  1. HP has been making some of the most incredible laptops lately and their new Spectre x360 is one of those notebooks that was designed to impress. The Spectre line up, for those of you who don't know, has a lot of premium notebooks and they're known for their performance and sleek design. HP recently updated its Spectre x360 for 2019 and it's arguably one of the best two-in-one notebooks we've used so far. Well, I've been using the new 2019 HP Spectre x360 for quite some time now, and here's my full review. 1. Design and Build Quality © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP When it comes to the design of the Spectre x360, there's hardly anything to complain about. It's by far the most beautiful laptop I've ever used and I am coming from the Alienware m15 R2, which I touted to be amongst the most beautiful gaming laptops. It has a top-notch build quality and it screams premium from any and all angles you look at it from. I specifically like how the top left and right corners of the notebook are diagonal. There's a power button on the side whereas there's an additional USB Type-C port on the other, which I mostly use for charging. © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP Since this is a two-in-one notebook, it's furnished with a 360-degree hinge. You can rotate the screen and transform it into a tablet-like device or set it up in tent mode, which is great for watching media. Quite frankly, I wasn't expecting to use the X360 in the tablet mode, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't. In fact, using the x360 in the tablet mode is what I found myself doing the most. The touchscreen experience was great, at least better than forcing myself to touch the screen while using it in the normal mode. And since it's so lightweight (under 1.5Kg), it was super easy for me to carry it around. © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP If you are looking for a premium laptop with the exceptional build quality, then I'd say look no further. The HP Spectre x360 is one of the most attractive laptops out there and the fact that it's so portable, makes it an easy sell. It simply looks astounding. 2. Display The variant which I got to review came with a 13.3-inch 4K AMOLED panel. All the HP Spectre x360 panels measure 13.3-inch and they all support multi-touch in order to be used in the tablet mode. Though the touch screen works without any issues with fingers, HP is giving a stylus at no extra cost with every purchase of the Spectre x360. © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP That's great because it comes in handy at times and buying one can usually be quite expensive. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla glass, so you don't have to worry about any scratches or damages even while using it in the tablet mode. Regardless of the mode that I was using it in, the display was fantastic. And it's an AMOLED panel, it had deep blacks and punchy colours, which is how I like the displays. Watching Netflix, or simply browsing through different web pages looked great on this notebook. And it's a 4k panel, so everything was nice and crispy too. © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP It's also on-point when it comes to brightness and colour accuracy. The 4k model isn't available in all the market, but if it's available where you live and if your budget allows for it, then I'd say just go for this one. It's so worth the extra money. 3. Keyboard and Trackpad The HP Spectre has a chiclet-style keyboard with well-spaced keys and decent travel. As a writer, I completely enjoyed using the keyboard to churn out articles. I can always appreciate hefty clicks and satisfying responses, and that's exactly what I got from the Spectre. It's an attractive keyboard with a large and easy-to-read font. The keys also have two levels of backlighting, so you won't have any issues using it at night. © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP As for the trackpad, well, I'd say it's pretty decent. I would've preferred a slightly larger trackpad, but given the fact that the Spectre x360 itself has a pretty small form factor, there's not much room to complain. But other than that, I think the trackpad is pretty solid. It has Windows Precision Drivers and it had absolutely no trouble keeping up with my rapid movements. Also, since the Spectre x360 has a touch panel, I found myself using it more often than using the trackpad itself for things like selecting an item, copy and paste, etc. There's also a fingerprint scanner on the keyboard deck to let you get in using Windows Hello. 4. Ports © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP The HP Spectre x360 won't satisfy your hunger for ports, but I promise that it won't leave you hanging in search of a dongle. On the left side, you get a drop-down USB A port along with a headphone jack. On the right, you get two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a microSD card slot and a switch to kill the webcam. © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP Yeah, it doesn't have too many ports, but I think it's just enough to keep you going. I just wish one of the thunderbolt 3 ports was on the other side of the laptop, so I could charge it from either side. But that's just me and it's nothing to worry about. 5. Audio © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP The Spectre x360's speakers are below the chassis, which is probably the worst place to put a speaker. There are no two ways about it. I mean, they're still good enough to fill a medium-sized room but imagine but there's still something missing. The speakers are tuned by Bang and Olufsen, but that doesn't really make up for the poor placement. It sounds nice and crispy, but don't expect anything that would make you want to get and dance. 