  1. India has been investing a lot of time and money into the country's space programme and India's mission for a manned trip to the moon is clinching closer than ever. In fact, India is three years ahead to send a manned crew to space. In a report by Bloomberg, the second Indian mission to the moon will have a lander, a rover and an orbiter that will be launched sometime between July 9 and July 16. The report goes to point out that all the modules are currently prepping for the mission and the moon landing is scheduled for September 6th. © Space Prime Minister Modi announced a $1.4 billion manned mission to the moon with a deadline of 2022. The Indian Space and Research Organisation or ISRO plans to launch 32 space missions in 2019 alone. © ISRO The second moon mission is being launched with the purpose of seeking and researching a source of waste-free nuclear energy. This new met jig is said to be worth trillions of dollars. India launched its first moon mission in October 2008 and ejected a probe that discovered water molecules on the surface of the moon. The 2008 mission also successfully completed 3,40 orbits. Previously, the ISRO has broken records by launching over 100 satellites in a single launch and specialises in cost-effective space missions. India beat Russia, who had previously held the record for launching 37 satellites in a single launch. Source: Bloomberg
  2. This season of Indian Premier League has never been short of controversies right from the outset. From Ravi Ashwin's 'mankading' controversy to the 'no-ball' controversy in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) versus Mumbai Indians (MI) game, it has seen it all. And now, in the 10th match of the season, fans on social media speculated that Indian Test wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was involved a match-fixing scandal during the contest between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on Saturday. As per reports, Pant was caught on the stump mic, saying “yeh to waise bhi chaukka hai (this is going to go for a four)” in the fourth over when KKR's Robin Uthappa was on strike. On the very next ball, Robbie hit the ball for a four off Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, to get off the mark. The video of the incident went viral on social media with many fans questioning Pant on how he knew the result of the delivery even before the ball was bowled. However, the BCCI has dismissed all claims regarding the comment made by Pant. © AP “No one heard what Rishabh said before that particular sentence. He was apparently telling (Delhi Capitals captain) Shreyas Iyer to increase fielders on off-side to stop an imminent four,” a BCCI official told PTI. The BCCI official added that a young cricketer like Rishabh Pant shouldn't have been maligned in such a way on social media. “Maligning a young cricketer without even knowing the details is so unfortunate. A section of media allowed the social media to insinuate and vilify a young talent without getting into details. This is so disgusting,” the official added. Eventually, DC went on to win the match in the Super Over after finishing on 185/6 while chasing 186 for victory. Are social media trials getting too harsh? Let us know in the comments section.
  3. If there is one sport which is loved all over the globe despite its brutal tackles and some brilliantly laid out flops, it's definitely football. Football is often compared to the theatre and is fortunate to host to some of the best practitioners in the business, some of whom take their craft a little too seriously. Many players among David Luis, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo believe in showing glimpses of their acting skills on the field, rather than in the studio. Neymar even bagged a cameo in 'XXX: Return of Xander Cage' only by his diving skills on the field. Fouls still get penalised by referees but when it comes to flops, or dives as we call it, we just can't get enough of it. Diving has once again been thrust into the public eye of late, thanks to a string of game-altering moments of alleged simulation. The most recent one came yesterday when one of the greatest players in the world, Ronaldo, earned himself a free kick right outside the penalty box with yet another flop against Napoli. Alex Meret, Napoli keeper, rushed out of the penalty box to clear the Juventus ball, but couldn't touch either of them, the ball or Ronaldo. CR7, on the other hand, took full advantage of the situation and displayed his outstanding acting skills, which not only made the referee award his team a freekick but also handed Meret a red card straight away. Furious with this incident, Carlos Ancelloti, the home manager, opened up in the post-match interview © Reuters “It's a very controversial incident,” Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti said. “Certainly he didn't touch him, but it could be a thing of intent. It's not so clear this direct red, it's not a given that Cristiano would have got to the ball. “The red seems over the top to me. There's the VAR and the referee should have looked at it again why else do we have it?” Eventually, the kick taken by Miralem Pjanic was given a dazzling curl, landing it in the bottom left corner of the goal. Soon the one-goal lead was extended by Emre Can by a header, courtesy a long ball by Federico Bernardeschi. Chiellini and his men soon got the taste of their own medicine when Pjanic was shown a second yellow card for handling the ball. © Reuters The hosts reduced the deficit in the 61st minute as Callejon got ahead of the Juventus defenders to tap in Insigne's cross. Napoli laid siege to the Juventus goal and thought it had got its rewards when they were awarded a penalty for an Alex Sandro handball, but Insigne's effort rebounded off the post. With 16 points clear to the second-placed Napoli, Juventus has almost sealed their league title and now are concentrating on the match against Atletico Madrid for a place in the Quarter-finals of UEFA Champions League
  4. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", they say. The veracity of this statement has been proven long ago, in each of our individual lives, probably even before we knew about it. As children, we used to emulate 'heroes' in our own little capacities - be it their clothing, their catchphrases, or their actions. As adults, we graduated to emulating more, that included hairstyles and beard styles. Any element of the persona of an individual who managed to enamour us, we'd want to emulate. Naturally, when the person in question is a 'national hero' of sorts, the magnetism is inviolable, resulting in nationwide 'style fads'. The latest example? The mighty 'Gunslinger moustache' of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. © ANI Perhaps the only thing that the youth of the nation has been obsessed with, to a degree that almost surpasses that of the admiration for Abhinandan's nerves of steel and his rock-solid composure in the face of lethal adversity, is his Gunslinger moustache. Young men throughout the country are thronging to salons, in a quest to embrace that one element of his larger than life persona, perhaps because it is the easiest and the quickest one to emulate. However, there is more to it than it just being another 'moustache fad'. Here are 3 reasons why: 1. People seek inspiration, even when they don't consciously search for it. We all want a hero in our lives - someone we can look up to, someone who can lead us. Our not-so-latent hubris might prevent us from owning up to the fact, but our actions do testify. When Abhinandan was captured, the outpouring of sentiments throughout the nation was perhaps the most non-manufactured, genuine display of emotions we have witnessed in a very long time. Under such a scenario, young, impressionable minds will naturally want to be a part of that narrative, in their own, personal way, that's conspicuous in its own right. The moustache probably was the easiest route to that. © ANI 2. The Wing Commander has returned home, safe and sound, albeit a little shaken. However, the calamitous situation of his capture brought out that rare, all-encompassing surge of patriotism - one that took over the youth. How do you pay homage to the bravery of a soldier who stared death in the face and emerged victorious, while maintaining a dignified composure, and in extension, upheld the pride of an entire nation? The best way is to inculcate a part of that bravery within yourself. Perhaps, an apt symbolic representation, or rather, the first step to a grander scheme of metamorphosis, is etching his moustache on your very face and your identity, irrespective how trivial it might come across? © ANI 3. It's been a while since we, as a nation, have wallowed in the raw machismo that our Armed Forces are all about. The fact that they are the reason why the nation gets to sleep in peace during trying times such as this, is often taken for granted, and Wing Commander Abhinandan just reminded us of the reality once again. The man flew, with literally his life as a bargain, to a territory that spells death. Along with his uniform, he sported a moustache, a Gunslinger moustache at that - perhaps the greatest symbol of strength and machismo in popular narrative. If this doesn't strike a chord with the youth of the country, nothing else will. Fad or no fad, the country got an icon to emulate - a 'real-life hero' it was subconsciously searching for the longest time. No wonder, his moustache became the symbol of badassery. © MensXP The Abhinandan Gunslinger moustache is much more than a fad, because whether it is 'cool' or will 'remain in trend' is not even the topic of conversation here. The topic here is much bigger - one about inspiration, about respect, and more importantly, about finding a hero.
