Get The Perfect Durga Puja Looks, Sorted According To The Best Trends Right Now

Durga Puja, or 'pujo' as we bongs like to call it, is a season not only for celebrating Ma Durga and spending time with loved ones, but it is also the occasion to flaunt a whole new wardrobe.  Since we were kids, we have spent the days leading up to the four days of festivities, looking for and buying just the right clothes. From the latest trends to the celeb favourites, fashion has always been a big part of the celebrations and crafting the best Durga Puja look is a big part of it.  Even though we may not be going shopping with bright-eyed excitement anymore, we still want to get the clothes right as we visit the pandals, go to restaurants, and enjoy the bhog come Ashtami morning.  This year, we are making it super easy, by curating this lookbook that is perfect for the occasion and doesn't compromise on style.  Here are the looks that we think will really up your style game this festival season:  The easy coolness of line, inspired by Vicky Kaushal © Official Instagram/Vicky Kaushal Get this look that gives off absolutely cool and effortless vibes. With a grey linen jacket with a Chinese collar, paired with a white linen shirt, this outfit is not only fashionable but also comfortable, considering how hot October can get. So keep it simple and comfortable, without compromising on the style. And in case monotone isn't your thing, then try something like a linen jacket, in a pastel colour like salmon or baby blue.   Get the look  This white linen shirt from UCB © Amazon MRP: Rs 935 Buy it here This off-white linen jacket with a Chinese collar © Amazon MRP: Rs 499 Buy it here Or, if you want a slight pop of colour, this salmon linen jacket from Jack and Jones © Amazon MRP: Rs 2,747 Buy it here This floral redux look, courtesy of Rajkummar Rao © Official Instagram/Rajkummar Rao We all know how floral has made a big comeback. And thankfully, it isn't all Hawaiian shirts or blinding prints anymore. Florals have gotten a lot classier, subtler, and easier to pull off since the 90s. Just take a cue from Rajkummar Rao's chic dark printed floral shirt, that gives off a luxury yacht party vibe. Paired with a rich-coloured blazer, this look can easily be turned into one for a night out in the city's best pubs and restaurants.  4. This UCB printed floral shirt in a slim fit © Amazon MRP: Rs 1,299 Buy it here 5. This slim fit contrasting colour © Amazon MRP: Rs 1,999 Buy it here A fresh take on what a kurta and churidar look can be like, thanks to Shahid Kapoor © Official Instagram/Shahid Kapoor Shahid Kapoor may be done with 'Udta Punjab', but he is yet to give up the urban gabru look. So embrace this traditional meets-edgy style, by pairing your well-tailored pathani suit, or khadi kurta and pyjamas, with just the right suave accessories. A classic metal dial watch, with a leather strap, will elevate the look, without making you look like you are trying too hard. And the all black converse shoes are just the right amount of edge for a look that is ultimately drawn from traditions.  6. This green cotton kurta © Amazon MRP: Rs 649 Buy it here 7. Or this pathani suit, which is a traditional take on the matching co-ords trend © Amazon MRP: Rs 1,299 Buy it here These black converse shoes to add some contemporary style © Amazon MRP: Rs 1,513 Buy it here This metal dial watch with a leather strap  © Amazon MRP: Rs 1,835 Buy it here The breezy white traditional look, perfect for Ashtami morning, inspired by Ayushmann Khurrana © Official Instagram/Ayushmann Khurrana The morning of Ashtami may not be the most happening day or part of the whole 'pujo' celebrations, but it does hold an extremely important place in our hearts.  It is the one day where all of us make a visit to the goddess, and offer her our prayers, while wearing our traditional best. But that doesn't mean you have to cut it with the overdone look of a basic kurta with pyjamas or denims. Instead, try a different cut or style of kurta, like one that is pleated, tied at the front, or with an asymmetrical hemline.  You can definitely pair it with pyjamas, or denims, but we recommend going just one step ahead, and pulling it off with a crisp ironed cotton 'dhuti.' Traditional doesn't mean boring, so don't shy away from experimenting with a kurta-pyjama look.  This white pleated kurta  © Amazon MRP: Rs 749 Buy it here This dhoti (ready to wear, to make it hassle-free) to add just the right amount of 'pujo vibes'  © Amazon MRP: Rs 799 Buy it here This metal watch from Casio © Amazon MRP: Rs 4,695 Buy it here Love these looks? Street Style At LMIFW: Day 2 Was All About Layered Silhouettes & Charming Patterns

Day 2 of the Lotus Make-Up India Fashion Week witnessed a shift in the street style vibe, that was not evidently conspicuous, but noteworthy nonetheless if you paid attention.  Street style is no longer about trying too hard or standing out amongst the crowd. It has become an avenue to express one's individuality through outfits that are essentially functional. It's all about adding the little quirks in the outfits that don't take away from it, in terms of comfort and performance.  We saw innovative silhouettes, clever layering, and playful patterns, that are clear indications of the fact that street style of the future is all about eclectic elements that are not essentially cohesive, but functional nonetheless. Here are 10 such examples:  1. Jumpsuits are here to stay with their super sleek silhouette, but will surely be accompanied by their complicated counterparts - just like the super-layered outfit here. We love those layered pants and the overall boho vibe of the outfit. © Tarun Chawla 2. Denim is not going anywhere, and here's proof. What other fabric can be as classy, yet as 'street'? © Tarun Chawla 3. Stripes are always flattering when done properly. Exhibit A. We love the stripe-on-stripe look layered with a rather simplistic jacket. Accessorize right, and voila! © Tarun Chawla 4. A well-tailored jacket and a well-tailored pair of pants will always be among the best looking pieces in your wardrobe. Look at Ben rocking the combo with a pair of smart sneakers and a fannypack thrown in the mix. © Tarun Chawla 5. Sometimes, the most comfortable clothes can turn out to be the classiest ones, provided you pair and style them right. We love the super relaxed vibe, that has been amplified by the pleasing colours. © Tarun Chawla 6. Pieces that don't look cohesive can sometimes give rise to a smart outfit. The printed pants along with the striped jacket look great on the black T-shirt canvas. © Tarun Chawla 7. The simplest of outfits can be the best looking ones. The vintage shirt along with the well-fitted blue jeans are paired to perfection, along with those brown boots. © Tarun Chawla 8. Kimonos need to be more mainstream. Nothing is as comfortable and as stylish, period. © MensXP 9. Dhruv Kapoor sure knows how to take simplicity to the next level. A well-tailored shirt can look just as striking as the best of jackets. © Tarun Chawla 10. Finally, the OG 'Sartorialist' Scott Schuman in a smartly layered, tone-on-tone all blue outfit. It doesn't get simpler, or better. © Tarun Chawla