6. Performance The variant which I reviewed was equipped with a 10th gen Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM. During my usage, I'd say the laptop managed to hold up pretty well for my everyday use. I didn't encounter any snags while using it, which is always a good sign. This isn't a gaming laptop, so I obviously didn't use it to check off a couple of Fortnite matches. But it managed to handle a stress test by loading about 15 odd Google Chrome tabs, out of which many of them were playing videos. © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP The new 10nm chipset gives the Spectre x360 upgraded Iris Plus graphics. It managed to score well over 18,000 on Geekbench test surpassing some other competing laptops in this space. Honestly, I won't be surprised if you managed to load Fortnite and get a couple of "Victory Royale" as long as you're not cranking up the graphics. Overall, I'd say the HP Spectre x360 is a powerful machine that can take care of all your day-to-day tasks without any issues. The added versatility of having a touch panel and stylus makes it very useful in many scenarios. This is the kind of laptop that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a portable and powerful notebook for college or work. 7. Battery Life I am usually very sceptical about the battery life when it comes to super portable machines like this, but the HP Spectre x360 was beyond surprising. I was constantly getting around 10 to 11 hours of battery life with my workload on a daily basis and that's quite impressive. In fact, I never bothered carrying the charger to work with me knowing that I have enough juice to push through a regular day. It's that good. Obviously, it'll depend on the kind of work you're doing too, but I'd say it'll still give impressive battery performance. 8. The Final Say © Karthik Iyer/ MensXP So, the HP Spectre x360 starts at Rs. 1,24,990 in India. The variant which I got to review will cost you Rs. 1,74,990, which is a lot of money. However, I think the HP Spectre x360 is definitely worth it. Yes, there are a lot of other 2-in-1's in the market, but I doubt if any of them are nearly as premium as the Spectre x360. And the fact that it's fitted with the latest and the greatest hardware, makes it a really compelling option. A beautiful design, compact form factor, slim bezels around the display, and stellar battery life. Honestly, if it wasn't for the poorly placed speakers on this laptop, I would've given it a perfect score. If you're looking for an ultraportable laptop for your day-to-day work with great build quality and impressive performance, then I'd say just get the HP Spectre x360. You won't be disappointed with your purchase. View the full article
  2. 1917, is one of the best war-films released in 2019 across the globe and on 17 Jan, 2020 in India, that is sweeping the award season this year. But the reason why 1917 is so unique is that the film design makes the viewer believe that everything was shot in one single cut. Set in April 1917, the film takes place during the first World War. Germans have retreated back from the French territory mysteriously and without warning, later, it's found out that it's a trap set by the Germans. The British Battalion of 1600 men set to attack the Germans on the Hindenburg Line the next morning could potentially lose their lives in this trap. The film follows the mission of two soldiers Dean-Charles Chapman as Lance Corporal Blake and George MacKay as Lance Corporal Schofield who are asked to deliver the message to the battalion and further asking them to stand down. The pair has to cross the vast "no man's land" filled with the debris of dead soldiers and scavengers feasting on these bodies. © DreamWorks Pictures This anti-war film doesn't follow the generic format of the war-genre with a redemptive arc for the protagonist. Instead, the film focuses on making this mission an experiential one. You'll feel like following the two soldiers. Directed and co-written by Sam Mendes, the film features Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, Claire Duburcq, Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch among others in pivotal roles. With stunning visuals and exceptional narrative, the film has historical roots but is certainly not based on a true story. Here are seven real-life historical connections with the film that make the narrative even more compelling. © DreamWorks Pictures 1. Sam Mendes's grandfather, Alfred H. Mendes served as a soldier in World War 1 for the British army on the Western Front and was sent on a mission in which he had to traverse across the âno man's landâ. However, the plotline in this film is largely inspired by his experience and the characters are fictional. The mission was written by the scriptwriters and most events are fabricated versions of the real-life event. The narrative to save a soldier's brother and his entire battalion is an incredible tale but it's important to note that the story is necessarily not a true one. © DreamWorks Pictures 2. It's true that the Germans obliterated everything in their wake, that could potentially be used by the Allies while retreating, creating a vast âno man's landâ. Roads, bridges, and water pipes were all destroyed in case the Allies moved forwards. Instead, booby-traps and barbed wire were set up which is represented in the extremely authentic set design in 1917. Itâs partly based on real-life events. © DreamWorks Pictures 3. In real life, Mendes's grandfather was given the Military Medal after volunteering to locate soldiers during the Battle of Passchendaele. This instance inspired the discussion between the two soldiers in the film about the honour of a military medal. McKay's character had received one and claimed it as a "piece of tin" that he traded for wine when he was thirsty. While Chapman's character held it as a symbol of pride and was rather excited to receive one. © DreamWorks Pictures 4. During the war, these trenches went on for miles of complicated twists and turns. The trenches on the Western Front were a pivotal feature of WWI and were created with as much accuracy as possible in the film. They hired a British Army veteran, Paul Biddiss, to act as a technical adviser to make these trenches in the film look as authentic as