the moment and is available on Amazon and Flipkart.

Since the second wave of novel coronavirus ‘COVID-19’ is hitting India hard, there’s always a need for resources and even gadgets that can track, monitor and even help in containing the spread of the virus. The second wave of COVID-19 has already claimed many lives and we need to take precautions to help curb the spread of the virus. From essential gadgets to online resources, we’ve compiled a list that might come in handy when facing a dire situation.
1. An Oximeter © Unsplash/mockup-graphics
The first thing you should definitely get for your home is a pulse oximeter from your local chemist or online to track your blood oxygen levels. Tracking your blood oxygen levels is crucial to determine whether you need urgent help or not. An oximeter can measure your oxygen level to utmost accuracy which should be anywhere between 92-100%. If your readings are below 92% for more than a few hours, you need immediate medical attention. Oximeters are becoming scarce in cities like Delhi, Mumbai and other metropolitan cities; however, you can still get your hands on one online.
2. Covid19India.org © MensXP
By far the most reliable, accurate and handy resource you can have at your disposal right now. The website displays information pertaining to the COVID-19 situation in India under four categories i.e. active, confirmed, recovered and deceased. You can get a detailed breakdown of your state/union territory to access more detailed information. The website offers easy to understand statistics and is updated every other hour with data gathered from all over the country.
The website also uses a crowdsourced patient database and the source of transmission for local communities. The website does not reveal identities and the data is updated every hour. You can also join the Telegram channel for contributing to the database.
3. DocOnline © DocOnline
If you are unsure about COVID-19 symptoms, you can use an automated chatbot to have yourself evaluated. The chatbot helps in classing based on risk levels i.e. low, medium or high. If your city is currently under your lockdown, you can book a free consultation via the DocOnline app or by calling 88221 26126. Doctors can directly chat with patients, chat or do a video call as well.
4. Hospital Beds in Delhi © JantaSamvad
If you are based in Delhi, the government has launched a new portal that lets you track available beds in hospitals. You can track amiable beds in Delhi hospitals by visiting https://delhifightscorona.in/beds. You can also get the link to the official app by messaging on the WhatsApp number 8800007722. The app is updated twice daily at 10 am and 6 pm with information about free beds at hospitals across the national capital. If you are in Mumbai, you can track the availability of beds by visiting https://mumgis.mcgm.gov.in/Resources/COVIDBeds/bedTracker.html.
5. Smartwatch with Oximeter/SpO2 Tracking © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla
Lastly, if you are looking to keep safe at all times, we highly recommend getting a smartwatch that has the ability to track blood oxygen levels. There are many options you can get such as the OnePlus Watch, Apple Watch Series 6, Realme Watch, Fitbit Versa 2 amongst many others to choose from. These smartwatches come in handy when you don’t have a pulse oximeter handy at home or when you’re out and about. SpO2 readings from these smartwatches are accurate enough for you to seek medical help if your blood oxygen levels go below 92%.

It’s sad that we have been hit severely once again by the novel Coronavirus and people are having a hard time fighting the pandemic. In a much-needed step, the Indian central government has lifted its singular control on the supply and delivery of Covid-19 vaccines in a bid to tackle the massive rise of cases that are ruining many lives. The government has announced that all citizens above the age of 18 will be eligible to get COVID-19 vaccine doses from May 1.
States have been given the authority to take a call to open vaccination to any category of people above the age of 18 and this decision came a day after the Prime Minister recommended that states should have the flexibility in vaccine administration and should be allowed to give doses to those who are younger than 45 years of age.
“Manufacturers would transparently make an advance declaration of the price for 50 per cent supply that would be available to State Governments and in the open market, before May 1,” the Centre said in their press statement. PM said that the Government has been working hard for over a year to ensure that maximum numbers of Indians are able to get the vaccine in the shortest possible time.
Govt of India announces liberalised & accelerated Phase 3 strategy of COVID-19 vaccination from May 1; everyone above the age of 18 to be eligible to get vaccine pic.twitter.com/7G3WbgTDy8
— ANI (@ANI) April 19, 2021
“India has been following a dynamic mapping model based on the availability of vaccines & coverage of vulnerable priority groups to take decisions of when to open up vaccinations to other age groups. A good amount of coverage of vulnerable groups is expected by April 30,” the Centre added.
It might be a relief for the government that they will able to vaccinate more and more people but youngsters are not very pleased with this decision as they feel there’s a huge shortage of vaccine in India and many from the age group beyond 45 years are left to be vaccinated. People also went on to say that vaccination is of no use as many people are getting infected with the virus even after getting vaccinated.