Sajid Khan Steps Down As 'Housefull 4' Director After Being Accused Of Harassment

The #MeToo movement has empowered so many women to speak up against their perpetrators lately, and the latest name that has been added to the list of the accused is that of 'Housefull' director Sajid Khan.   The man has been accused by three women, including Saloni Chopra, who once assisted the director years ago. She penned down her #MeToo story in a blog, where she extensively described the trauma she had to endure when she was assisting Sajid.  I finally decided to share my story with you. Writing this was like re-living all that horrible past I'd chosen to let go of, but I knew if I don't today, I may never. So here's #metoo #MetooIndia https://t.co/brouTYIBC7 — Saloni Chopra (@redheadchopra) October 11, 2018 After her post went viral, Twinkle Khanna tweeted urging the 'Housefull' team to support and stand up for justice.  Appalled hearing multiple incidents of harassment and it is truly horrific to hear what these women have been through. Everyone involved in Housefull needs to take a firm stance on this issue. This cannot go on. — Twinkle Khanna (@mrsfunnybones) October 12, 2018 Actor Akshay Kumar, who is playing one of the lead roles in Sajid's movie, issued an official statement where he explained his support for justice and demanded the shoot of 'Housefull 4' be cancelled. pic.twitter.com/deSRvNnkAA — Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) October 12, 2018 With each day, the true nature of several big names from the industry are being revealed in the #MeToo movement, and its high time that justice is served to the victims. In the latest developlent in this matter, Sajid Khan has now issued an official statement that he has stepped down as the director of the movie. pic.twitter.com/qnD9W6aiLb — Sajid Khan (@SimplySajidK) October 12, 2018 Even Nana Patekar, who is a part of the cast of the movie, is already under the radar after being accused by Tanushree Dutta, who is garnering a lot of support after she decided to speak up against the actor and led the way for many women to reveal their stories as well. © Twitter Now, an official statement from the production house is awaited and until then, the movie is on hold. Let's just hope that more people in Bollywood speak up and support women, so that justice is finally served.

Aamir Khan Supports #MeToo, Steps Away From A Project After Allegations Against The Director

It was high time that the #MeToo movement hit India and as we have learned recently, we can see how important it actually is. The time is literally up for all the sleazeballs, especially in Bollywood, and we've finally reached a point of no tolerance, which is incredible to see.  No inappropriate behaviour will be excused now, nor will any kind of misconduct be brushed off and people will get what they deserve, whether it's justice or consequences for their actions, even if that action happened years ago. The best thing about so many powerful people getting exposed is now their behaviour – which they were getting away with a long time – is coming back to bite them in the ass, which is beautiful to see.  No one wants to associate with such people who have been accused and it's a warning for everyone, that the time is really up for such people. Although @MumbaiFilmFest hs disassociated itslf frm directors&producer whose names have come out in #Metoo movement but I hope its chairperson #KiranRao remembers tht @aamir_khan her husband hmslf is working wth #subhashkapoor who's being prosecuted for sexual assault&molestation — Geetika Tyagi (@TyagiGeetika) October 9, 2018 Aamir Khan is obviously famous for being a perfectionist, so it's not a surprise that he believes in zero-tolerance for any kind of sexual misconduct.  Recently, he walked out of a project after being informed of “sexual misconduct” on the part of a collaborator. In a statement, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao explained his departure and how they are committed in making the industry a safe place. pic.twitter.com/NidpxviA95 — Aamir Khan (@aamir_khan) October 10, 2018 Taking a stand supporting the #MeToo movement, the statement said, “We believe that this is an opportunity for the film industry to introspect and take concrete steps towards change. For far too long, women have faced the brunt of sexual exploitation. It has to stop.” © Twitter The statement further read, “Two weeks ago, when traumatic #MeToo stories began emerging, it was brought to our attention that someone we were about to begin work with has been accused of sexual misconduct. Upon enquiry, we found that this particular case is sub-judice and that the legal process is in motion. So, without casting any aspersions on anyone involved in this case, and without coming to any conclusions about these specific allegations, we have decided to step away from this film. We do not want our action to reflect in any manner on the people involved in this case.” The person in question is Subhash Kapoor, who has been accused of molesting a woman, and the project being talked about is the Gulshan Kumar biopic 'Mogul', which is being directed by him. People obviously commended this step taken by Aamir Khan Productions because it's a crucial moment now for everyone to show their support for the #MeToo movement. So Aamir Khan Productions won't be producing Subhash Kapoor's Gulshan Kumar biopic. #MeToo https://t.co/IvbCx3WIwY — Rohit Khilnani (@rohitkhilnani) October 10, 2018 Thank you, indeed! This is COMMENDABLE and this is the kind of support we want so that more and more women can come out. Thank you @aamir_khan thank you #KiranRao #TimesUp #MeTooMovement https://t.co/dIDr88Mh9L — Geetika Tyagi (@TyagiGeetika) October 10, 2018 Everyone needs to stand up and speak out. THIS is what we need more of. The big guns from the industry to step up and stand for what's right. #MeTooâ  â  https://t.co/3q3cQABJZU — Raunak Kapoor (@RaunakRK) October 10, 2018 It's a great start. Finally, one of a handful of leading men in #Bollywood has spoken. He may not have called a spade.. well, a spade, but it's a start. #MeToo #India https://t.co/vKV2vIWvmb — Bindu Rai (@BinduRai) October 11, 2018 Bollywood, follow this great example. This.
Aamir Khan who makes cinema w/ a conscience & speaks up when not many do, thank you & Kiran for your stance.
One of the biggest stars of Indian cinema on MeToo.

He even spoke when a journo asked the cast of ToH a question.

Heroism can't just be on reel, thank you, Aamirð https://t.co/BnZWObjlAs — Mehr Tarar (@MehrTarar) October 11, 2018

