‘BCCI Must Educate Umpires’ Virat Kohli Fans Bash Officials For Yet Another Controversial LBW

On April 9, the Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune in IPL 2022 Match 18. RCB has already won three games this season, while MI has yet to score a point after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat.

While Anuj Rawat made his first half-century in the IPL, all eyes were on Virat Kohli, who looked in top form as he led the RCB chase. Not only did he appear to be on his way to a fantastic 50, but he also appeared to be leading Bangalore past the finish line. Unfortunately, that was not to be, and after being dismissed, he was unable to contain his emotions.

Kohli was removed by teenager Dewald Brevis in the penultimate over after reaching 48 runs off 36 deliveries. He hit five fours in his inning. Brevis bowled a tossed-up delivery to the middle on the opening delivery of the 19th over, which Virat attempted to defend by pushing forward but missed. As the on-field umpire raised his finger, he was slapped on the pads, prompting a massive protest from the MI fielders.

The 33-year-old was not satisfied and immediately requested a review. Because the UltraEdge showed that the ball did not make contact with the bat and the ball-tracking showed all three reds, the on-field umpire had no choice but to stick to his previous judgement and rule the batter out. The replays were perplexing because they clearly showed the ball changing directions after touching the bat.

Virat Kohli was enraged by this and expressed his displeasure as he walked back to the bench. He cried loudly and looked up, ostensibly to show that there was a bat involved and that he had been unjustly assigned. Dewald Brevis, on the other hand, had little to cheer about when Glenn Maxwell hammered him for two straight fours to end the game.

Virat Kohli and Controversial LBW decisions, some story.

Virat Kohli reaction after he given out.

BCCI seriously need a top class TV umpire and as well as more technology to give justice to the player.#IPL2022 #ViratKohli𓃵 #BCCI

It's been second time Virat Kohli has been given out LBW despite of being bat first. How insane or how badly someone want to prove they are genuine by giving it out because he is Virat Kohli. Massive massive mistakes again and again. #ItsBatFirst #RCBvsMI

@bhogleharsha is bat-pad simultaneous touch a valid lbw appeal? (Same thing happened in December for #kohli against newzealand in a test match)

@BCCI must educate our newbie umpires too... Cricket looks easy but it isn't... Atleast rules must be followed!! #RCBvMI #MIvRCB #LBW #Kohli https://t.co/1DFg8dkoy5

Following the clash between two of the most popular franchises in the IPL, the points table is representing some shocking standings. While RCB have climbed to the third spot after winning the last three out of four matches. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians, that won the championship back in 2020 have lost all of their matches and are ninth in the league and just above the reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings, who have also not won any matches so far but also have the worst Net Run Rate in the league at the moment.
