Police cordoned off the area soon after the LPG tanker drove over the railway track near Sahiwal. 

SAHIWAL: A major mishap was averted on Wednesday as an LPG tanker drove over a railway track near town 132 NL after its brakes failed railways sources said.

The police immediately cordoned off the area, in the presence of bomb disposal squad and rescue teams.

A heavy crane was called to the site of incident to remove the tanker from the railway track.

Trains delayed

Traffic on the down lane to Karachi was suspended with immediate effect, railway sources said.

Khyber Mail en route Karachi was stopped at Sahiwal Railway Station.