Kanye West Accidentally Revealed His iPhone Passcode For The Whole World To See

Seem like Kanye West just made yet another social media mistake that may haunt him very soon. The famous rapper accidentally revealed the passcode of his iPhone while he was unlocking his phone to show U.S President Donald Trump something on his phone.  © Twitter West was trying to show the design of a new plane that he wants President Trump to make as the official Air Force One design. Kanye calls it the “iPlace 1” which is a hydrogen-powered concept aircraft.  In the video, we can clearly see Kanye unlocking his phone with the code “000000”  Kanye just unlocked his iPhone before the TV cameras in the Oval Office. And his password is just 0 repeatedly pic.twitter.com/mOAbhRLr7s — Steve Kopack (@SteveKopack) October 11, 2018 Kanye is probably using the iPhone XS or the iPhone X that supports facial recognition. Despite the available feature, we see Kanye putting in his passcode with much excitement to show the designs.  © Reuters What's scary is that the passcode is probably the simplest one any human can use, and even Apple doesn't recommend users using a simple password like 000000. Apple will pop up a notification that suggests you consider a different passcode.  Here's a closer look at what Kanye was trying to show: © Twitter What's funny is that Kanye is basically showing an image of a 2012 concept plane, that was imagined by an industrial designer. The design was used to show what the commercial aircraft may look like by 2030.  Kanye's hydrogen iPlane photo is a 2012 concept from an industrial designer pic.twitter.com/oVUMgliGqg — James Titcomb (@jamestitcomb) October 11, 2018 It was tracked by Telegraph's James Titcomb and he says that Kanye, or his team, basically added the “iPlane 1” and “TRUMP” text to show off to the President.  Way to go Kanye, not only did you steal someone else's design to pass off as your own; you even made sure everyone in the world could hack your phone in the process.  Source: Yahoo News

HyperX Pulsefire Surge Review: The Best Gaming Mouse One Can Buy In India

HyperX is known for its headsets and other gaming accessories, if you're out there looking for a balanced gaming mouse that isn't hard on the pocket, the Pulsefire Surge is definitely worth considering. HyperX is a sub-brand of Kingston that is popular for PC peripherals.  Looking for quality gaming accessories in India? You'll quickly be out of options because they are either unavailable directly or cost a lot.  The Pulsefire Surge is specially designed for gaming, and to be precise it is built for first-person shooters. Here's our detailed review of the mouse.  Design & Aesthetics:  © MensXP It has a shiny plastic body that looks premium and feels grippy. The LED line completely wraps the body and consists of 32 zones, each zone being a little bit of the illumination glowing around the mouse's perimeter. Even the HyperX logo in the centre is lit and programmable.  In terms of size, it has an average length of 4.7-inches and weighs just 100 grams. The bottom has two large plastic pads that are smooth and ensure swift movement. The cable is braided and feels solid as well.  © MensXP It misses out on a customizable weight system but considering the price, that's a con we have to make peace with. The scroll wheel has a rubber coating, making it very gripping and easy to control. The only extra buttons are a DPI switch behind the scroll wheel, which conveniently switches between sensitivity options. There are two programmable buttons on the left side, just a millisecond away from your thumb.  I've used the mouse for exceptionally long durations, including both gaming and work, and it has never disappointed. The lightweight combined with near perfect curve design is very ergonomic.  Performance:  © MensXP The Pulsefire Surge contains a high-quality Pixart 3389 sensor, which allows DPIs between 100 and 16,000. This is also similar to what you'll find in most competing high-end mice from competitors. The buttons are very tactile and satisfying thanks to 50M click rated Omron switches. The left and right mouse buttons are quick and snappy as well.  Out of the box, the three DPI presets, are set to only 800, 1600, and 3200 DPI, but with software, that can all change. Even though they are built for FPS games, the mouse can be used for any genre. Even if you are working around excel sheets, the comfort level is very high and the experience is intensely smooth on a 4K monitor.  The sensor is capable of reading movements of 450 inches per second, can still track with 50Gs of force, and all included, the mouse delivers six buttons to use.  Features:  © MensXP The mouse comes with HyperX's NGenuity software that lets you customize the LED strip, DPI profiles, secondary button shortcuts and more. The LED strip is distributed in 32 zones, each one fully programmable. By default, the mouse comes with a wave pattern. The HyperX logo also glows and the two buttons on the side can be easily assigned a shortcut, whether in-game or not.  I used the two buttons for reloading and aiming in CS: G0 and used the Copy/Paste shortcuts in the day to day usage. The mouse comes with three profiles that can be stored within the mouse, but others can be added and stored on the PC.  The Ngenuity software can also provide a helpful on-screen overlay prompt, letting you know which setting you've chosen with each press. There are many complaints on forums stating the software doesn't open or run at times, but I tested the mouse on four different machines and it always worked instantly.  Conclusion:  © MensXP This is the first time I'm giving a product a 5-star rating, and the Pulsefire Surge rightfully deserves it. The mouse is well designed, filled to the brim with features, and light on the pocket when compared to the competition. The high 16,000 DPI option wouldn't be practical on a normal display but is a charm on 4K.  I'd highly recommend this mouse, even for routine work. The comfort level is high, natively supported Windows shortcuts are supported, and the LED lighting is very cool.

These Features On The Pixel 3 Are Perfect For People Who Suck At Taking Awesome Pictures

Not everyone is great at taking pictures and taking a perfect shot from a smartphone can be even more difficult. Google has now made it easier for users to take awesome pictures, even when you miss an awesome moment. Google's “computational photography” algorithms work behind the scenes to give you the perfect shot you've always wanted but could never achieve.  All of this is possible thanks to machine learning and Google's new Pixel Visual core chip.   © Google The feature is called 'Top Shot' and is now being rolled out to Pixel 3 smartphones via an update. It works in tandem with everything mentioned above to pick the best shots from a number of images.  It basically clicks images before and after you click the shutter button and gives you a range of shots that you may want to use. This will basically eliminate the problem of pictures that would have eyes closed or weird expressions. You can simply scroll through the alternate images to use the perfect moment captured.  © Google If you love taking selfies, Google has introduced another feature called 'Photobooth'. It essentially works similar to the 'Top Shot', where it takes a bunch of selfie shots by recognising the subjects in the frame. What's cool is that it will capture images automatically when you smile or make funny faces, without having to click the shutter button. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Google Pixel 3's marquee feature is both the primary and front-facing camera and these features just make the camera on the smartphone even more powerful.  The Pixel 3 and 3 XL have an 8MP primary dual pixel sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 The Pixel 3 XL also sports a dual 8MP wide-wide-angle and a normal field-of-view camera. The wide-angle sensor has an aperture of f/2.2 and 97° field of view. The normal selfie camera has a f/1.8 aperture and 75° field of view.  The Pixel 3 and 3 XL will be available in India for purchase from November 1st and will be priced as below: Pixel 3: Rs. 71,000 (64GB), Rs. 80,000 (128GB),  Pixel 3 XL: Rs. 83,000 (64GB), and Rs. 92,000 (128GB)