possible. The crew had dug about 2,500 feet of trenches by the end of it. © DreamWorks Pictures 5. In the timeline that this movie is set up, in real time, the First Battle of Passchendaele (or the Third Battle of Ypres) was underway. The battle that occurs in the film is heavily modeled on the Battle of Poelcappelle, which took place during the previously mentioned battles. This battle too was based on misleading information, much like it was in the movie. During this battle, the Allies thought they had an advance, but in reality, they did not. © DreamWorks Pictures 6. The background characters in the film are seen passing time by performing certain actions that were actually done by soldiers as they 'waited' for the battle to take place. Army Veteran, Paul Biddiss lent his expertise in assigning them tasks or leisure activities possible at the front. These included using candles to kill lice, filling sandbags, or even playing chess with buttons. © DreamWorks Pictures 7. 6 April, 1917, the date the film is set is based on the events that took place on 5 April. During the war, the Germans moved their troops to the Hindenburg Line along the Aisne River. The dispute between the Allies seeing it as a 'retreat' and the Germans seeking resources and a better location was actually based on real events. Besides, 6 April was the date that the Americans entered the war. Source: SCREENRANT View the full article

  4. More than five crore people of Bihar came out together on Sunday to form a human chain of around 18000 kilometers in support of environmental conservation and eradication of social evils. The âmaanav shrinkhlaâ or the human chain was formed in response to the call of the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as part of the âJal-Jeevan-Haryaliâ campaign that focuses on protecting the flora and fauna with its main emphasis on preservation of natural resources and forests. According to Indiatimes, the efforts surpassed the previous records of 2017, wherein people came together to impose a ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol. And also in 2018 when the human chain for formed and the exercise was repeated to support the campaign against dowry and child marriage. Chief Secretary, Deepak Kumar told PTI, "Altogether 5.17 crore people took part in the human chain which was 18,034 kilometers long. The length this year was much longer than 14,000 kilometers of 2018 and 11,000 kilometers of the year before when Bihar first entered record books beating Bangladesh.â "A total of seven helicopters had been pressed into service for capturing aerial images of the event that was bound to go down in the annals of history as a record. Besides, more than 100 drone cameras have clicked photographs which showed the enthusiasm of the state's people, for which we are thankful,â he added. The exercise began at 11:30 am and the people stood around thirty minutes holding hands and CM himself was seen leading the chain at the Gandhi Maidan, Bihar. 5. If you have planned on shelling out on some extra money on grooming products, you might as well get the right one that suits your skin type. When it comes to buying these products, men usually skip this bit and end up getting random drugstore products that can do long-term damage to the skin. The manufacturers of various brands promise some astounding results. Now, when the product doesn't work, it can be downright infuriating. If this is an issue that you have been facing for the longest time, here's you can invest in the right one and compare your options for better-looking skin. 1. Beware Of Artificial Scents © istock The very first thing that you might want to consider before buying a product is to take a good look at its ingredients. The main issue is that a lot of items have scents or fillers in them that can irritate your skin. Many of them can also end up causing allergic reactions. So opt for products that have organic ingredients like essential oils as they are best suited for any skin type, 2. Harsh Detergents © istock The best of face washes can also end up ruining your skin's texture and strip you away of all the natural oil. One of the top reasons for the same is harsh detergents that are infused in these products. Stick to mild cleansers instead that are made with olive oil, activated charcoal or have a coconut oil base. Also, opt for products that have zero sulfates and are paraben-free. 3. Say No To Products With Alcohol © istock Alcohol and menthol are two evil skin irritating ingredients that you do not want in your routine. The aftershave you use is a common example of the same. Instead of using that, you can use a moisturiser to soothe your skin. Better yet, use aloe vera gel. It is handy as well as anti-septic that works well on sensitive skin. 4. Be Consistent © istock A skincare routine is like a test and you need to follow it regularly to understand if it's working or not. Some products like a face wash or sunscreen have to be used every day while exfoliants can be used twice a week. Besides a regular routine, you also need to know the right order in which you have to use all your grooming products. Once you have mastered the art, these skin problems will hardly exist. 7. In a rather bizarre incident, Facebook issued an apology for translating Chinese President Xi Jinping's name from Burmese to English to 'Mr. Sh*thole' on its platform for some users. If you've ever scrolled Facebook, you will notice the 'translate' tab next to anything that's not in your preferred or chosen language. Unfortunately though, Facebook's big gaffe came to light when the Chinese President's name was translated to an obscenity instead of his actual name. © Reuters The Chinese President, over the weekend, met Myanmar's leader Aung San Suu Kyi to enhance bilateral relationships between the two countries. The post, originally written in Burmese, Facebookâs translation into English referred to Mr Xi as âMr Sh*tholeâ, six separate times. © Reuters âMr Sh*thole, President of China, arrives at 4pm,â the translation stated. âConsultant Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is friendly. And the president of China, Mr Sh*thole, signed a guest record of the house of representatives.