Security beefed up in Lahore ahead of Nawaz's arrival

LAHORE, Aug 10 (APP): The police on Thursday further beefed up security in the provincial capital ahead of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's arrival with the GT Road rally.

According to the police, various police teams started search and sweep operations in different areas of the city, including Shahdara, Bund Road and others areas.

Police contingents also conducted search operations in various hotels, buildings and other places in order to maintain law and order in the city.

The police also conducted flag march in the city area.

The route of the PML-N rally would be properly checked by experts of the special branch and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).

It will also be cleared by sniffer dogs.

Personnel of Elite Force would also be deployed for protection of the rally when it enters the city limits.

Special contingents of commandos and police officials would be deployed at sensitive points.

Meanwhile, the local traffic police has also evolved a comprehensive traffic plan to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city.

According to the plan, four SPs, 20 DSPs, 70 inspectors and over 2,000 wardens would perform duties during the rally's arrival.