5 Must-Have Vegetarian Muscle-Building Foods To Eat During Navaratri

Since Navratri is here and non-vegetarian food becomes a no-go for most, things get a bit tedious for the hard-working gym militia.  Where to get the protein from? So should you give up your diet completely for 9 days? Well, that surely doesn't sound like a wise solution.  So, the best bet would be to accommodate all the vegetarian protein sources and stick to them for 9 days in a row, without breaking away from your diet. Here's a list of those food items:  1) Whey Protein © Thinkstock This one needs no introduction. During Navaratri, Whey protein is actually going to play the role of a life saviour for you. All those chicken breasts and egg whites that you are going to give up for more than a week cannot be compensated with anything except a whey protein supplement. Whey protein has a very good amino acid profile and thus, will help you meet your quality protein needs for the time being. 2) Tofu © Thinkstock I would agree that soybean protein isn't the best protein source available out there for non-vegetarians; but its time that you show some respect for tofu's protein content, at least for this week. A pack of tofu would easily feed you around 30 grams of protein, which is a very decent amount considering the fact that it comes from an all-vegetarian source. Tofu curry can replace your regular chicken curry that you carried for your office lunch. 3) Greek Yoghurt © Thinkstock If you aren't a fan of yoghurt, now is the time to become one. Greek yogurt is different from a regular yogurt as it contains more protein and less fat content per serving.  The best part about Greek yoghurt is that it comes in different flavours, so you can either have them as your evening snack or consume them as a post-meal dessert.  Now, some people may feel that's it's a little expensive considering the amount of protein that you get per serving. However, you can easily include it as a part of your overall high protein diet. 4) Milk © Thinkstock No, now is not the time to think whether to take your whey protein with milk or not. Now is the time to include as much milk in your diet as possible.  If you cannot afford any of the above food items because they are expensive or out of your budget, you can choose to include milk in your daily diet to meet your nutritional needs.  Have double toned or skimmed milk to make sure you are not consuming too much of fat along with milk. 5) Nuts & Nut Butter © Thinkstock Nuts like almond will not only help you satisfy your mid-meal hunger, but will also provide you with a great choice for snacking.  They are any day better than having those tea time biscuits that have lots of sugar-coated flavours in them. Save yourself from those and replace them with almonds or peanut butter. 5 Not-So-Common Exercises To Build Massive Biceps & Triceps

You can never have big enough biceps. This is something all gym bros will agree upon.  In the pursuit of arms that fill out sleeves, and forearms that Popeye himself would be proud of, most gym bros spend hours (read: waste) doing a lot of isolation work.   Most of the time, it is the same old bicep curls, hammer curls, dips, tricep extensions, forearm curls and etc. that make up the routine. What if I told you that there were some exercises that will give you a better chance to grow your arms?  Here's the list of those exercises:  1. Pull-Up Or Chin-Up © Thinkstock Images A pull-up or a chin-up challenge your biceps as much as curls do and it is more functional as an exercise as well, that has a carryover effect into your daily life. They help you in sports movements as well and help you get stronger overall. 2. Dumbbell Skull Crushers © Thinkstock Images In the gym, you see a lot of people doing skull crushers with a straight bar or an EZ-bar. The problem with these two is that they are heavy on your wrists and you spend more time adjusting or working with your wrists than actually doing the movement.   When you pick a dumbbell instead, your wrists are in a neutral position and you will be able to blast your triceps without hurting your wrist or your shoulders.  3. Diamond Push-Ups © YouTube A lot of people do tricep kick-back but the problem is that you cannot really go too heavy and if you do, you do not isolate the tricep area. You are swinging your body and involving your upper body muscles. Diamond push-ups, on the other hand, hit the triceps more effectively and you can also load them externally by doing weighted push-ups. 4. Farmer's Carry © YouTube Ever seen a strongman's forearms? A single forearm of theirs may easily outsize a typical gym bro's arm size.  If you want to build massive forearms, have amazing grip strength, and strong forearms, then embrace the farmer's carry. This movement will not just make your forearms pop out, it will also make you build endurance and have stronger glutes. 5. Waiter's Carry © Pixabay Another super unconventional exercise to add to your toolkit, the waiter's carry hits your forearms while also activating your core and improves stability.  You can hold a plate or a barbell or a dumbbell overhead and walk the desired steps or time doing this. Do it one hand at a time and then switch hands. These unconventional exercises won't feel the same as the old curls and dips to you, but that is where the growth occurs, outside your comfort zone. Go give these a try and start growing those arms as thick as you can.   Author bio: Pratik Thakkar is the co-founder and director of GetSetGo Fitness, an online fitness company. 5 Times Die-Hard Fans Of Amitabh Bachchan Went Bonkers For Him

The megastar aka the living legend of Bollywood turned 76 today, and if you couldn't manage to queue up in front of Jalsa to wish him on his birthday, I am guessing most of you would have wished him on social media already.   Amitabh Bachchan is the undisputed and unconquered king of Bollywood, but what makes him special are his unique fans, who go to extreme lengths to prove their love for him.  Big B has a crazy fanbase both numerically and literally and even if you don't trust my words, these instances will make you believe that it's true: 1. A Truck Full Of Samosas © Instagram In 1982, when Amitabh Bachchan got fatally injured on the sets of 'Coolie', a samosa vendor prayed for his speedy recovery. After he was discharged from the hospital and was doing fine, the vendor sent a truck full of samosas to the actor's residence. He asked him to touch the truck once, so that he could distribute the samosas as prasad to his fans.  2. A Temple In Kolkata © Instagram Amitabh Bachchan is undoubtedly a living legend in Bollywood, a megastar who is not only loved but worshipped by his fans. But, in Kolkata, he has an actual temple built in his name.  It is also said that the fans managed to get their hands on the same shoes he wore in 'Agneepath' and placed them on the very chair he sat on in 'Aks'. The temple walls have 'Jai Shri Amitabh' written on it and people sing a customised aarti for him.   3. Stalked Jalsa & Threatened To Commit Suicide © Instagram A female fan once threatened to commit suicide outside Bachchan's house, when the guards and the police didn't let her meet him. She also wanted to be employed in Jalsa, so that she could stay under the same roof as him.   4. A 100 Year-Old-Fan © Twitter There was a time when Big B's 100-year-old fan forgot everyone, even her family members and wouldn't even eat. However, she was motivated to eat when she was told that Bachchan will meet her. T 1126 -Bernadine D'Souza a fan who turns 100 years on 18th !!!! Sri Lankan Seamer Lasith Malinga Accused Of Sexual Harassment In Cricket's 'Me Too' Expose