â it continued with the very apparent error! Facebook gave out statement declaring it was a technical glitch form their end on an account of the mistranslation. "We fixed a technical issue that caused incorrect translations from Burmese to English on Facebook,". This should not have happened and we are taking steps to ensure it doesn't happen again." said Andy Stone, a spokesman for Facebook, while making a statement. Burmese is the official language of Myanmar and it's spoken by two-thirds of the population there. âThis issue is not a reflection of the way our products should work and we sincerely apologise for the offence this has caused.â Andy Stone further added. © Reuters Social networking in general relies heavily on automated moderators to fix content that isn't right, as well as taking feedback and reports from its users. The issue wasn't fixed urgently but took several hours to be resolved. Facebook is now carrying an investigation into the whole matter. Facebook also admitted that Mr Xi's name had not been fed into the database that translates Burmese into English. So, in instances when data for a particular word is missing, Facebook guesses the translation closest to the syllables used for the said word. Hence the translation for Xi or Shi, in Burmese also produced 'Sh*thole', unfortunately. Umm. Facebook seems to be translating âXi Jinpingâ written in Burmese as âMr Shitholeâ. This is a post on Aung San Suu Kyiâs official page, recounting her meeting with him yesterday... h/t @felizysolo âkingdom of Mr Shitholeâ pic.twitter.com/B4V2cYjPJw â Poppy McPherson (@poppymcp) January 18, 2020 Although, coverage of the gaffe was censored in China, as the flow of information is controlled by the government there, it didn't stop the entire World Wide Web to know about this absurd mistake made by Facebook. 8. When we were in school or college, every time we got caught copying from our friends, our teachers used to embarrass us in front of the whole class, before saying the universal dialogue, "Nakal ke liye akal ki zarurat hai." Looks like Urvashi Rautela bunked all those classes in school. In 2018, Urvashi posted a huge rant on Instagram about how there was so much negativity around her. While she thought that her fans would support her and shower her with all the positivity she needed, they trolled her instead because Gigi Hadid had similar thoughts and posted it before her. Basically, Urvashi Rautela was caught copying Gigi's post. 9. Just when we thought this Monday too will be another boring day, which in an ideal world should not exist, Ayushmann Khurrana came around, said "Hold my beer" and dropped the trailer of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. The trailer has all the ingredients for a classic romcom recipe - two people meeting and falling in love, intense drama, dirty jokes, a kiss, DDLJ moment and tons of laughter. But, there's a twist. The boy's parents and society are against his love and want him to marry someone else. A girl, because their son is gay and his boyfriend is not willing to let go of his love. © T-Series How the two lovers try to convince their family to accept them for who they are and their love weaves the rest of the plot. Ayushmann Khurrana and Jeetu plays lovers in the movie that takes a dig on Homophobia in the brutally hilarious way possible. That DDLJ ending was surely like the icing on the cake. Written and directed by Hitesh Kewalya, the movie also stars Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Manvi Gagroo, Pankhuri Awasthi and more and is expected to release on February 21 2020. 10. The three-match ODI series between India and the visiting Australian team came to an end in favour of the hosts on Sunday after the experienced Indian batsmen paved way for the younger, more energetic players to chase down the total in style. Two of the best batsmen in the world, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played their natural games - Sharma with his fireworks, capitalising on every opportunity to hit boundaries, and Kohli keeping in pace with the required run rate with quick singles in the early and mid phases of the Indian innings. INDIA WIN A clinical performance by #TeamIndia as they win by 7 wickets and clinch the series 2-1.#INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/LnhgbjdDI8 — BCCI (@BCCI) January 19, 2020 Having said that, there was one man who had the potential to become the bane of success for the Men in Blue during the three 50-over matches between Mumbai, Rajkot and Bengaluru - Adam Zampa. As a 27-year-old, Zampa has already made a name for himself as one of the more successful leg spinners and his reputation preceeded him ahead of the series. Before the first match at Wankhede, the Australian had dismissed Kohli three times in the given format of the game. The Indian batting lineup was taken by surprise with the level bowling produced by the men from Down Under and history repeated itself when Zampa picked the skipper's wicket for the fourth time on January 14. Kohli falls to Zampa once again...for the 4th time in the ODIs. No spinner has dismissed Kohli more than 4 times in the ODIs. The best ball ever bowled to Kohli in the ODIs is also from a leggie. When Adil Rashid cleaned up Kohli. #INDvAUS — slowyorker (@slowyorker1) January 14, 2020 “I just don't think he [Virat Kohli] is showing Zampa enough respect and he paid the price,” former Australian cricketer Steve Waugh had commented after the match. Zampa got the best of the Indian Captain yet again during the Rajkot match. Regardless of the fact that Kohli went on to strike a heroic 78 off 76, the leggie dismissed him for a record fifth time in ODIs eight innings. He also trapped Sharma with an LBW eight runs ahead of his half-century. Virat Kohli dismissed off the bowling of Adam Zampa for the 5th time in his ODI career. Among the bowlers who have played ODIs against