  1. Kangana Ranaut on marriage: 'I don't have the energy to invest in another family'Kangana Ranaut after earlier hinting that she wishes to get hitched, has now expressed that marriage is not in the pipeline for her at this point. Upon being asked about her marriage plans, during the promotions of her film the 33-year-old actor told Mumbai Mirror how she feels about it at this stage of her life. “I’m at a phase when I’m just beginning to enjoy my life. If someone can add to it, I’m fine, but if, as a woman, I am expected to ensure he’s emotionally stable, enhance his spiritual growth, be lucky and bring him financial windfalls and take on the responsibility of a home, children and family, then, I’m not up for that,” she said. “At the moment, I have no time for people who come with any kind of baggage,” she added. Kangana also shared that a thriving career and her family are all that she has ever set her heart on. She also said that she has recently smoothed out her relationship with her family and is willing to invest her time in only making the ties stronger. She added: “The world is respectful; there’s a lot to do and give. And for the first time, I can think about myself. Let me be a little self-centered and enjoy what I have earned. I don’t have the time and energy to invest in another family. That can come later.” She further added that her career has played a massive role in pacifying the sour connection she had with her family as she left her house to be an actor when she was only 15. “Today, fortunately for me, I’ve got my family back. But I know that somewhere success had a huge role to play in the reconciliation. Had I not made it in films, I might have lost out on both my family and my dream, and that would have been devastating.” The Queen actor is fully engrossed in her promotions for her upcoming film Panga which is all set to hit the silver screens on January 24, 2020.
  2. On December 27, when over 1700 tourists got stranded between the 13th Mile and Nathu La Pass due to heavy snowfall, the Indian Army came to their rescue and took all the stranded tourists to a safe place. But,what happens when a jawan gets stuck in heavy snowfall? He ends up missing his own wedding. Suneel is a soldier who belongs to Himachal Pradesh's Mandi. He was posted in Kashmir Valley. Suneel was going back home to get married, however, after reaching Bandipora, unfortunately he had to miss his own wedding due to heavy snowfall as all routes were blocked and flights were not operational. © Pexels The official Twitter account of Chinar Corps - Indian Army shared his story along with a picture of a news article, and wrote, "#LifeWillWaitThatsAPromise #IndianArmy Jawan misses wedding after #Kashmir Valley gets snowed in. Don't worry life will wait. #NationFirstAlways The bride's family agrees to a new date. Just another day in the life of a soldier." #LifeWillWaitThatsAPromise #IndianArmy Jawan misses wedding after #Kashmir Valley gets snowed in. Just another day in the life of a soldier.@adgpi @NorthernComd_IA @easterncomd pic.twitter.com/G1b1u5bCi6 â Chinar Corps - Indian Army (@ChinarcorpsIA) January 18, 2020 According to news reports, both the families had already started the wedding ceremonies. However, they were left disappointed when he couldn't make it to the wedding. But, on a brighter side, the bride's family understood the situation and have decided on a new date for the wedding. I have probably said it a hundred times, and I am willing to say it a thousand times more - no amount of words will ever be enough to express our gratitude towards our brave jawans, who put their lives on the line to protect us. They brave the toughest of weather conditions and situations to ensure our safety. They often give up on their happiness and personal time with their family, for us. Salute to them! 3. People sitting around wooden fire to keep them warm during chilled weather in city. Photo: APP/M. Saeed Qureshi The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that there would be no rain for Karachi under the influence of a westerly disturbance which has caused widespread rain and snowfall in vast areas of Balochistan, reported The News. The metropolis has been gripped by a new cold wave due to cold and dry northwesterly winds over the last few days. “Karachi missed rain as a westerly disturbance passed Karachi by after causing heavy rains and snowfall in Balochistan, but cold weather has returned to Karachiites,” Chief Meteorological Officer Sardar Sarfraz said while speaking to The News. MET office official said Karachi’s weather, which had returned to normal a few days ago, would become cold again as chilly and dry winds from the northwesterly direction had started blowing again in the city. Read also: Freezing winds grip Karachi as winter cold intensifies Sarfraz added the cold wave was likely to continue for the next four days under the influence of Siberian winds. He added that temperature in the metropolis is likely to drop as low as eight °C on Wednesday night. “The mercury would drop during nights in the city while the daytime temperature would also remain low under the influence of northwesterly or Siberian winds,” Sarfraz said. The first day of the new year saw freezing winds grip the city as temperatures dropped to as low as 11°C. According to MET Office records, the lowest temperature recorded in the city was in January 1934, when the temperature dropped to zero degrees Centigrade. Earlier, the PMD had reported that the metropolis' cold spell was expected to intensify in January 2020. The warning had come after Karachi recorded its lowest temperature — at 9.2°C — in the current winter season on December 24. Prior to the current record, the city had recorded its lowest temperature this year at 9.5°C. Read also: Karachi shivers from coldest day of winter season 2019 as mercury drops to 9°C Record-breaking winterThe current winter season is on track to break records, as mercury in Peshawar dropped to a freezing -1°C after 36 years. Karachi, on the other hand, recorded its lowest (9.2°C), while Skardu reached a freezing -21°C in recent days.
