Perhaps the most complete batsman and arguably the most-worshipped cricketer in the world, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar holds just about every batting record worth owning in the world of cricket. He has scored the most runs and hundreds in both the Tests and ODIs.
While Tendulkar was surely on top of his game in cricket, he has failed to emulate his success in Parliament. India's biggest sports icon has been one of the worst performers in terms of attendance in the Rajya Sabha. So much so that Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agarwal had even voiced his displeasure for his absence from Rajya Sabha.
Speaking in the Upper House of Parliament, he said: βThey should resign if they are not interested in Parliament They are hardly present in Parliament". It wasn't the first time when Agarwal has raised the issue.
Back in March, Agarwal came out all guns blazing against Tendulkar and Bollywood actress Rekha for the same issue. βWe have been yearning to see the presence of nominated members. They never come to the house. The entire session is over, but we haven't seen them, be it Tendulkar or film actress Rekha or others," he had said.
While Rekha is yet to do something about it, Tendulkar decided to make an exception as he attended the proceedings on 3 August. Though he attended the session, Tendulkar was passive at best, and didn't ask any questions either.
Apart from the Little Master, boxer Mary Kom was also present in the Upper House. But, between Tendulkar and Mary, it wasn't really hard to guess who social media users began trolling at the end of the day.