Kohli, only Ravi Rampaul has dismissed Virat Kohli more often (6 times). #INDvAUS — Israr Ahmed Hashmi (@IamIsrarHashmi) January 17, 2020 Finally, Zampa picked the most important wicket of the day during the Bengaluru match when he forced Sharma to go for a big shot which led to him getting caught at the boundary by Mitchell Starc. Rohit Sharma skies one off Adam Zampa, falls for 119 India still need 80 off 78https://t.co/ECkYWX3Mmh | #INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/rDJnNZH0Nq — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) January 19, 2020 While Zampa was responsible for removing the biggest names of the game from the crease in three consecutive matches, it was also evident that they were afraid to take risks against the bowler. Both Sharma and Kohli tried to live through his spell and waited for his six deliveries to get over before they could slam other bowlers for boundaries. But how is it that the spinner was able to create such terror in the hearts of two of the most fierce hitters of the sport? In an interview with ESPNcricinfo, Zampa explained: “I keep saying India is one of the toughest places to tour. I think keep it simple, don't be too hard on yourself. Preparation against these guys is really important. Virat [Kohli] is a really intense player, so body language is really important,” he said. “The conditions here, you see a lot of dew at night time so a couple of preparations with the wet ball is really important. And obviously you prepare differently for different guys,” he continued. “So, someone like Virat, you know he's sweating on bad bowling, he's got his strengths. And then you have guys like Rohit [Sharma], who obviously is a six-hitter, he loves hitting boundaries. You might bowl some good balls to him and he might defend them but you know that he's going to come hard at you, early or at the back-end of your over. So it's definitely individualised preparation. “I think very minor variations; good defensive bowling is important here. I don't think over-attacking as a leg spinner is really beneficial sometimes particularly on smaller grounds. I think your best ball and your best defense as a bowler is really important,” he added. 11. Looks like Jeff Bezos' three-day visit to India was a successful ride. He attended a company event where he announced that Amazon will make an investment of $1 billion into India to digitize enterprises. Amazon also confirmed that it'll open up as many as a million job opportunities in the country, which is always a good thing. Now, Bezos has also confirmed that the company will start using fully electric delivery rickshaws in the country. That's right, you'll soon start seeing your Amazon packages getting delivered in fully electronic rickshaws, which is just as cool as it sounds. Hey, India. In his tweet, Bezos wrote that these rickshaws will be fully electric and have zero carbon emissions. © Reuters For those of you who don't know, Amazon has been trying to cut emissions for quite some time now. Although they're not too far ahead in that race against other companies, but they're still putting the best efforts. After all, we're talking about a company that's delivering 10 billion items a year globally, so it's not going to be an easy feat. Amazon has pledged to use 100 percent clean energy by 2030, so we'll see how things go. These electric delivery rickshaws will definitely help though. View the full article

  13. 2434.52 metres, that is how much Virat Kohli ran between the wickets during the three-match ODI series against the visiting Australian team. The first match in Mumbai turned out to be an unlikely outing for the Indian skipper, who gave away his wicket to Adam Zampa in a caught and bowled, early in his innings. While smashing a solitary six, the batsman could only manage to put up 16 runs in Indiaâs below average total of 255. Even then, 10 of his runs came from singles. #INDvAUS â slowyorker (@slowyorker1) January 14, 2020 The other two matches were a completely different story altogether. In the second ODI in Rajkot, 78 runs came off Kohliâs bat in 76 deliveries as he helped opener Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul build a mammoth total of 340 after being asked to bat first by Aaron Finch. Out of Kohliâs 78-run stint, he scored 54 of them by taking singles and changing strikes with his partner. Yesterday Shikhar Dhawan Was Disappointed He Missed His 100. But Virat Kohli Was Even More Disappointed.! That's Virat Kohli For You Perfect Team Man.!#ViratKohli #KingKohli #INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/2U8icUILA3 â Tamil Viratians ð¥ (@Tamil_Viratians) January 18, 2020 And in the third ODI in Bengaluru, 57 runs of his 89-run innings came the same way as well. Even though the top-order batsman is known for a variety of qualities such as his textbook cover drive and the well-documented capacity to chase big total, Kohliâs ability to take singles often goes unnoticed. The biggest, most recent example comes from Indiaâs win over the Aussies at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday when the Men in Blue were to chase down 286 runs in 50 overs. Rohit Sharma was having his typical high-scoring game amidst which Kohli stepped onto the pitch after KL Rahul got trapped with an Ashton Agar LBW. Understanding that his deputy-in-chief was in the zone, Kohli tried to give Sharma more and more opportunities to reduce the gap as much as he could. The duo maintained a run-rate closer to what was required throughout the middle overs and prevented any massive gaps in scoring which would have returned later to haunt them. Best thing about kohli is no ego. He is happy to be silent when Rohit is playing. He is just taking singles and hitting odd boundaries. Making this partnership as big as it can. #INDvsAUS â Nishant Singh Parihar (@nsp2607) January 19, 2020 Once the opener gave up his wicket on a Zampa leggie after a masterful 119-run knock, the skip decided to take it upon himself to carry his team all the way to victory. With Shreyas Iyer