ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf submitted a petition on Monday asking for a ban on the protest rally of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, which is said to depart from the capital to reach Lahore on Wednesday.

PTI local leader Usman Basra submitted the application to the high court against the former PM?s rally.

The leader made the federal government, district administration, PML-N and Nawaz Sharif party in the application.

He mentioned in the application that the rally is tantamount to damaging the freedom of the judiciary.

The rally?s purpose is to put the National Accountability Bureau under pressure, hence it should be banned, the application stated.

Nawaz Sharif earlier announced to embark on a road trip to Lahore after he arrived in Islamabad from Murree, post-disqualification.

Nawaz Sharif met federal ministers and lawmakers earlier today to discuss preparations for his GT Road caravan, among other matters.