  5. Yes, the Indian cricket team lost the two-match T20I series against the visiting Aussies and yes, it is for the first time in 40 months that the Men in Blue have lost a series on their own soil. It's just one of those things you can't and mustn't complain about. This is where the sportsman spirit steps in: to be equally content in wins and losses. Major props to Glenn Maxwell who delivered under extreme pressure to seal the deal for the Australia cricket team and also made a case for himself before the selections of the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 as he scored an unbelievable 119 off just 55 deliveries. But we are here to talk about 'Thala' himself! Mahendra Singh Dhoni, at 37 years of age continues to show the batting and fitness abilities of a 25-year-old athlete. Flexible Dhoni â¤ð¥ 2.14m ðpic.twitter.com/fTnSwULGTP — Ponraj (@goking2000) February 28, 2019 In the 11th over of Team India's innings, Dhoni went of out the crease to try and hit a big one but Adam Zampa's delivery went on to be wide, completely out of the Indian batsman's range. His wicket-keeping instincts quickly took over as he extended his right leg for an astonishing 2.14 metres to get inside the line to avoid being stumped by Australian keeper Peter Handscomb. The third umpire gave a decision in favour of the batsman as the replay showed that Dhoni was too quick and well inside the crease for Handscomb to knock the bails off. Mahi had shown off his flexibility once before as well in a match against New Zealand in November 2017. 6. Samsung and Huawei kicked-off MWC 2019 with their foldable phones and we're still trying to wrap our heads around the groundbreaking technology. Social media and forums are filled with optimists as well as pessimists, and this has become the hottest topic for enthusiasts right now. Companies are ready to mass produce bendable displays, but one question still remains. How are we going to use these foldable phones in real life? How will the software compliment the hardware? It's going to take time to slowly understand different use case scenarios, and develop a finished product. © Nubia But, Nubia is taking this a level further with the launch of Nubia Alpha (styled as α). It's a combination of a watch and a phone, sporting a foldable display and the brand calls this a "wearable phone with a flexible display". To be honest, it's a fancy watch that offers more slightly more features than your regular wearable, but do we really need it right now? It sports a 4-inch 960x192 OLED screen that roughly covers half your wrist. Even though the brand claims it to be a phone, the specs say a different story. It comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, and 500mAh battery. There's also a front-facing 5-megapixel camera. Nubia suggests the device will last 1-2 days of regular use, or a week on standby. © Nubia Just like the Apple Watch, it has a built-in eSIM which you can use for calls, texts, and all that other stuff SIM cards can do. It is water resistant, has activity and sleep-tracking along with a heart-rate sensor. Well, you can see movies on the watch if you don't mind standing with your arm lifted at the right angle all the time. And, the OS is custom built. Meaning, don't expect kick-ass app support anytime soon. The OS gets voice controls, air gestures, and other intuitive controls, but we're yet to see how smooth they really are. © Nubia On paper, the watch sounds exciting but lacks any practical usage. Yes, it is technically a "phone", but then the same can be said about the Apple Watch LTE as well. The watch costs a whopping €549 (Rs 44,000) in Europe and expected to ship from the third quarter of this year. Brands need to stop blindly following trends and think about delivering a usable product. You may manage to house a foldable display, but will it offer anything substantially better to the user in day-to-day life?