on the other end, Kohli pushed for quick singles amidst a boundary every now and then. The strategy was simple. Choose the bowlers youâd like to score against and those you would just want to end their spells. For Kohli, it was Zampa, who had dismissed him five times in the last eight innings. Even then, Kohli managed to sneak four or five runs during his overs as well. It was because of Kohliâs activity between the wickets that the target felt more like cakewalk for Team India. Even though he got bowled out at the hands of Josh Hazlewood after being found to be a bit greedy for his century, it didnât affect the final result of the match. India now needed fewer runs than balls left to win, the damage was already done. Champions ð®ð³#INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/168H5qeSSa â BCCI (@BCCI) January 19, 2020 A couple of boundaries by Manish Pandey and a surprisingly good innings by Iyer and India finally won the match and the series to carry along the glory of beating one of the better Australian sides in the recent past. Kohliâs singles made it happen. They not only kept his side closer to the required run rate but also created a sense of frustration amongst the Australian fielders who couldnât stop these pesky singles from taking place. ð®ð³ð®ð³#TeamIndia ð pic.twitter.com/IQmm5Vrf8I â BCCI (@BCCI) January 19, 2020 These are the kind of things that Virat Kohli brings to the team. Things like the willingness to share the crease with his partner, watching him score big runs while standing on the other side of the pitch, and motivating younger cricketers amidst immense pressure. These qualities not only make him a great batter but also a phenomenal captain. View the full article
  14. If your New Year resolution is to look for a girlfriend this year, then you're in luck because this is what you should be reading! Now, before choosing just about anyone, remember to pick someone out who suit you the best. Someone you get along with on a fundamental level, and someone who has a basic level of empathy too. Only then you'll be able to have a wholesome relationship, if that's what you're looking for this year. © AA films So, here is some inside scoop if you're looking for a girlfriend for a meaningful relationship in 2020. (1) Make Sure She's Kind While most people, especially women are kind, there are a few who show apathy in the wrong places. Now she may not feel for a certain cause, so there's no point judging her on that. But if her overall kindness quotient is low, then trust me you can do without her. By kindness I mean, see how she talks to the support staff around her or how she treats animals in general. If you sense some bad news there, move on! © Pen Marudhar Entertainment (2) Make Sure She's Emotionally Intelligent Women intuitively have higher EQs than men, but there are times when they fail there too. Why do you need a woman with a higher EQ? Well, according to studies, men reach their level of emotional intelligence at a later stage in life, before women do. It's what helps balance a relationship in the first place. With both of your EQs being low, the relationship can go through some major issues and eventually end too. A woman who recognises her emotional capacity and challenges it, for it to grow every day, is someone with a higher EQ and that's always a good thing. © RSVP (3) Make Sure She's Worldly No, we don't really mean well travelled as such, but someone who is open to opportunities and different perspectives. Someone who enjoys adventure and the thirst to explore the unknown. The only reason this kind of a girl is in our recommendation is because she'll be knowledgeable since she loves doing her research, she'll be fun and will be open to just about anything. © UTV motion Pictures (4) Make Sure She's Passionate About At Least One Thing The sub-heading definitely gives away what I am trying to say. Girls who're hardly passionate about anything usually tend to get boring and don't have a drive. Eventually your dreams will become her dreams because she lacks passion and the ability to dream big. She doesn't have to be passionate about everything, but any one thing is good. It could be her love for something, or something she is currently pursuing. And once you meet her, you'll find out in a jiffy what she's passionate about, if at all. © Fox Star Studios (5) Make Sure She Loves Her Friends This could go either way, both for men and for women. Someone who loves their friends and is loved by their friends, is generally a grounded person. If she talks about her friends often or likes hanging out with them a lot, then she is someone who is a nurturer and will do anything to keep them happy. This also reflects on how she handles and manages her relationships. If she never gives up on friendships, then she will never give up on relationships either. An added advantage is knowing for a fact her friends love and dote on her. If that's the case, you have yourself one of the nicest girls around. © Fox Star Studios So, don't sweat it. Finding the right person takes some time but when you do find them, all the waiting and searching is really worth it. So let 2020 be your year and look for someone who has at least 3 characteristics listed above! View the full article

