LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday said that the party has decided to serve a legal notice to former PTI member Ayesha Gulalai and demanded that she apologise.

Addressing a press conference, the PTI leader, flanked by women party leaders of the party, said that Gulalai was used for character assassination of party chairman Imran Khan.

He also said that Gulalai has been asked to resign from her MNA seat and if she doesn?t the party will ask the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-notify her.

?[Ayesha Gulalai] is in violation of Article 63 by not resigning,? said Chaudhry.

Former PTI MNA Ayesha Gulalai alleged on Tuesday that Imran Khan had sent her inappropriate text messages, but did not reveal any other details to support her allegations. She had also alleged that the ?honour of women is not safe? in the party.

PTI leader Alia Hamza strongly rebutted allegations of sexism and harassment in the party, saying she is part of the core committee and is respected in the party.

?Why did Gulalai continued to part of the party if she had received [objectionable] message,? she asked.

PTI demands ECP de-notify Nawaz Sharif as PML-N president

Criticising the ruling party, Fawad asked why former prime minister Nawaz Sharif continues to occupy the presidency pf the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The PTI leader demanded that the ECP send a notification disqualifying former prime minister Nawaz Sharif from party presidency.

He said only a person who is eligible to be an MNA can head a party. Since the Supreme Court has disqualified Nawaz Sharif in the Panama Papers case, he no longer should be the party?s president.

?PML-N currently is an illegal party. We don?t understand why has ECP not notified [Nawaz] about party presidency,? Chaudhry said.

Chaudhry also asked that Hudaibiya Papers Mill case against the Sharif family be reopened and volume 10 of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) be made public.
