Apple Accidentally Revealed The iPhone 8 Design

<p>If you have been searching the interwebs for iPhone 8 news and what it may feature, well it seems like Apple may have revealed the iPhone 8's design by mistake. We all know that the iPhone 7s/7s Plus will not be too different than the current generation, however, we all are expecting a third model by Apple which will have a radical new design and a different set of features.</p> <p class="articleimg"><img id="ed-img" class="art-lazy imwidth-full" title="Apple Accidentally Revealed The iPhone 8 Design Hidden in HomePod Firmware" data-original="http://media.new.mensxp.com/media/content/2017/Aug/apple-accidentally-revealed-the-iphone-8-design-hidden-in-homepod-firmware1-1501581297.jpg" alt="Apple Accidentally Revealed The iPhone 8 Design Hidden in HomePod Firmware" src="http://media.new.mensxp.com/media/content/2017/Aug/apple-accidentally-revealed-the-iphone-8-design-hidden-in-homepod-firmware1-1501581297.jpg" />© Twitter</p> <p>The third smartphone will be a high-end iPhone that will have an astronomical price tag and will have new features such as a Face unlock. The iPhone 8 will also have a bezel-less screen that wraps around the speaker and cameras on the top.</p> <p class="articleimg"><img id="ed-img" class="art-lazy imwidth-full" title="Apple Accidentally Revealed The iPhone 8 Design Hidden in HomePod Firmware" data-original="http://media.new.mensxp.com/media/content/2017/Aug/apple-accidentally-revealed-the-iphone-8-design-hidden-in-homepod-firmware3-1501581320.jpg" alt="Apple Accidentally Revealed The iPhone 8 Design Hidden in HomePod Firmware" src="http://media.new.mensxp.com/media/content/2017/Aug/apple-accidentally-revealed-the-iphone-8-design-hidden-in-homepod-firmware3-1501581320.jpg" />© Twitter</p> <p>Troughton-Smith and bunch of other developers have been busy examining the code inside the Apple HomePod, and they discovered that it pretty much contains most of the codebase for iPhones. Apple accidentally pushed out a firmware update for the HomePod yesterday, and a few developers got a hold of the code. From the code, they discovered that the LED lights on top may light up and also discovered other features about the next iPhone. </p> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">I can confirm reports that HomePod's firmware reveals the existence of upcoming iPhone's infra-red face unlock in BiometricKit and elsewhere <a href="https://t.co/yLsgCx7OTZ">pic.twitter.com/yLsgCx7OTZ</a></p> — Steve T-S (@stroughtonsmith) <a href="https://twitter.com/stroughtonsmith/status/891841607728844801">July 31, 2017</a> <p>The intrepid developers also discovered a schematic of the new iPhone as the form-factor was buried in the software. It revealed the below design:</p> <p dir="ltr" lang="en">But wait, there's more: images of the new iPhone form-factor are also present. ð A lot of people at Apple are going to have a nasty Monday… <a href="https://t.co/BdmasKVVgI">https://t.co/BdmasKVVgI</a></p> — Steve T-S (@stroughtonsmith) <a href="https://twitter.com/stroughtonsmith/status/891844471071141891">July 31, 2017</a> <p>It is not clear as to why the HomePod firmware was released to the public, but we can assume that someone is going to face the music at Apple for this huge mistake. In fact, some developers are reporting that the firmware can still be downloaded by anyone. </p> <p>The second feature that may have been confirmed by the code leak is the face detection capabilities of the iPhone 8. The lines of code for “BKFaceDetect” was discovered where “BK” probably refers to “Biometric Kit”. There are also references to a front-facing infrared camera which will be able to detect a user's face even in the dark.</p> <p class="articleimg"><img id="ed-img" class="art-lazy imwidth-full" title="Apple Accidentally Revealed The iPhone 8 Design Hidden in HomePod Firmware" data-original="http://media.new.mensxp.com/media/content/2017/Aug/apple-accidentally-revealed-the-iphone-8-design-hidden-in-homepod-firmware2-1501581345.jpg" alt="Apple Accidentally Revealed The iPhone 8 Design Hidden in HomePod Firmware" src="http://media.new.mensxp.com/media/content/2017/Aug/apple-accidentally-revealed-the-iphone-8-design-hidden-in-homepod-firmware2-1501581345.jpg" />© Twitter</p> <p>The leaked design from the code is in line with numerous picture leaks that have surfaced online in the past few months. It confirms that the iPhone 8 will not have a home button on the front, narrow bezels all around except the ear speaker, camera and sensor area. The leaked design does not show the rear of the upcoming smartphone which has been rumoured to sport a dual camera setup like the iPhone 7 Plus. However, the iPhone 8 will probably have a vertical setup as compared to the iPhone 7 Plus' horizontal camera design.</p> <p></p>