On 10th October, an Indian flight attendant's sensational allegations of sexual harassment against Arjuna Ranatunga had sent shockwaves across the cricket fraternity. It was cricket's first expose as part of the ever-growing 'Me Too' campaign which has unravelled disturbing tales of sexual assault and harassment being faced by women across the globe. But, while the cricket fraternity was still coming to terms with the accusations levelled against the former Sri Lankan captain, another revelation involving an international cricketer seems to have now disrupted world order in the sport. Lasith Malinga, Ranatunga's fellow countryman, has found himself in the middle of the 'Me Too' tirade. The allegations against the Lankan seamer came to the fore after Indian singer Chinmayi Sripaada posted a tweet on behalf of an anonymous woman, claiming that he sexually harassed her during the IPL season in a Mumbai hotel. Cricketer Lasith Malinga. pic.twitter.com/Y1lhbF5VSK — Chinmayi Sripaada (@Chinmayi) October 11, 2018 Taking to Twitter, Sripaada named 'Cricketer Lasith Malinga' since the alleged victim did not name the Lankan in her statement. "I'd like to remain anonymous. A few years back when I was in Mumbai, I was looking for my friend in the hotel we were staying in. I bumped into a very famous Sri Lankan cricketer during the IPL season who said my friend was in his room. I go in and she's not. He then pushed me in the bed and proceeded to climb onto my face," the tweet read. "Mind you I'm tall and about same body weight & I couldn't fight him back. I closed my eyes and mouth but he used my face. Then the hotel staff knocked on the door to replenish the bar, which he went to open the door. I quickly ran into the washroom washed my face and left as soon as the hotel staff left. I was humiliated. I knew people would say that you knowingly went to his room, he's famous, you wanted it or worse you deserve it," she concluded. © BCCL Malinga has been a vital cog for Sri Lanka ever since he made his international debut in 2004. The right-arm seamer has represented Sri Lanka in 305 matches, wherein he has claimed 497 wickets including 11 five-wicket hauls across all formats of the game. He was also a crucial member for the Mumbai Indians in the last 10 editions of the IPL. Playing in Mumbai's iconic blue jersey, Malinga has taken 154 wickets in 110 IPL games - which also makes him the highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament.

Christian Bale Gained Over 20 Kg For His Role In 'Vice' & We're Sure He's Made Of Elastic

Call him a real-life shapeshifter or pure magic, Christian Bale is one man who is extremely true to his craft and passionate about the roles he takes up. For his next role, the perfectionist gained a whopping 20 kilos and obviously, looked unrecognisable. © Annapurna Pictures Bale is all set to play Dick Cheney, the former Vice President of the US. The movie 'Vice' also stars Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney and Steve Carrell as Donald Rumsfeld.  The movie will follow Dick's rise to becoming the most powerful VP in US history. Bale is known for putting his body through the extreme when it comes to getting in character for a movie. From reducing himself to skin and bones to transforming into a mountain, he has done it all.  When he lost weight back in 2004 for 'The Machinist', he claimed that it affected him both physically and mentally.  He then went on to surprise fans once again when he beefed up for 'Baman Returns' and had to follow a strict regime of weightlifting and eating protein. © Warner Bros Needless to say, his fans are elated with his transformation once again. I traveled with Cheney in 2004, covering the re-election campaign for @ABC. Every speech, rally, retail stop.

It's *incredible* how much Christian Bale looks and sounds like the former VP. The Type Of Shoes Every Indian Man Needs To Own

Men have often complained about there not being as much variety in products vis-a-vis clothes and accessories for them, as there tends to be for women.  While this complaint is certainly justified for a variety of categories (grooming products immediately come to mind), it is simply UNTRUE when it comes to shoes. In fact, shoes are perhaps that one fashion category for men, where there is just as much variety (if not more!) of products to choose from, as there tends to be for their female counterparts. This is perhaps why it's also important for Indian men to have a clear understanding of, not only the type of shoes they can buy, but also WHY they need to be owning at least one pair of each.  And since being spoilt for choice should never be a reason for missing out on fashion essentials, here are the six different type of shoes that every Indian man NEEDS to possess for their shoe racks:   1) A Pair Of White Sneakers © Unsplash It doesn't matter what body type you harbour, how tall you are or what your fashion sensibilities may be, but if you identify as an Indian man, you absolutely need to be owning at least one pair of white sneakers.  After all, the utility of white sneakers cannot be stressed enough as they can pretty much go well with a vast majority of your wardrobe, so much so, that they'll probably become your go-to choice of footwear for a multitude of occasions. Just make sure you take care of them properly as they can be a bit challenging to maintain. 2) A Pair Of Brogues © Pexels It's often said that all those who consider themselves as being gentlemen should own at least one pair stylish brogues for their shoe collection. After all, brogues are the epitome of class, maturity and high-fashion. Perfect for your workplace, you can also depend on them to elevate your casual, smart-casual and semi-formal attires for a second date or a house party, giving them greater utility than others.   3) A Pair Of Sock-Sneakers © Unsplash Sock-sneakers are perhaps the best amalgamation of style and comfort. After all, is there any other type of shoe out there that not only makes you look stylish and fashion-forward but also does so without compromising on your sense of comfort?  Since most of them feature mesh and textile uppers, you never have to worry about the breathability and comfort you'll be getting when you put them on. 4) A Pair Of Espadrilles © Flickr Espadrilles will pretty much be that breath of fresh air that'll add some much-needed variety to your otherwise monotonous collection of sneakers and formal shoes. In fact, espadrilles should pretty much be an essential part of your summer wardrobe, ones you can keep coming back to when you'd be looking for a pair of shoes that will make for comfort wear, all the while giving you an effortlessly stylish aura.  5) A Pair Of Loafers © Pexels If we were to go by its textbook definition, loafers can best be described as being shoes without laces. But going by just that definition would be a disservice, as loafers (both penny and horsebit variants) make for the most comfortable, fashionable and easy-to-wear type of shoes that can be used for almost all types of occasions.  In fact, the best thing about owning a pair of loafers is just how reliable they are, so much so, that you shouldn't be surprised if they become your most used pair of shoes. 6) A Pair Of Running Shoes © Unsplash You don't even have to be a fitness freak or gym rat to own a pair of running shoes. In fact, whether you're a beginner, expert or completely alien to the concept of fitness, owning a pair of running shoes should be mandatory.  After all, apart from their basic utility in aiding your morning runs and evening workouts, you can also use some of them (not all!) to accentuate your casual ensembles.