  7. It's 1955. The Cold War is in full swing. Thriller writers are having the time of their life. As for the rest of us, the threat of nuclear armageddon hangs over us, like, well, a mushroom cloud. In the middle of all this, the USAF's B-52 Stratofortresses keep making sorties, flying out of bases in the UK, going up to the Soviet Union's border. Just in case… via GIPHY Fast forward to 2018. The world's changed unimaginably. The President of the United States argues with people on something we call 'Twitter'. But the B-52 is still soldiering on, flying missions in the South China Sea, reminding the PRC that the United States is still around, even if it's bogged down with fights over silly walls and whether the President had an affair! The Mean Machine - Boeing's B-52 Stratofortress The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is a legendary war machine - it's been around for longer than most of us, and thanks to constant upgrades, it's still on the frontlines. © Tech. Sgt. Nathan Lipscomb for US DoD The Balkans, the Gulf War(s), Afghanistan. It's been there, bringing a reign of destruction on people Uncle Sam doesn't like. And it's gonna be around for many years to come... The B-52 project started in 1946 - just after the Second World War ended. The Cold War was starting, and the US wanted something to maintain its dominance. Designed to carry massive nuclear (and thermonuclear) weapons, the B-52 first took to the air in 1952, entering service in 1955. The B-52 Was A Harbinger Of Doom Even though the B-52 was later used with conventional weapons - it was responsible for carrying out several 'carpet bombing' missions in the Vietnam war - it was really meant for World War Three - carrying hydrogen bombs to attack the Soviet Union if the 'balloon ever went up'. via GIPHY One of the bombs the B-52 carried was the B61- which had a yield of nearly half a megaton. Another was the Mark 39 - which, hang on to your hats, had a yield of nearly 4 megatons! For reference, the bomb that levelled Hiroshima was just 20 kilotons. Always Ready As part of Operation Chrome Dome, B-52 bombers were kept constantly airborne - the reasoning being that even if the Soviet Union managed to 'take out' the US's ICBMs on their launchpads with a first strike, the B-52s (and the US Navy's missile submarines) would be around for retaliation. Even better, they could dissuade the Soviet Union from even trying to start a nuclear war. © Senior Airman Malcolm Mayfield for US DoD All That Flying With Nukes Was Risky Did you know that we nearly faced nuclear armageddon in 1961? The US and Soviet Union weren't about to attack each other (though they came close on several occasions in the sixties). What happened was that a B-52 carrying two Mark 39 bombs broke up in mid-air, and the crew eventually bailed out. As it turns out, the two bombs fell out of the aircraft, and one of them got activated - with only one final switch preventing it from going off! The B-52 Even Shot Down A Fighter Jet! You wouldn't imagine a big, lumbering bomber to be able to shoot down one of the most legendary fighter jets ever, but that's exactly what happened in Vietnam back in 1972 - the tail gunner in a B-52 managed to shoot down the newest, deadliest jet fighter of the time - the MiG-21. A one-off? Heck, no! Another crew in another B-52 repeated this feat some days later! Pretty impressive, isn't it? © Staff Sgt. Michael Battles for US DoD This Massive Bomber Might Be In Service For Another 50 Years The B-52, like every other piece of military equipment, has been getting upgrades throughout its life - the last major version first flew in 1961, with production stopping a year later. Of course, it's been given a lot of nips and tucks over the years, with fancy new electronics being retrofitted. © Senior Airman Jonathan McElderry for US DoD That means that even the youngest B-52 is well over 50 years old - but what's even more surprising is that the USAF might keep on flying these aircraft for another half-century. That's right, the B-1 Lancer (a gorgeous machine for sure), the F-117 stealth fighter, and the B-2 stealth bomber came much later, but nothing has managed to replace the B-52! © NASA There's a new upgrade programme on its way, with new engines, and new avionics, and who knows, the next generation might grow up marvelling at this 'Big Ugly Fat F@#er' (the nickname given to it by US troops in Vietnam) which has managed to outlast every other machine!
  8. Yesterday, India was hit by one of the worst terrorist attacks with over 40 brave Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans losing their lives in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. The attack that happened by Jaish terrorists targeted a convoy with a car bomb. The country is mourning the loss of all the martyred jawans and is praying for the speedy recovery of those injured. It's terrible how something like this is what it takes to unite the country but at least everyone is in this together. Just a few hours after the attack, father of martyred CRPF Personnel Ratan Thakur talked to ANI and in a heart-wrenching message said that he is willing to send his other son to fight as well for Mother India. Another Love Story

Love transcends religion. Nothing proves this more than this short film based on the book Write India Shorts titled Another Love Story.
  10. Ever since his triumphant return to international cricket after a severe lower-back injury and a suspension levied by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), Hardik Pandya has been responding to his haters in the best way possible, i.e; by performing at an exceptional level with the bat and the ball. As a crucial member of the Indian batting order, Pandya, who has been known for his explosive big hits and mounting up big individual totals in very short periods of time, just hit a hat-trick of sixes against New Zealand's Todd Astle in the fifth and final ODI of the series. Pandya achieved this feat for the fifth time in his career. On the other hand, taking at least one wicket in almost every match he has played ever since his comeback against the Kiwis in the third ODI, Pandya has been one of India's ace bowlers through the last couple of weeks. However, the New Zealand team that lost to the Men in Blue 1-4 in the ODI series, looks completely different as the other series in the T20I format began today. Skipper Kane Williamson 's decision to replace opener Martin Guptill with Tim Seifert turned out to be a hit as the righty thrashed the Indian bowling side left, right and centre. The rest of the Kiwi batters followed suit and dominated bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed. Having said that, the bowler who got absolutely dismantled by Seifert and Co. was Indian allrounder, Hardik Pandya. With an absolutely horrible economy rate of 12.75, Pandya turned out to be the most expensive bowler for skipper Rohit Sharma, conceding 51 runs in just 4 overs! Pandya's half a ton with the ball is the worst performance by any Indian bowler against the Kiwis. whenever nz batsmen see hardik pandya#INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/vVz8PrmYux — 㤠㤠㤠㤠㤠㤠㤠ã¤ã¤ 㤠㤠㤠(@firkiii) February 6, 2019 * Hardik Pandya in First T/20 against NZ * #INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/82U9IwMzKX — Hunà¤à¤°à¤° â (@nickhunterr) February 6, 2019 Brilliant innings from Hardik Pandya ( 50 runs) and Khaleel(48) 2 short of 50 hard luck . #NZvIND — #FAN (@Sarcastic__Raj) February 6, 2019 Glad to see Hardik Pandya scored 50.. #INDVSNZ #NZvIND #INDvNZ — Silly me (@Sathish03577169) February 6, 2019