Which they do actually, in most cases. Anyway, I don't see any other way to justify the viral challenges like the Tide Pod challenge, Kiki challenge or the Ice Bucket challenge that took the world by storm in the last few months. But, just when we thought that people will stop doing crazy things in the name of a challenge, the 'Cereal Challenge' came around and proved us wrong. Initially, Jonny, a Korean-American residing in Los Angeles, lacked self-confidence as a kid. After high school, he enrolled himself under the US special Warfare Command. In a recent interview with media, he explained how he decided to change his life. “Going into the Navy was the best decision I ever made in my life because it completely transformed that scared boy who didn't have any dreams to someone who started to believe in himself”, he said. While he was on a mission, said reports, he saw a fellow soldier being shot on the face as Kim failed to provide the required medical aid. He felt helpless and eventually decided to study medicine. © Twitter Keeping the prodigal streak alive, Kim studied medicine at Harvard University and specialised in emergency medicine, the reports suggested. In 2017, he eventually applied for a NASA program and well, no surprises here, he got selected. 17. Due to the ongoing protest in Delhi against the CAA and NRC, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal has recently given a thumbs up to Delhi Police Commissioner to have the power to detain people under the NSA (National Security Act, 1980) from January 19, 2020 to April 18, 2020. The Delhi Police claims it is a routine order that is regulated every quarter in order to maintain law and order in the country. However, keeping the current scenario of the country in mind, the police can detain any individual under this act who is seen as a threat to the national security or tries to harm the law and order in any way without any charges. The detained individual under this act is not charged by the police. © BCCL What Is The National Security Act? The NSA was brought in by the Indian parliament as an act in the year 1980. The act is focused on maintaining law and order in the country and is used for detention for individuals who try to hamper the law and order of the state or country. The act applies to the whole of India except Jammu and Kashmir. The Act gives power to state and central government to detain people in order to prevent them from acting against the national security of the country or if they hamper relations of India with any foreign country or break the law and order in any way or if they disturb public order as well. NSA lets the official detain an individual without any charge sheet in the court and can detain the individual for up to twelve months. © BCCL Now, you must be wondering how is this any different from regular detention. Here you go! Usually, when a person is detained, he or she is informed the basis on which the detention took place or on what grounds they have been taken into custody but it is not the same with NSA. NSA gives unambiguous power to the government to keep the person in jail for days without informing them about the grounds of their charges and their right to bail is taken away. Moreover, they aren't allowed to talk to their lawyers. The detained cannot take their lawyer's help and can be detained for up to 12 months. A similar order was also issued on January 14 in Andhra Pradesh. View the full article

  20. Have you ever inspired a child to think outside the box and have them do something else for another person? I know this question is rather vague but in all seriousness, the children today are very impressionable and they only act or react on how people around them think, choose, behave and act. So, in order to make sure your child, or any child around you adopts the best of qualities in them, you have to be an example of something you want them to learn in the first place. We have a living example of that amidst us and we can learn a thing or two from her. Tunisha Khusroo Poacha, a 6-year-old, who'd seen her father donating clothes and food for the Maharashtra flood survivors, asked him why wasn't he collecting school bags, stationery and books for children too. At first, her father thought she was just saying so because she saw him donate a bunch of things, but later, he realised how serious she was about helping out children who'd lost an opportunity to complete their education, due to the floods. © The Better India Tunisha, from Nagpur, has always seen her father, Khushroo, support the needy through his NGO, Seva Kitchen. She is sensitised to issues that need humanitarian attention and help and hence, when her father helps with donations, she makes it a point to understand the larger cause at hand. When she saw him donate for the floods last year, she asked him why he wasn't doing anything for the children who were going to school. “I told her it was an oversight on my part and urged her to do something herself. She thought about it and proposed that she would donate schools bags to everyone,” Khusroo told The Better India in an exclusive interview. “My daddy gave them groceries and clothes. So I said why cannot I give them school bags?” Tunisha added, in the interview. When Tunisha and her father settled on donating school bags to the kids, her father asked her the exact number of bags she required to make the donation. Without hesitating, she picked 5,000 bags as her figure. Two months after that discussion, the six-year-old, with the help of her father, has managed to send 1000 bags to Goonj, an NGO that helps in disaster relief and management by supplying aid to the affected people and areas. Because of her efforts, low income government schools in Nagpur have received close to 1,800 bags. © The Better India Now, how the idea sprouted in a six-year-old's head to donate bags is another spectacular story! Some time ago, her uncle had gifted her a magic slate. While sitting and drawing on it one day, Tunisha asked her father, who was already helping out with donations, if there was a way to provide these magic slates for needy kids. Her father told her it would be difficult to make so many magic slate for the kids. She thought about an alternative and came up with 'The Bags of Kindness'. Now, people usually order these bags online, since they're virtually available now and the family helps as many kids as they can, through this initiative. © The Better India “I wish to give them water bottles and tiffin boxes after this", the class I student shared with The Better India. Imagine, a six-year-old's drive to help the needy has become her dream at such a young age. And she won't stop there. She will do bigger and brighter things to help them out, only because her father has been such an inspiration to her and that's the only way children today learn