Kangana Wants Hrithik Roshan To Be Punished For Dating 'Young Girls' & Having A 'Trophy Wife'

Kangana Ranaut is fierce with her acting, choice of films and even her words and opinions. Her unabashed, blunt views and brutal honesty is something which has won her many friends and many enemies as well. However, that has never stopped her from speaking her mind anyway. © Instagram The actress recently hit headlines when she accused director Vikas Bahl of sexual misconduct.  “Every time we met, socially greeted and hugged each other, he (Bahl) would bury his face in my neck, hold me really tight and breathe in the smell of my hair. It took me a great amount of strength and effort to pull myself out of his embrace. He'd say 'I love how you smell K'. Even though Vikas was married back in 2014 when we were filming Queen, he bragged about having casual *** with a new partner every other day. I don't judge people and their marriages but you can tell when addiction becomes a sickness. He partied every night and shamed me for sleeping early and not being cool enough.”  Bollywood has not been very vocal about the whole Vikas Bahl incident but recently, Imran Khan came out to speak against the director. © Instagram Now, in an interview, Kangana spoke about the #MeToo movement and called out Hrithik Roshan as well.  Speaking about how justice should be served in the case of Vikas Bahl, she added, “whatever is happening with Vikas Bahl is absolutely correct. Our industry still has a lot of people who don't behave well with women. They assault them, they harass them, they should also be punished. People who keep their wives as trophies and keep young girls as their mistresses should also be punished... I am referring to Hrithik Roshan, people should not work with him as well.” © Instagram Kangana and Hrithik have been at loggerheads ever since their spat got ugly in public, when the actress openly claimed that he was dating her while he was still married, an allegation he later denied. Interestingly, Hrithik had recently spoken about the entire Vikas Bahl incident himself. pic.twitter.com/uGT29wKt4z — Hrithik Roshan (@iHrithik) October 8, 2018 There has been no response from actor in terms of this quote by Kangana but it seems like the spat will only get murkier.

Meet The Indian Young Guns Who're Punching Above Their Weight At The Youth Olympics

For a really long time, Indians were deemed unfit and their thin-fat body type (less muscle and more fat) was being blamed for their lack of athleticism.  Sports medicine specialists also blamed the poor proportion of right muscles amongst Indians as the primary reason that often left us playing the second fiddle to born athletes like the Africans and the Caucasians.  If our dubious body structure kept us lagging behind, the lack of infrastructure and proper training facilities further spelt the doom of Indian athletes at coveted tournaments like the Olympic Games. But, thankfully, that's no longer the case. Though it's still a long way to go, there is no doubt that the times have changed in India, which is now taking rapid strides in sports (especially athletics) at the global level.  The training facilities have improved, the athletes are now being nurtured from a young age and the availability of sports specialists has allowed Indian sportspersons to achieve their full potential. All of those pivotal changes were on full display at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang last month. © Reuters Going into the event with 572 athletes in its contingent, India registered its best ever performance at the Games. Bolstered by a record-breaking performance by its athletes, India finished their campaign in Indonesia with 69 medals including 15 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze. It was an outing that was cherished by billions of fans back home and earned plaudits from the bigwigs in Indian sports. Almost a month later, India's historic Asian Games showing seems to have inspired the budding athletes to prove their mettle at the ongoing 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. Boasting of 47 athletes across 13 sports, India has begun its campaign on a positive note in Buenos Aires, Argentina. When the youth become an inspiration. Many Congratulations to our future-

The likes of Tushar Mane (shooting), Tababi Devi Thangjam (judo) and Mehuli Ghosh (shooting) have all made the nation proud by bagging silver medals. But, it's India's consistency to clinch the yellow metal in the ongoing event that has captured the imagination of their fans. In a mere four days, India has already won three gold medals - a performance that has elated Indian fans. Jeremy Lalrinnunga © Twitter/@olympicchannel "The only thing on my mind is a gold medal, nothing else will make me happy. I am going to Argentina with a strong belief that I can win gold. I have been lifting some good weights during the training sessions and there's this positive energy around me," Jeremy Lalrinnunga had said during Indian contingent's send-off ceremony for the Summer Youth Olympics. And, on 9th October, the 15-year-old weightlifter delivered the goods in a sensational manner.  Congratulations to Jeremy Lalrinnunga (IND) ð®ð³ for the first-ever gold medal for India at the Youth Olympic Games #YouthOlympics #GameChangers #WinningWednesday #BuenosAires2018 @ioaindia pic.twitter.com/ZvWHNg3WSU — Olympics (@Olympics) October 10, 2018 The Mizoram lad gave India it's first-ever gold medal at the Youth Olympics after lifting a total of 274kg (124kg snatch & 150kg clean and jerk) to edge past his opponents in the men's 62kg weightlifting competition. If his gold-medal finish isn't enough to make him stand out, the fact that he lifted more weight than senior men's team weightlifter Raja Muthupandi, who lifted a total of 266kg (snatch & clean and jerk) at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, earned him the tag of 'Ironman' at the tender age of 15. Manu Bhaker © Twitter/@olympicchannel If Jeremy opened India's account of gold medals at the tournament, Manu Bhaker ensured that tally kept going up. The 16-year-old became the first Indian shooter to win a gold medal at the Youth Olympics after clinching the yellow metal in the women's 10m air pistol event. The pistol shooter from Haryana shot 236.5 in the eight-woman final to clinch the gold medal. She finished 0.6 point ahead of silver medallist Lana Enina from Russia. While her prolific performance gave India its second gold in the tournament, it also helped the young girl regain her confidence following her medal-less finishes at the Asian Games and World Shooting Championships earlier this year. Saurabh Chaudhary © Twitter/@olympicchannel After a terrific run on Tuesday, Saurabh Chaudhary added another gold to India's medal tally in Argentina. For someone who became senior Asian Games champion and junior World Champion earlier this year, the Meerut pistol shooter lived up to the expectations with yet another brilliant performance, this time at the Youth Olympics. Plying his trade in the men's 10m air pistol event, the 16-year-old didn't break a sweat as he shot 244.2 in the eight-man final to clinch the yellow metal. The teenager already holds the juniors' final world record of 245.5 (1.9 point more than the seniors' record - 243.6). And, on 10th October, he once again made a mockery of seniors' final world record by 0.6 point.