  11. All celebrity couples, of late, are a huge inspiration for the millennial generation who're trying to make their relationships work. Be it their fancy love affairs, or extravagant weddings, their public display of affection or their anniversary special wishes, celebs know exactly how to show off their love for one another, without a single iota of doubt. (c)Twitter We love reading about celebrity couples old and new and while we stumble upon some really adorable things that stay with us, we also take back some tips and tricks that can be applied in our own way. So, it's not just movies where we see them flashing their love, it's also though their Instagram handles and Twitter accounts and we came across the sweetest wish recently from a couple we've always been rooting for, and they're a great example of love, in today's day and age. (c)Instagram Genelia D'souza and Riteish Deshmukh are celebrating their 7th wedding anniversary on the 3rd of February. To honour the most important day of her life, Genelia shared a throwback picture of both Riteish and her from their wedding day, 7 years ago, with a heartfelt note. The essence of her beautiful thought was just so simple, it made me a bit teary eyed, upon reading it. She narrated how she never had a sense of the kind of man she would marry, but the man she ended up with was her 'bestest friend' who always stood by her through thick and thin. Here, check out Genelia's wish for Riteish: Every girl has a certain perception of how they would want their life partner to be... I Honestly Didn't.. I had this most amazing partner who was my bestest friend, who was the shoulder, I always found when I needed to cry and who made me believe that no matter how tough life is, with us being partners we would take it on,in any form, in any way... That's the man I eventually married and he never ever stopped being the reason for my smile... So I'm glad I never ever had a perception because the reality of living and breathing this wonderful man is all I ever needed to know.. I Love you @riteishd ..Here's to many more laughs together, to the zillion times we will wipe each other's tears and pick each other up when either/or feels weak or simply to life together forever and ever... Happy Anniversary â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸ A post shared by Genelia Deshmukh (@geneliad) on Feb 2, 2019 at 9:25pm PST While Genelia wished her husband with full love and adoration and a beautiful throwback picture, Riteish too gave his wife some social media love on their big day and thanked her for saying 'yes' to him seven years ago! We're really gushing over here! God gives each of us a chance to find true love, but it's up to us to identify it. God graces each of us with an opportunity to be in love but it's upto us to preserve it. God blesses each of us to be loved but it's upto us to make sure we deserve it. @geneliad You are god's grace & blessing in my life... Thank You for saying 'Yes' to me 7 years ago - Happy 7th Anniversary Baiko A post shared by Riteish Deshmukh (@riteishd) on Feb 3, 2019 at 1:47am PST Isn't this wish mighty endearing? I mean, the best love to count on there is the love that comes from someone you can absolutely trust and lean on and if he or she is your best friend then there is certainly nothing like it. That was exactly the case with the two love-birds who got married back in 2012 and now they have beautifully nestled in to each other's life and are a constant inspiration for the millennial couples who're still seeking 'relationship goals'. 12. 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is one of Farhan Akhtar's best-remembered pieces of acting. However, his later performances have not only just received a mild reception but have also failed to leave a mark on the audience's mind. Be it as a lead actor in 'Lucknow Central' or as a supporting actor in 'Dil Dhadakne Do', Farhan didn't quite succeed in winning over his audience with his performance, which was the complete opposite to the phenomenal response to the biopic under Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's direction. © ROMP Pictures While fans have been waiting for Farhan Akhtar to reclaim the silver screen one more time with his acting potential, there's a piece of good news regarding the same that awaits them. After an earlier announcement stating the release of Farhan's first official Bollywood movie 'The Fakir Of Venice' this Friday on 18th January, the 'Rock On!!' star has now made another happy announcement about his upcoming acting project, which will be helmed by none other than Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra! He is looking forward to working with Rakeysh again. The film should roll this year.” We really can't wait to see what the pair will whip up this time around.
  13. There used to be a time when Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte was a completely unknown name. Back in the day, with zero videos of her bouts online and not even a single news channel covering her progress, if you'd told her that one day, she is going to be ranked number 1 in the whole world by the International Boxing Federation (AIBA), she would have knocked you out cold with an uppercut for mocking her. #WWCHs2018 Finals - Light Fly (48kg)@MangteC (IND) defeats Mi Hyang Kim (PRK) and becomes 2018 AIBA World Champion!! Despite her soon-to-be coach Leishangthem Ibomcha Singh, who was responsible for bringing up around 50 international medal winners from within the state of Manipur, constantly challenging her, and her aspirations of becoming a pugilist, Mary, like any stubborn teenager, stuck to what she wanted. Living in an insurgency-bound Imphal, Mary's journey to success was full of constant terror and adversities. With endless reports of kidnappings, shootings and bombings ever since Manipur's merging with India, the idea of 'do whatever your heart says' wasn't exactly a number one priority for the people living there. In fact, the situation was so bad up there, that even Mary Kom's own father-in-law was murdered by the insurgents soon after she got married to Onler Kom in 2005. While there's no denying Mary Kom's hard work and raw passion for the sport that has taken her this far in life, it is Onler Kom, Mary's husband who has been her anchor during the experience. Full of compassion and regard for her wife, Onler has never backed out of supporting her dreams. “I knew her dreams and was ready to help her in every way," Onler told The Times of India. “I had my own dreams, but when I came to know her it changed… I married her for her simplicity and her willingness to become a successful sportswoman.” View this post on Instagram “A man's success is measured by what his wife and children say about him. Mary once said that there lies a story of struggle behind every medal that she's ever won. In her long, successful and inspirational career, the Arjuna and Padma Shri awardee has made and broken various records whilst becoming the most successful boxer in the history of Women's World Championships by winning a record 6th gold medal last year. Recently ranked Number One in the world, Mary Kom has no intentions of throwing in the towel just yet as she has already begun preparing for Tokyo Olympics 2020.

