KARACHI: Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday expressed hope that the apex court verdict will help in deterring corruption in high offices.

"The verdict has disapproved the contention that disqualification posed threat to democracy," said the PPP chairman.

Bilawal started the press conference with quote of Benazir Bhutto: ?Nawaz Sharif may succeed in conspiring against me but one day he will cry and remember me and my father.?

He added that PPP has always supported democracy and state institutions.

"Nawaz not presenting himself before the parliament for accountability undermined the house."

Bilawal also said the PPP is in consultation with other parties and will file a candidate for the post of prime minister. He also said the PPP supports "accountability across the board".

He said it is imperative for all political parties to accept the apex court verdict.

"The PPP is an ideological party and we will stay with the ideology we have followed since the inception of the party," further said the PPP chairman.

Answering a question, Bilawal said the PPP is ready for every situation and further said that plans have been made and will be followed through.

The Supreme Court announced its verdict in the Panama Papers case, disqualifying Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for failing to disclose his un-withdrawn receivables constituting assets from UAE-based Capital FZE in his nomination papers for the 2013 elections.

Following the announcement of the verdict, Nawaz Sharif stepped down from the post of prime minister