In another episode of 'this happens only in India', a couple was arrested after misbehaving with Delhi Police as they were stopped for not wearing a mask. They have now been booked under sections pertaining to COVID protocol violations and stopping the public servants from letting them do their duty.
However, speaking to media after the arrest, the man wasn't willing to take the blame and blamed his wife for the whole debacle.
The couple who were captured in the video fighting with the police have been identified as Pankaj Dutta and Abha Gupta.
Delhi was under a curfew over the past weekend, now extended for a week due to the dismally rising COVID cases.
According to the police, Dutta and Gupta were pulled over in Central Delhi's Daryaganj around 4:30 pm on Sunday for being in their car without masks. This is a violation of Covid guidelines in the capital where people are required to wear masks even if they are alone in the car.
Check out the video here-
This is hilarious. Man blames quarrelsome wife for refusing to wear mask.. https://t.co/0HMhIQgc9l
— Naomi Datta (@nowme_datta) April 19, 2021
Allegedly, the couple didn't even have the mandatory curfew pass. In the viral video, the couple is seen arguing with the police for being pulled over for not wearing a mask.
The man in the video said, “Can’t you understand I am in a closed car with my wife”, before the wife adds: “bewakoof bana rakha hai corona ke naam pe (they are taking us for a ride in the name of coronavirus)”.
As soon as the police asks the couple to pay the fine for not wearing masks, the woman in the video calls them 'beggars'. She was with her husband and said she could kiss him if she wanted too. The man was arrested on Sunday and the woman was arrested on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jasmeet Singh told ThePrint, "The husband and wife refused to wear masks and even misbehaved with police personnel during weekend curfew. They further obstructed the police personnel in the discharge of their duties."
The couple lives in Delhi's Patel Nagar and during the argument the woman claimed that she had cleared the UPSC Main and that her father is a sub-inspector. DCP Singh said, "We are trying to verify her claims."
However, the bizarre incident took a turn on Monday when Pankaj blamed his wife for everything that happened on Sunday. He said, "She doesn’t let me wear masks,” he told the reporter. He also said that they have been fighting over the same thing during the whole ride.
Here's what people have to say about this-
Was she audiotioning for some role? The husband’s U turn in the end was the highlight.
— Renuka Vyavahare (@renukaVyavahare) April 19, 2021Chalo atleast there won't be any kisses in near future! 🤣
— Bahulya Rishi (@BahulyaRishi) April 19, 2021If he is allowed inside the home that is.
— Piyu (@PBnrg) April 19, 2021"Wohi toh mai keh raha hu...dimaag lagaane bhi nahi deti na woh"
Hahahah, there's throwing people under the bus, and then there's this!!
— X Æ A-12 Cov-19 (@k0ol1) April 19, 2021And police is holding hands of that guy Go Corona Go
— dipesh (@beingdon157) April 19, 20211. Wearing Mask is compulsory in a public place.
2. High court has ruled that private car on road is a public space.
That is the logic.
— jaydeep desai (@jm_desai) April 20, 2021He also said, “I always wear masks when she is not around. My wife was provoking me. I haven’t abused police, she did it. I had warned her throughout to wear masks."

So what happened after Loki escaped the Avengers with the Tesseract? You’re about to find out real soon! With two trailers already out, packed with sneak peeks into a time travel adventure featuring the God of Mischief and quite a few character reveals, Marvel fans are naturally pretty hyped up for the June release.
There’s no doubt that Loki is perhaps one of the most anticipated upcoming Marvel releases, particularly since the fan-favourite character so rarely gets the opportunity to tell his own side of things. If you haven’t quite been able to keep up with all the info that’s out on the series, we’ve got your back! Here are some of the major things we know and need to keep in mind before it finally comes out.
1. Loki will return as a prisoner of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) © Marvel
At the end of Avengers: End Game, Loki escapes with the Tesseract during the Avengers’ time heist, and consequently breaks reality. Now, the TVA and Owen Wilson’s character M. Mobius enlist his help to help fix the alternate timelines. A possible timeline shows Loki sitting on the throne of Asgard.
2. This Loki is a variant — and there might be multiple variants © Marvel
“You really believe in this Loki variant?” Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s character Judge Renslayer asks M. Mobius. Loki’s jacket, too, in the second trailer spells out the word “VARIANT”. This points to the existence of other variants who might appear in the series.
3. Speaking of variants, President Loki is likely to be there © Marvel
Marvel fans will remember President Loki from a 2016 arc that served as smart political commentary on Donald Trump’s election campaign. Easily identifiable by the “Vote Loki” badge, President Loki is present in both trailers, perhaps as another variant, and looks to be in some trouble with the Sakaarian scrappers from Thor: Ragnarok.
4. The Loki logo is a big clue, according to Tom Hiddleston © Marvel
“I want to preserve the freshness of the show for when it emerges, but something to think about is the logo, which seems to refresh and restore,” the actor said in an Empire exclusive. “Loki is the quintessential shapeshifter. His mercurial nature is that you don't know whether, across the MCU, he's a hero or a villain or an anti-hero. You don't know whether you can trust him.”
He further added, “I think that shapeshifting logo might give you an idea that Loki, the show, is about identity, and about integrating the disparate fragments of the many selves that he can be, and perhaps the many selves that we are.”
5. The Loki series connects to the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film © Marvel
We already know that the Scarlet Witch will play a key role in the 2022 movie, and now it’s been confirmed that Loki will too. “I’m not sure we’ve actually acknowledged that before,” Kevin Feige, Marvel’s chief creative officer, told Bloomberg. “But it does.”
6. Loki will introduce the character of Judge Renslayer and M. Mobius © Marvel
Though some will be more familiar with Mobius than Renslayer, the trailers revealed the two characters who will be played by Owen Wilson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw respectively. The latter is closely connected to Kang the Conqueror in the comics, which might hint a possible link to Ant-Man 3 where Jonathan Majors will be playing his character.
Other confirmed cast includes Sasha Lane, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant.
7. Loki’s seen sitting with someone, who may be Black Widow, Lady Loki, or someone else entirely © Marvel
A mystery character is present in both trailers, sitting on an unknown planet that may or may not be Vormir. Of course, it’s got fans arguing whether Loki will be meeting Natasha Romanoff or if it’s another version of Loki himself, Lady Loki. I’m leaning towards the second option, but who knows, when it comes to MCU.
The first episode of Loki comes to Disney+ Hotstar on June 11, so make sure to set your reminders! Until then, have some theories you’d like to share or want to talk about something we missed? Hit us up in the comments.