It was able to detect atrial fibrillation with the new feature and saved a man's life in Nashua, New Hampshire. Barry Maden originally bought the Apple Watch to “keep a closer eye on his health after suffering a brain injury.” He bought the Apple Watch for it's Fall Detection feature. “He originally got it because they have a new fall risk app where, if he were to fall and I'm not nearby, the fall sensor will sense that he fell and call 911,” said his wife, Tara Maden. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla He originally thought he was suffering from anxiety due to travelling for the holidays. However, his Apple Watch alerted him that his heart appeared to be in A-fib. It isn't clear if Maden used the ECG app right away to detect the A-fib. However, it was enough for him to double check if he was suffering from something serious. He soon thereafter took himself to the emergency room. © Apple At the hospital, doctors performed their own tests using a more advanced ECG device to verify the Apple Watch's discovery. It was soon discovered that Maden's “heart was essentially stopped and restarted by doctors.” The Apple Watch has been found to save lives previously and recently saved a woman from drowning in water as her car flipped over. 16. Yet another match, yet another early dismissal for the Indian Test opener, KL Rahul who faced only 5 balls before Shaun Marsh sent him away with an easy catch at slip. The 26-year-old was visibly disappointed as he walked back to the locker room bagging all but 9 runs for his first innings. View this post on Instagram Oh what a start for the Aussies! The seam position on this from Josh Hazlewood ðð A post shared by cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) on Jan 2, 2019 at 4:02pm PST Rahul has not been in form and was dropped for the third Test at Melbourne after performing poorly at Adelaide (2, 44) and Perth (2, 0). Evidently, the fans were annoyed when they saw his name in the Final 13-man squad for the extremely crucial fourth and final match of the series. In all honesty, very few believed that despite making the Final 13, Rahul would actually play today and were hoping to see an injury-recovering Ravichandran Ashwin on the field as a replacement for Rohit Sharma who is in India, visiting his week-old daughter. Despite opening the match with his best friend and U-19 teammate, Mayank Agarwal, who has been exceptionally good and consistent during the series, Rahul was unable to capitalise on the chemistry and went to the bench within no time. Come to think of it, when Sunil Gavaskar bashed India's team management a few weeks ago and suggested sending Rahul back home where he could have partnered with Manish Pandey for Karnataka for the Ranji Trophy, it does not sound like a bad idea now in retrospect. Rahul would not only have been of great significance for Karnataka but would also have a lot of matches to play and the time to get his mojo back. But there is no point crying over spilt milk now. With the ODI series at hand starting 12th January and the World Cup around the corner, what do you think is in store for KL Rahul?
  17. This was the year of weird desi-videshi crossovers, from the Nick Priyanka wedding to Athiya Shetty being BFF with Drake, and now we have one more thing to add to the list. We mostly hear about Indian artists copying stuff but how the tables turned here! Apparently, T-Pain has plagiarised the song 'Tum Hi Ho' from the movie 'Aashiqui 2'. Yep, the song that was playing on every radio station ever when it released. So basically, T-Pain's latest song 'That's Yo Money' has a recurring flute melody which apparently sounds exactly like 'Tum Hi Ho'. I honestly couldn't really figure out the melody in question and I personally don't think the two songs sound similar but maybe I'm just a little too tone-deaf. 18. Back in November, when the selectors announced the Indian squad for the T20I series against West Indies and Australia, the absence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni had left many fans and former cricketers bemused. But, amid all hue and cry, the former Indian captain clarified that he had excluded himself from the two series in order to allow young Rishabh Pant some much-needed gametime. Dhoni further backed the youngster and called him his potential successor behind the stumps. And, if anyone witnessed Pant's exploits in the recently-concluded 1st Test between India and Australia, they'd agree that the Delhi cricketer didn't disappoint. The scores of 25 & 28 (across the two innings) might not do justice to the left-hander, but, given the ever-changing match situations at the Adelaide Oval, Pant's knocks surely helped India's cause. He might not have scored a fifty or a hundred, but his biggest contribution in India's 31-run triumph, as predicted by Dhoni, came from behind the stumps. © BCCL Repaying the faith of Dhoni and the selectors, Pant made everyone proud by equalling the world record of most catches taken by a wicket-keeper in a single Test match. The Delhi cricketer took 11 catches against Australia in Adelaide and matched the heroics of Jack Russell and AB de Villiers - both of whom were earlier standing tall with the unique feat. The 21-year-old caught six batsmen - Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Tim Paine, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood - in the first innings and then took five more catches in the second. Pant equalled the world record for most catches in a single Test in the 101th over when Mohammed Shami got Starc to edge one through to the Indian wicket-keeper. For someone who considers Dhoni as his role model, Pant, then, came up with a brilliant tribute to the Jharkhand cricketer. "He's (Dhoni) the hero of the country. I've learnt a lot from him as a person and as a cricketer as well. Whenever he's around, I feel more confident as a person. If I've got any problems I can share it with him and get a solution right away," Pant told cricket.com.au. © AP "As a wicket-keeper and a player (he's taught me) to be patient in pressure situations like this (in Adelaide). You have to keep calm and keep composed and try to give 100 per cent," he added. Talking about equalling the world record, Pant said: "I never thought of the record but it's good to take some catches and put it inside my kitty. It's good to have milestones, but I'm not thinking about that too much".

Vidyarthi, who is an Assistant Manager at a mobile production unit in Uttar Pradesh, took us inside the events of the hazardous accident. © MensXP © MensXP Vidyarthi claims that the his phone was kept in idle mode next to his bed between 10:30pm and 11:30 pm, around 12-15 days ago, at the time of the incident. He was almost asleep as he realised the presence of a peculiar smell, which he describes to as “bad odour of lithium-ion smoke.” The smartphone in question reportedly went up in flames, which eventually melted the phone as pictured. From the images, it's safe to assume that Vidyarthi then dropped the smartphone in a bucket of water in order to prevent any further damage. © MensXP Vidyarthi told us over email that the smartphone “was not even on charge and was simply in resting position. The explosion was so strong that it burned the bed sheet and the mattress.” However, he was fortunate to come out unscathed. Vidyarthi has currently furnished his smartphone to the Mi Customer Service centre in Bareilly, and is waiting for a definitive response from the company. According to Vidyarthi, the Xiaomi customer care executives have asserted that the smartphone is out of warranty. © MensXP Smartphones generally tend to explode due to faulty batteries, a defective charging cable or adapter, third-party cables and erratic charging patterns. When asked about it, Vidyarthi said that he used the supplied charger and data cable that came with the Xiaomi Note 4 and not a third party cable. © MensXP The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 sports a 4,100 mAh non-removable battery and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 chipset. The SoC is coupled with 4GB of RAM and offers 64GB of internal storage. We are awaiting a response from Xiaomi India. Stay tuned for further updates.