Know Your Boundaries: Here's What The Indian Law Says Constitutes As Harassment

The #MeToo uproar has shaken the country over the past two weeks with a deluge of accounts of sexual harassment and misconduct pouring in from all over the country. This has helped to unify survivors and women in general, to open up about the ways in which they have been harassed by men. However, it has left quite a few men feeling stranded and unsure about the possibilities of when and in how many ways they could go wrong with their actions and interactions with women.  Innumerable accounts narrating various levels of discomfort women have experienced have surfaced, pushing some men to reconsider even their “friendly moves”. © Unsplash Whether causing that discomfort is intentional or unintentional is a question that takes a backseat in this regard, and at this moment of the uprising.  Hence, to put all the “confusions” and “assumptions” to rest, we have compiled a list of all the laws laid down in the Indian Penal Code for sexual harassment, so you know what you can get penalised for by the law. 1. Section  S. 354 A Sexual harassment is defined as a man committing any of the following acts: (i) physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures; or (ii) a demand or request for sexual favours; or (iii) showing pornography against the will of a woman; or (iv) making sexually coloured remarks What It Means: In very simple terms, what it means is that don't indulge in any actions or interactions that are sexual in nature without the consent of a woman. Take her discomfort, protests and “NO” very, very seriously. Committing the first three offences may land you in jail for a period extending up to 3 years, or get you fined, or both. On the other hand, the last offence would get you a jail term of up to 1 year, or fine, or both. © Next Gen Films 2. Section 354 Assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.—Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any woman, intending to outrage or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby outrage her modesty, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both. What It Means: Anybody who assaults or uses criminal force against a woman with an intention to dishonour her modesty shall be punished with imprisonment spanning up to two years, or shall be fined, or both. © Viacom 18 3. Section 354 B Assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to disrobe. - Any man who assaults or uses criminal force to any woman or abets such act with the intention of disrobing or compelling her to be naked, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than three years but which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine. What It Means: Any man who assaults or uses criminal force against a woman with an intention to disrobe her can be punished by law. The minimum punishment is up to 3 years, which can extend up to 7 years or an imposition of fine or both. 4. Section 354 C Any man who watches, or captures the image of a woman engaging in a private act in circumstances where she would usually have the expectation of not being observed either by the perpetrator or by any other person at the behest of the perpetrator or disseminates such image shall be punished on first conviction with imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than one year, but which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to fine, and be punished on a second or subsequent conviction, with imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than three years, but which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine. What It Means: Any man who violates a woman's privacy by engaging in the act of voyeurism, that is, by watching or capturing her images in her intimate or private moments, when she is not expecting an audience. The offence comprises of a punishment of 1-3 years of imprisonment and a fine. However, a repeated conviction will land you in jail for a minimum of 3 years and payment of a fine. © Colour Yellow Productions 5. Section 345 D (1) Any man who— (i) follows a woman and contacts, or attempts to contact such woman to foster personal interaction repeatedly despite a clear indication of disinterest by such woman; or (ii) monitors the use by a woman of the internet, email or any other form of electronic communication, commits the offence of stalking. (2) Whoever commits the offence of stalking shall be punished on first conviction with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to fine; and be punished on a second or subsequent conviction, with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, and shall also be liable to fine. What It Means: You don't stalk any woman, under any circumstances. Period. Unless, of course, it's to do with matters of law and you are following State orders. The first conviction will land you in jail for up to 3 years and make you liable to pay a fine, while a repeated offence can land you in jail for up to 5 years, and make you liable to pay a fine. © Dharma Productions 6. The Sexual Harassment at The Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013: Under the Act, sexual harassment includes: a) Physical contact and advances. (You can't touch someone inappropriately, at any time, or for any reason) b) A demand or request for sexual favours. (Need we say more?) c) Making sexually coloured remarks. (Never make those sexist jokes) d) Showing pornography (You know that's wrong by default) e) Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature. (No unwelcome hugs, physically touching someone that makes them uncomfortable. Also, no talking with sexual overtures.) Under the Act, the below five also count as sexual harassment: a) Implied or explicit promise of preferential treatment in her employment. (If you're guilty, change your ways already.) b) Implied or explicit threat of detrimental treatment in her employment (Threats can land you in jail too.) c) Implied or explicit threat about her present or future employment status. (Like we said.) d) Interference with her work or creating an intimidating or offensive work environment for her. (Goes without saying, nobody wants to work in such an atmosphere.) e) Humiliating treatment likely to affect her health or safety. (We rest our case.) So, these are some of the basic laws you must be aware of regarding sexual harassment, and now you know that you must watch your moves at all times.

Why Men Need To Pay More Attention To Their Choice Of Shoes

William Shakespeare once famously asked, “what's in a name?” I'm sure many of you must be asking a variation of that question after reading the headline, something along the lines of “why are our shoes important?” or “does it really matter what shoes we wear?” Well, I am here to let you know that your choice of shoes ABSOLUTELY matters, and in more ways than one. More often than not, Indian men have this uncanny habit of either not prioritising - or completely ignoring - the shoes they wear vis-a-vis their attire.  Don't mistake this for the love you may harbor for owning the latest pair of Yeezys or the latest kicks from Nike, because most men have never really shied away from being brand brats.  This has more to do with not understanding that your shoes can actually be the kingmaker (if chosen properly) or the deal breaker (if not paid attention to) in making you look your modish and fashion-forward best. So, in case you needed more convincing, here are four reasons why men NEED to start paying more attention to their choice of shoes. 1) Your Choice Of Shoes Represents Attention To Detail   © Pexels There's always been an unfair assumption that men tend to be less detail-oriented than their female counterparts. Well, if there is one way you could help dispel that notion, it's by paying close attention to your choice of shoes. After all, if the shoes you're wearing complement the rest of your outfit, or stand out and grab everyone's attention for all the right reasons, it means you're detail-oriented and aren't content with wearing just anything in your wardrobe. Speaking of which….. 2) It Means You're Looking At The Bigger Picture © Official Instagram/ Shahid Kapoor Depending on the type of shoes or the type of sneakers you opt for, your entire look is going to either become more fashion-forward or appear to be more outdated. As such, paying attention to the shoes you'd be wearing indicates that you're looking at the bigger picture, and aren't just content with the type of shirt or pair of trousers you may have put on.    3) You Can Help Create A Positive (And Lasting) Impression © Official Instagram/ Shahid Kapoor Now it goes without saying that when you're on a date with someone, or when you're attending a party, you'd want to look your absolute best. You'd want everyone to pay attention to what you're wearing (and for the right reasons!) and you'd want to create a positive and lasting impression. You might think the shoes you're wearing aren't all that impactful in creating that impression, but that would be a rookie mistake to make. In reality, if you put on a pair of shoes that aren't going well with your outfit, they'll stick out like a sore thumb - and that's something you really don't want happening. 4) They Are An Expensive Buy © Pexels Shoes, especially ones made of premium leather or ones that belong to high-end brands, can be incredibly expensive to own. Even shoes that don't necessarily belong to premium brands aren't exactly cheap.  As such, it goes without saying that you need to be paying (no pun intended!) more attention to the type of shoes you're buying, as they ideally should be a long-term investment that you shouldn't regret making after a few days!