the good things in life! 21. In other news, names of railway stations written in Urdu on platform signboards in Uttarakhand are to be now replaced by Sanskrit. According to a report by TOI, Deepak Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railway, said, "As per the Railway Manual, the name of a railway station on platform sign boards should be written in the second official language of the state concerned after Hindi and English.” In 2010, Sanskrit was made the second official language under the rule of then CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, who is the current Union HRD Minister. © BCCL According to the rules of Railway Manual, the changes should have been made as soon as Sanskrit was made the second official language of the state in 2010. Many signboards in Uttarakhand are written in Urdu as they are from the time when the state was part of Uttar Pradesh and UP's second official language is apparently Urdu. Also, there is not much difference in Sanskrit and Hindi as both use the same Devnagri script which means nothing much will change in the spelling of name on the signboards. View the full article
  22. If you're troubled with a balding patch or receding hairline or even hair thinning for that matter, you should know that besides wigs, hair transplants and even shaving it all off, there are other alternatives out there that could prove to be the right fit for you. One such alternative is a hairline tattoo that has gained ground in recent years. What is a hair tattoo? Hair tattoo, otherwise known as scalp micro-pigmentation, is a method of cosmetic pigmentation. It is a medical, non-surgical cosmetic tattoo. Similar to traditional tattooing, it works by injecting pigment into the scalp to give the illusion of full growth. However, hairline tattooing is not at all like traditional tattooing. The contrast lies in the type of needle and kind of ink used. Traditional tattoo needles are large, deeming them unfit for hairline tattooing as they could be potentially too imprecise in replicating the look and texture of tiny hair follicles. This is, perhaps, why for hairline tattoos, microneedle is used that looks precisely like hair. However, it's assured that the final result will not look like a painted-on dot, so you don't have to worry about that. Besides this, tattoos go five layers into the skin, while micro-pigmentation only goes two layers deep. The reason behind this is because the deeper pigment is placed inside the skin, the more likely it is to lose its round shape and spread out, resulting in an unnatural look. But a good-rated professional ideally keeps this in mind while working your scalp. How do they trump wigs and hair transplant you ask? Scalp pigmentation can provide you with a result that is unique and specially tailored to your skin tone and hair colour which the professionals assess beforehand to get an authentic-looking hair growth that looks natural. Besides, the micro-pigmentation isn't only an available procedure for those who are bald. You can also get tweaks like a soft hairline and widowed peak tattooing, the “Edge Up” (also known as the “Jamie Foxx”), or adding density to thinning hair. © Getty images This treatment ideally takes about three sessions to complete, with an initial consultation to decide the style, the colour of hair in relation to your complexion etc. The first treatment session lays the foundation for the new look. The second round allows to fill in more details and go a shade darker than the initial session. It's during this treatment that your new look really comes to life and is perfected. You don't have to worry about your hair looking offputting in comparison to your natural hair when the ink is implanted into the affected area. It's matched carefully to your natural hair colour. Additionally, practitioners tend to go a shade darker than your natural colour as it gives the illusion of a shadow and the appearance of three-dimensional, natural hair. © Viral Bhayani Ranbir Kapoor is rumoured to have got his hairline fixed cosmetically. It's important to carefully select your practitioner on the basis of reviews online and a face-to-face consultation to get the desired result that you want. View the full article

  25. Every year, we see some sort of advancement in the display tech. From smartphones to TVs, there's a lot happening in the display space and we can't wait to see what comes our way in the future. In the meantime, there's a company called Mojo Vision, that's showcasing what it believes in the future of display tech. A smart contact lens that acts as a display. Yes, you read that right. So, Mojo Vision showcased a single lens that's embedded with some circuits with a tiny dot in the center. © Mojo Vision Mojo Vision is essentially making a smart contact lens that'll act as a display. Obviously, the tech is nowhere close to being ready, which is why we said it's the "future of display". At CES (Consumer Electronics Show) this year, Mojo Vision was showing lens with some sort of text displayed in a loop. The company says there is a ton of text info that can be displayed. You can see things like time, date, health data, heart rate, and more. You can also read messages from your friends. It sounds very similar to the smart glasses, but except in this case, it's a lens. Besides, it also says they're still working to make smart contact lens a true solution. They want the product to be so good that it's ready to enter the market as something that people can buy and wear it on a daily basis. That makes sense, but we're not entirely sure if/ when that'll happen. © Mojo Vision However, imagine a world in which you're wearing just a contact lens to consume the media. No additional devices required whatsoever. Heck, you don't even need a smartphone or a pocket device. It could be as simple as talking to a digital assistant and getting things projected on the lens. It's certainly the kind of cyberpunk world we want to live in, but it could be many years away from now. Source: WIRED View the full article