  21. Bollywood makes two kinds of movies—one that's your typical masala movie, and other that changes the way we look at and understand cinema. Director Nandita Das is one of those few directors who picks up subjects that no one would and turn it into gold. Yeah, she is immensely talented and one powerhouse of a talent. Even when she was an actor, Das picked movies that mattered and had content that described cinema in a meaningful manner. And now when she has worn a director's hat, things haven't really changed much. Content comes first and her latest film 'Manto' is one such example. We bet you have already watched the hard-hitting trailer of the movie. Nawazuddin Siddiqui as writer Saadat Hasan Manto is incredible, to say the least. From looks, posture, aura to body language and attitude, Nawaz's resemblance to the Indo-Pakistani Urdu author is uncanny. “Sawal yeh hai, jo cheez jaisi hai usse waise hi pesh kyu na kiya jaye?” the dialogue still echoes and if it wasn't for Nawaz, the trailer wouldn't have had the same effect on us. Well, at times we do know the person but the actors bring those people back to life, introducing us to them like never before. The movie takes us through the most difficult four years of Manto's life after India-Pakistan partition. The trailer digs deep into the famous author's philosophy, his perspective of looking at life and his representation of women in the stories he wrote. We witness his struggle to support his family without compromising on his philosophies and rebelliously questioning the society and its outlook. © Viacom18 Motion Pictures The filmmaker brings an extraordinary story and looks like the cast understands its importance and the essence of what value this story holds. And you would be surprised to know that Nawaz charged Re 1 for the film and Rishi Kapoor didn't even charge a penny for it. "This is the character that an actor would give an arm and leg for. But to not charge even a nominal fee is very gracious of Nawaz. Rishi Kapoor and Gurdas Maan said yes in our first meeting. I also reached out to many whom I knew well and have used up all my goodwill to get a stellar cast that truly does justice to the characters in the film," Nandita said in a statement to IANS. © Viacom18 Motion Pictures And getting Javed Akhtar was nothing less than a great addition, "I thought it would be quite interesting to have a progressive writer of today defending 'Manto'. You will see him in a new avatar. So not like Javed saab." "Trust me, there is more to life than money! The compensation comes in the form of experience and the joy of working on interesting projects. I, too, have done many such projects and have never looked for 'monetary compensation'," added Nandita. © Twitter When we hear such stories, we wish there were more actors like these who could understand the prominence and gravity of cinema. We aren't saying commercial success doesn't matter, but from time to time actors can surely give content more importance than money. Wouldn't you agree?
  22. Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj who is known for his movies, scripts and music has once again left us in awe of his filmmaking skills with the trailer of his latest film 'Pataakha'. The intense portrayal of sibling rivalry is gritty, complex and hilarious in 'Pataakha'. It is compared to the violent and turbulent relationship of that of India and Pakistan, and honestly, he's not exaggerating! With every movie, Bhardwaj brings out a story that is different from our mainstream cinema. He is not just a brilliant director but someone who understands the essence of what a movie has to be about and how a story needs to be presented on the big screen. © Twitter Earlier there were reports that the director had a great script in mind and was in talks with Priyanka Chopra for the same. Finally, the deal is sealed, and the movie is all set to go on the floors next year. Just like most of his movies, this one is said to be an adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic play 'Twelfth Night'. © Twitter When asked about it, Vishal said, “Priyanka also wants to work with me. And we are working with each other. Hopefully, we will start the film next year.” © Twitter Priyanka and Vishal have already collaborated earlier on '7 Khoon Maaf' and 'Kaminey', and we got to admit that they work amazingly together. This news has got us excited and we can't wait for this duo to create something extraordinary once again.
  23. Rakhi is just around the corner and the entire city seems to be abuzz with excitement. Every other household is busy prepping for the celebrations that are all set to unfold on the morning of 26th August. © Pixabay What's more, none of the stores have held back from putting up those flashy hoardings and posters to remind you that you gotta empty your pockets for the upcoming event, lest you might forget, right? As if, that's even an option we're left with, in 2018. But things weren't this way growing up, were they? Rakhi was an affirmation of the bond we shared as siblings and reconciliations after those painful fights. It was about turning a fresh page and starting over. © Pixabay It was also about letting go of the grudges and revenge plots we'd cooked up in our heads for the other, even if it was just for that day. Because some things between siblings never change, right? The hefty gifts and the rest of the trimmings we see today came in much later. So, what we're asking is, what changed? During the good ol' days of our childhood the ritual of tying a thread or rakhi around the brother's wrist symbolised a promise and no, it wasn't just limited to protecting your sister (trust me she's done with seeking a man's protection). It meant a lot more. It still means a lot more. © Pixabay Rakhi is as much about the unspoken vow that you make to stay by her side when the world turns its back on her, to have her back when she is fighting her battles and not fight it for her! It's about respect, respecting her as an individual with a mind of her own - whether it is by the way of accepting her decisions or even her indecisiveness. To treat her with dignity and love, one that you can apply to every other woman in your life. It is about counting on her to come to your rescue when things are not in your favour and it's also about asking her to share the load with you, whatever it may be. It is about mutual respect and the love you share, as it is about holding your tongue when you're too 'tempted' to catcall at women or have a good laugh at their expense in the company of your male friends because “yeh sab toh chalta hai”. © Pixabay It is about realising that no gifts in this entire world can compensate for all the times you thought of women as lesser beings, treated them as second-class citizens AND used be******d in the same breath. What Raksha Bandhan has come to now, is simply offering your wrist to the sister to tie her 'honour'...oops...rakhi onto it, gorging on the mithais, partaking of the feast in the company of the extended family and forgetting about the rest of the promises as soon as the day ends. © Wikimedia Commons This might not be your story but there's no denying that this is the reality for a lot of men in our country. Being a brother is not a responsibility you're meant to shoulder, it's a relationship you're meant to respect and cherish Yes, a lot of guys exist who will fight the whole world for their sister's happiness and will move heaven and earth to make sure they get to live their dreams. Truly they exist and we must be grateful for them. © Pixabay But what we must come to face is that, regardless of it all we have all come across men who can put the term 'brother' to shame and from what we can guess, most of them must be someone's brother, right? So, this Rakhi, we hope you'd take this aspect (and reality) of brotherhood with a pinch of salt and perhaps consider doing things a little differently, so that the Rakhi celebrations don't just end up being yet another 'family get-together day' on our calendars.
