A few weeks ago, SS Rajamouli’s Telugu-language film RRR was released and broke several records pan-India.

While many celebrities from the Hindi film industry also watched and lauded the film, one of them put up a question that has crossed every movie fan’s mind at least once.

It was Salman Khan who wondered and asked why Hindi films don’t work as exceptionally in the South as their films work with the audience from the North.

The question was valid since South Indian films, be it RRR, Bahubali series or KGF: Chapter 1, have been loved by fans all across the country while Hindi films don’t mint as much money in the South as it does from the rest of the states.

KGF series actor Yash, who is all set to release a sequel to his film KGF: Chapter 2 this week, recently responded to Salman’s thoughts in an interview with Bollywood Life and we finally have an answer.

He said, “Our films also never used to get this kind of recipient, but what is happening from that part of the world, they have started playing dubbed versions here, people became familiar with the content of what we are creating.”

Yash added that South films were not given importance because of the kind of dubbing that was done but gradually people got familiar with the content, storytelling and direction over the years.

“What worked today is people got familiar with our way of storytelling, our cinema, so it has not happened overnight,” he said adding, “And then we got a straight instant connection with Baahubali, SS Rajamouli sir, Prabhas they took that initiative followed by KGF.”

About Salman making the honest and candid comment, Yash said, “We have watched a lot of films of Hindi stars, we all love them, but the market potential – have they lived up, penetrated it – definitely, there is a huge potential in what I feel and Salman sir is right in that aspect but it isn’t that we don’t watch, we have been watching them but the thing is maybe they should see other aspects also other than just releasing the film actors.”

We couldn’t agree more.

KGF: Chapter 2 hits the screens on 14th April 2022 and is estimated to break even RRR’s BO collections.