These Are The Best Running Shoes Under Rs 3000 For Men Who Are All For Fitness

With the fervour for fitness and sports gradually and thankfully taking over the youth, activewear - as a category - has seen a huge boost in demand. From young men taking up different sports to fitness newbies making conscious efforts to make physical exercise a part of their daily routines, this sudden surge of awareness was much needed. While most of us, as part of our fitness preparation, opt for the best activewear, ensuring there's no compromise on comfort and style - the two most important aspects of gymwear - we often fail to choose the right running shoes for ourselves. After all, when we talk about running shoes and picking the right pair, the first thing that really pops in our head is the brand to choose from, right? That's the first rookie mistake we make, because choosing the right pair of shoes is a lot more than just focusing on how sturdy or sleek your shoes are or what their brand is.  And if you are someone who has been buying running shoes using just the above-mentioned parameters, then here's something you need to consider before you spend a fortune on your next pair of running shoes: 1. Figure out what your wear pattern is: It's really important to know if you have over-pronation, which means your feet fold excessively inward while landing; or supination, which means your feet fold outward during normal motion. These two factors can really determine what is the ideal shoe structure for you, making sure you don't suffer from any unwarranted injuries.  2. Figure out if you require cushioned or minimal shoes: This is yet another important factor you need to take into consideration while scouting for the right pair of running shoes. While most of us believe that cushioned shoes are always going to be more comforting to the feet, it actually completely depends on your foot structure.  For people with high-arched feet, the fall impact is bound to be comparatively more, and that is why they absolutely NEED to have cushioned running shoes, which are designed to lessen the impact of severe injuries. And for people with low arches and over-pronation, stability shoes are highly recommended by experts all over the world. So, keeping the above two factors in mind, here's a list of some of the best running shoes under Rs 3000 for men, any one of which would make for a worthy and long-term investment. Your Foolproof Guide For Running A Marathon

Unlike your run-of-the-mill sprint, a marathon is a going to be a lot more challenging, physically draining and mentally exhausting. It will require a lot of time and effort on your end, and will also make you rely on a wider and diverse set of skills.  As such, any help you get should be welcome - especially if we keep in mind just how difficult finishing a marathon can be. Well, we at MensXP understand that, and we've come up with a few tips that are going to be beneficial to all types of runners who might be prepping for their next (or first!) marathon. So, whether you're a beginner or expert alike, here's your foolproof guide for running a marathon that'll not only help you finish it, but will also increase your chances of coming first. 1) Increase Your Stamina  © Unsplash Of all the skills you harbour, the amount of stamina you posses is going to be that one skill that'll be most tested when you'll be running a marathon. So needless to say, increasing your stamina should be pretty high on your priority, as that's basically the first step in ensuring that you finish (and possibly in the first place!) your marathon. Speaking of which... 2) Start Going On Quick Runs & Short Sprints © Pexels While going on quick runs and short sprints won't necessarily prep you for a marathon (after all, a marathon is a different beast altogether), it will help you increase your stamina and as mentioned above, that is the one skill you need to be honing in order to prep yourself for running a marathon. Initially, you can go on just a couple of such runs in a week, but it's advisable to gradually scale up that number.   3) Get The Right Pair Of Marathon Running Shoes © Unsplash You might believe that wearing any pair of marathon running shoes will do the trick, but that's actually a rookie mistake to make.  In reality, the running shoes you invest in can actually end up being the kingmaker (if you choose them wisely!) or the deal breaker (if you go for a substandard option) vis-a-vis your chances of winning your marathon.  Pro tip: While being a brand brat isn't exactly something that we recommend, when it comes to running shoes, opting for premium and reputable brands can actually become a matter of safety and avoiding potential injuries.  4) Make Sure You Stay Hydrated © Pexels You may not know if you're going to come first or last in your marathon, but the one thing you can absolutely be certain of is this - you'll be sweating buckets! So with all that water leaving your body, your chances of getting dehydrated shoot up. As such, you need to ensure that you stay hydrated. So stocking up on enough water bottles, energy drinks and hydration pouches is highly advisable.   5) Get Your Body In Shape   © Pexels No, you don't need to have six-pack abs or the biggest biceps in the gym, but you do need to get in shape. After all, the fitter you are (and the better your Body Mass Index is) the easier it will be for your body to sustain itself during the duration of an entire marathon, no matter how long or challenging the marathon may be. 6) Scout The Path You'll Be Running On © Unsplash This one should pretty much be a no-brainer. The path you'll be running on needs to be scouted and vetted by you before you run your marathon. For instance, you need to ask yourself the following questions? How long is the marathon going to be? What kind of terrain will it cover? Are there any potential safety risks that you might encounter? Conducting the proper research can, more often than not, make all the difference.

Distance Running & Muscle Loss: What Really Happens & How Much Cardio Is Required

There's this notion amongst people training for bodybuilding that cardiovascular exercises are going to kill their gains. This explains why bodybuilders spend little time on the treadmill or a spin bike.  The reason often cited for this argument is that excessive cardiovascular exercise could use up the energy which the body would otherwise use to build muscle mass. However, this is not true.  You certainly do cardiovascular exercises like running or cycling BUT a serious balance needs to be established between cardiovascular exercise, diet and weight training. Is Cardio Catabolic? © Pinterest Some people have this misconception that cardio in itself is catabolic. They think that cardio cannot be a part of muscle gaining program as it does not help with the target even remotely.  However, aerobic exercises can actually enhance your recovery from weight training by promoting blood flow and oxygen transport to your muscles. A few cardiovascular exercise sessions per week can help you achieve this BUT this is exactly what people don't understand.  The majority thinks of cardio as a supreme fat loss tool. The reality is that excess of running ruins joint health, elevates cortisol (stress hormone) and leads to the lynching of precious muscle mass for production of glucose. That's why a balance is essential when choosing to do steady state cardio for long hours every day.  Thus, putting up a blanket statement that cardio is catabolic is not true and has various facets to it. When Running (Cardio) Could Cause Muscle Loss © Youtube When you take up running as your daily cardiovascular routine, it depletes your calorie stores which your body needs to build and sustain muscle mass. So to prevent this, you either have to increase your calorie intake or reduce your cardio.  You have to match up the calorie expenditure that is being done by daily cardiovascular exercise or you need to reduce your cardio to fewer sessions a week to prevent any muscle loss.  Generally, everyday cardio is not recommended for gaining optimum muscle mass. Two days in a week or a maximum of three sessions a week are enough. Also, the days on which you perform cardio, your calorie intake should be more to make up for the lost calories so that you can maintain the calorie surplus throughout the week. Symptoms of Excessive Cardio Everybody has different metabolism and different training experience. Thus, the exact cardio to weight training combination is not that easy to judge. If not done smartly, this could very well turn against your target. Thus you should always be alert to notice any signs of cardio overload.  These signs include; feeling of fatigue and lethargy even after a couple of hours of workout. Some people also suffer from mood changes due to elevated levels of cortisol which happens due to excessive cardio. Joint pain and aches are also sometimes signs of overdoing cardio exercises.  Thus you need to make sure that you are not experiencing any of these signs and if you do notice them, then preferably you should reduce your cardio workouts.