  24. I had to sit for a solid one hour before starting this article, not because I didn't know what to write, but because I just couldn't, for the love of God, figure out how to pull off a solid start. I started writing as soon as I gave up on trying to find an impressive one-liner - something on the lines of a fancy prologue if it were a novel instead of an article (which was my original plan, let me just admit, unabashedly so). I have decided to continue with this frankness because even if I were the best writer on the planet, I couldn't have managed to pen down something that would impress you enough to not close the window or press back - simply because of the sheer complexity of the topic we're discussing here. Before we start off, I want to put it out there that I'm not here to preach, nor do I claim to have figured out anything substantial about 'love' in general. What I do intend to do, however, is talk about some extremely touchy and controversial topics related to relationships, and 'love' in general, that no one seems to want to talk about openly. These are things that are extremely personal, and honestly, I don't blame people who aren't quite comfortable discussing them. Twitter Before we go further, a little disclaimer: I am a gay man, and the relationship I am going to put under the spotlight here, is my own, with another gay man. Does this fact change things, and make it a relationship that is completely different from a quintessential heterosexual relationship? No. (And yes too, perhaps, a little bit.) To keep it concise, I have decided to divide the discussion into 7 parts - 7 topics that together weave the fabric of any relationship under the sun, and the truths associated with them, as I have perceived in my own relationship. 1. Conflict Is Healthy We fight. We fight like cats and dogs at times. But hey, what couple doesn't fight? Even when two people share the same womb and grow up with the same socio-cultural, economic, and cultural background (I mean twins), they have different thought processes, different ideologies, and an altogether different way of processing things. How can you expect to just find a person one fine day, who processes information in exactly the same way that you do, hoping for that to be the basis of your relationship? It can only happen under one circumstance - when one of you are, for the lack of a better word, 'sucking it up' to avoid conflict. But this 'peace' is superficial, until one fine day the bubble finally bursts - to the absolute shock of your partner. Twitter Also, be scared if there is no conflict - because your partner either doesn't care enough, or lacks a thought process of their own, or is scared of being their true self in front of you - which honestly, is a bigger issue. Conflict is bound to be there, there isn't an alternative. How you deal with conflict decides how long your relationship will last. If both of you have found out a way to resolve issues without causing damage to the base of understanding and mutual respect you have created together, then congratulations, my friend, for you have 'found the one' - a concept which essentially has been hyped up and grossly misrepresented in popular culture. You don't 'find' the one, you nurture your relationship carefully, to a point where your partner becomes 'the one'. 2. Love And Lust Are Different A lot of people are not going to agree with me on this point here, but hear me out anyway? Love, to me, is when you want to be with a person, or wish their well-being, because of who they are. Love is unconditional. When you are in love with someone, you don't care about how they look, or the physical aspect of their being. Lust, on the other hand, is governed by desire. Sometimes, they overlap. In fact, it's just human nature to get them mixed. But at the root of it all, they are distinctly different entities. How, then, do you differentiate between them? It's not easy, but it can be done. In fact, not learning how to differentiate between love and lust gives rise to relationships that are weak, dishonest at their very base, and are extremely vulnerable. A lot of you might have started becoming uneasy by now, and are probably vehemently shaking your heads in protest, preparing your 'Monogamy FTW' signs. But, but, hear me out. Twitter What do you consider as 'cheating'? Does it count only when your partner gets intimate with someone else, physically? Or does it also count when they think of someone else while pleasuring themselves? An uncomfortable question, I know. If you're not okay with either of them, I have a bad news for you, my friend. You already have been cheated on. Do you think your partner has never watched porn after they have been with you? Or fantasized about someone else? They have. Actually, let's hit it closer to home - YOU have. Does it count as cheating? The answer, if you ask me, is a firm 'NO'. But, it counts as cheating if we stick to the standard definition of a monogamous relationship. Twitter Let's look at it objectively. You were feeling horny and you watched porn. Does it mean you cheated on your partner? Let's predict the standard response - 99% of you feel you haven't. Think about why you feel that way. Because there was no real physical contact. But you thought about it, right? You thought about it hard enough to erupt. Does it still not count as cheating? If your answer is still 'No', I agree with you. You didn't cheat. I will also tell you why. You didn't cheat on your partner because at that moment, your body wasn't being governed by your heart or your mind. The following excerpt from Psychology Today can help you understand it better: "Love and sexual desire activate different areas of the striatum. The area activated by sexual desire is usually activated by things that are inherently pleasurable, such as *** or food. The area activated by love is involved in the process of conditioning, by which things paired with reward or pleasure are given inherent value. That is, as feelings of sexual desire develop into love, they are processed in a different place in the striatum." In conclusion, you were being ruled by a biological need - just like hunger. Your body needs *** just like it needs food, and you have no control over what attracts you. You don't decide who turns you on. So, based on that, why would you end your relationship with someone only because they couldn't overpower their own body - in other words, had *** with someone else? You don't consider it cheating when you think about it and wish for it to happen, but why do you consider it cheating when you actually do it? Why does the actual action count so much, and the intent doesn't count at all? Dig deep, if that doesn't count as 'double standards', I don't know what does. Twitter Coming to my own relationship, my partner and I have realized it, painstakingly keeping our emotions and biases aside, and have finally refused to give our bodies and our biological needs the right to decide the course of our relationship. Honestly, that is one of the best decisions we have ever taken. 3. Privacy Isn't Overrated I come from a quintessential Indian household. I also come from a village. Until I grew up and started living away from my family, I honestly failed to even grasp the concept of 'privacy'. The fact that a person needs space, and ideally should be in complete charge of what part of their personal life they want to share, and with whom, was an alien concept to me - till I finally understood it. What baffles me is that people refuse to understand it. Especially, if you're in a relationship (or worse, married), privacy seems to be some sort of an unjust favour you're asking of your significant other - the sort of favour you should be embarrassed to even bring up in a discussion. Twitter This is how the usual retort sounds: "You must be doing something wrong if you have to hide it." The result? Snooping through their messages and call logs and a lot of unpleasantness. My friend, please snap out of it. If that is the level of trust you have on your SO, please break up. Privacy is healthy, and there should be mutually agreed upon levels of boundary, that you both should abide by - no questions asked. Till you both get familiar with that level of unconditional faithfulness, your relationship will suffer. 4. Social Media Is A B*Tch You're in a happy, fulfilling relationship. Naturally, you have this uncontrollable urge to share this information with the entire world. One advice: Don't. The world is a nice place, but at times it can be a version of hell gone rogue. Anyone who's had a fight based on social media comments will agree. We all like to believe that we are grown up, mature individuals, but hey, sometimes we aren't that grown up after all, and something as harmless as one 'like' by a person with whom your SO had a history can be enough to push you over the edge on a bad day. Twitter Why create situations you can't deal with? If you're absolutely sure about the fact that the virtual domain can't rob your peace of mind, go ahead and post that selfie. But if you're not equipped to deal with your ex's likes or family members' jibes, please filter what you post. I learnt it the hard way, and so did my partner. 5. Misunderstandings Don't End Relationships, Hubris Does Just like conflicts, misunderstandings are bound to occur. We haven't yet perfected telepathic communication, and there is no way you'll always be able to articulate/communicate flawlessly with your partner. Miscommunication is only human. How to deal with that, though? The only perfect answer to that is - communicate. You know why breakups happen? Not because of the miscommunication that occurred, but because nothing was done to fix that. What is stopping you from fixing it? Hubris. An actual representation of your train of thought when you're being governed by hubris: "Why should I always initiate the conversation? Why should I always be the one to fix it? Why can't he/she do it for once? If he/she doesn't care, I don't, either. This time, I'll not budge. We both yelled but he yelled first. She started it. He always does it. It wasn't my fault". Sounds familiar, right? Twitter Get over it. Is your childish sense of fulfilment more important than the love of your life? Be the bigger person. Sort it out. Talk. Don't sulk. A little tip: Nothing is more attractive than maturity. Another sneaky personal tip: Once you initiate the conversation, it's ten times easier to get the ball on your court. My partner is one of the most sensitive people I know, and according to him, I'm one of the most insensitive people he knows. I often end up making him upset involuntarily, and I definitely don't do it willingly. But the good thing is, I don't let my 'stubborn male ego' govern me, and always make it a point to go ahead and start a conversation during a conflict. All it takes is that one step. Two minutes is what it takes for us to patch up, 90% of the time. 6. Your Partner Is Not Your Possession, And They Have Their Own Life Yes, you both are madly in love, and nothing makes you happier than spending time with each other. But, that doesn't mean that they can't have a life of their own which you're not a part of. It's another human being we're talking about, who has interests, friends, social circles, colleagues, family, and acquaintances of their own - and you don't have to essentially like, or even approve of all of them. In fact, it's healthy to spend some time without each other. Twitter I speak from experience. There was once a time when we both had taken a sabbatical from our respective jobs. We used to stay home, not socialise, and all we saw, all day, for an extremely extended period of time - was just each other. We had the most number of fights, all pointless ones, during that period. Moral of the story: Allow your partner some alone time and space, and more importantly, allow that to yourself, if you want to be in a fulfilling relationship. 7. Don't Let Others Decide What Is Right And Wrong In Your Relationship This might be a little confusing, but extremely important. Every relationship is unique, and every relationship has a different take on what is right or wrong, what is permissible and what is not, and matters of morality in general. Twitter Don't compare your relationship to another relationship - be it your parents, friends, or someone else you know. No one can decide whether your relationship is 'ideal' or not - and you shouldn't allow them to. Only you and your partner are in a position to decide things for yourself, and that's iron-clad, unless you guys mutually decide to let someone else interfere and sort it out for you during a conflict. Before you go crying to your friends at the drop of a hat, always try to sort it out between yourselves. One of the primary reasons why we're still together, is this. My friends and acquaintances think that my partner and I are in the perfect relationship and that we have been extremely lucky to have found each other. While I couldn't be more grateful, I don't agree with that. Ours isn't the perfect relationship. We have our own issues. We fight. We disagree. We have major misunderstandings. The fact that we are still together, is a direct result of our efforts to make it work - voluntarily, consistently, day in and day out. It is not easy for two individuals to co-exist together in this day and age anyway, let alone two fiercely independent men in the socio-cultural and political (not to mention legal) climate of the country that India is. The reason we didn't give in to the challenges around is simple - we love each other and want to spend the rest of our lives together. Twitter You know what's easy? Walking away. Anyone can do that. But to stick it out- weighing your priorities every day for the rest of your life while not giving in to distractions and hardships, and turning around even if you did give in to that temporarily - is how relationships work. Having said that, it is essential to walk away too, sometimes. This is not my first relationship, and I have walked out of relationships before, and I am glad I did. Sometimes, walking away is your only option, and you owe it to yourself. Perhaps we can talk about that next, in another article?
  25. This is probably the weirdest smartphone leak we've come across in 2018 and what you're about to hear is probably going to be baffling. The phone in question is probably Tesla's new offering or more like accessories for the phone. Tesla at the moment has been facing numerous issues and they range from Elon Musk ranting on Twitter to a falling stock price because of low sales. We're not even sure why Tesla is about to make a smartphone; however, knowing how Elon Musk functions, it's quite possible someone challenged him. © SlashLeaks The above image was posted on SlashLeaks and to be honest we don't know even know what to expect from the electric car manufacturer. The source has not been mentioned nor any explanations offered for what is pictured above. The above picture basically shows accessories for a smartphone with Tesla's logo on it. What appears to be the front panel of the smartphone is actually a screen protector for a phone that basically screams “I'm an iPhone X clone". It has a notch and narrow bezels just like the iPhone X. The other object in the picture may be a case with an opening on the top left for a dual camera module. The Tesla logo is prominent and in the middle to basically act as an identifier for the brand of the smartphone — you know to distinguish itself from other iPhone X clones. © SlashLeaks The name of the smartphone has also been disclosed and according to sources it is to be called the Tesla Quadra. We're not entirely sure that Tesla even knows how to make a smartphone but we must applaud the company's effort to enter one of the most competitive industries in the world. © Reuters These can also be accessories for an existing smartphone; however, it is highly unlikely as we aren't aware of any smartphone that would fit the screen protector or the case. If Tesla is making its own smartphones, what would be the company's strategy to sell the smartphone? What would be unique about the smartphone that would make people buy a Tesla-branded smartphone? It is also quite possible that this may just be a fake because — China makes anything and everything. It is also quite possible that Tesla may have partnered with an existing smartphone company like Porsche Design partners with Huawei and Lamborghini with OPPO. Whatever it may be, time will tell.