  4. England's Rory Burns walks off after losing his wicket. Photo: Reuters In an age of sport science, expert physical conditioning and meticulous planning, watching Test cricketers clumsily kick a soccer ball around as they warm up defies belief. Not only because they look as if they are going hurt themselves, but because that is often what happens as their child-like enthusiasm for a kick-about clashes with the tenets of professional sport. The latest casualty is Rory Burns, England’s opening batsman who top scored in the first Test against South Africa but who will now return home with a serious ankle injury, missing out on the rest of the four-match series. He hurt ligaments on Thursday trying to kick the ball away as his captain Joe Root bore down on him. It came only 24 hours after Ollie Pope had taken angry exception to a crunching tackle from teammate Matt Parkinson that in a real game of football might have earned the leg spinner a red card. "If you look at what football does, the benefits from a psychological and fun point of view are outstripped by the dangers from it, but we will discuss that. I am not coming in with an iron rod right now," said Ashley Giles — a year ago when he was appointed the new England director of cricket. But England have now added yet another name to a growing list of soccer casualties. Just over a year ago, Jonny Bairstow lost his place as wicketkeeper on a tour of Sri Lanka after damaging ankle ligaments in a kick-about. A decade ago, then England coach Andy Flower banned the warm-up soccer routine after Joe Denly damaged a knee because of an unwieldy tackle before a one-day international match against Australia at The Oval. Like Bairstow, Denly is on tour in South Africa and might have offered some caution, as might have James Anderson, who turned his ankle playing soccer on tour in New Zealand in 2008. Opponents South African can relate. Ace bowler Vernon Philander was out for eight months after he damaged his ankle in a pre-match kick-about in India. But South Africa also still continue to play an awkward version of a rondo, where a few players in the middle of a circle of others try to intercept a soccer ball being passed between the players on the outer ring. Australia’s culture is reflected in their choice of touch rugby rather than soccer to get the blood flowing. But this proved even costlier. In was during such a game that Glenn McGrath stood on a stray cricket ball left on the outfield at Edgbaston and ripped the ligaments in his right ankle, changing the course of the Ashes in 2005.
  5. Days after the lawyers’ attack on the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), a new video has surfaced on micro-blogging website Twitter in which a lawyer can be seen slapping a motorcyclist. In the video a lawyer can be seen stopping a motorcyclist passing between the protesting lawyers and snatching his motorcycle keys. After an exchange of words, the lawyer slapped the man prompting others present there to intervene. After Wednesday’s attack on PIC, videos have been coming out on social media showing the violent acts committed by the lawyers.A group of more than 200 lawyers, following an earlier quarrel with the PIC doctors, stormed the hospital, vandalised property and damaged dozens of vehicles parked in the hospital premises. They had also set ablaze a police van during their assault.Three people had lost their lives amidst the mayhem as doctors abandoned their patients to escape the mob. The police have registered a first information report (FIR) against 200-250 unidentified lawyers on the complaint of an official of the PIC.The case has been registered under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including 322 (qatl-bis-sabab), 452 (trespassing), 353 (assault to deter public servant from performing duty), 354 (assault on woman to outrage her modesty), 148 (rioting with deadly weapon), 395 (dacoity) as well as Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

  7. With a slight tilt of his head, tousled hair and charming dimples that surfaced every time he smiled - the little Shah Rukh Khan admirer within me did a few lazy somersaults every time the man glanced square at the camera and tossed that trademark smirk. (c) Dharma Productions Yet, I can't recall my first SRK movie - you know 'the one' that grants you an initiation into the cult of King Khan admirers. I feel it ought to have been either DDLJ or Kuch Kuch Hota Hai at most. But, my earliest memories from the time would have me believe that it began with a strong liking for Raj, though I eventually ended up falling for Rahul. By the time I moved on from Rahul, I came to understand the true depth of feelings that was his fandom and why it wasn't just him but Shah Rukh - the actor, who was a bigger deal in this country of mad movie lovers. (c) Dharma Productions The man has been synonymous to romance in India. Presenting the picture-perfect version of the “ideal” lover who is a tempting mix of passion, warmth, friendship and possessiveness (at times bordering on obsession). People loved this blend of rugged handsomeness marrying tough romance, and almost got hooked to it. That's how India found it's King of Romance, and Karan Johar found his forever muse in Shah Rukh Khan. (c) Dharma Productions Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Darr, Yes Boss, Pardes, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, Devdas, Kal Ho Na Ho, Veer Zaara, Om Shanti Om, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Chennai Express, Happy New Year are just some of the major hit titles that SRK gave over the last few decades, thus reaffirming year after year that nobody does romance better than this man. (c) Red Chillies But here's the thing. Time moves on, people grow and change to meet the demands of this transient life, but then why is it that we make the people we love so insecure about adopting change? Why is it that while we all preach “change is the only constant”, we fail to appreciate it when our “heroes” attempt to walk the talk? That's perhaps what's eating at SRK's tremendous calibre as an artist right at this moment. The inability of his “fans” to welcome and accept him as anything that's remotely disconnected to romance. (c) Red Chillies Even though that's probably the only saving grace SRK needs right now. A change of pace, a change of narrative, and hell, perhaps even a change of heart to push through this clutter that decides the worth on an actor solely on the basis of Twitter reviews and box office collections. Are you feeling attacked? Why else are you putting up those defences then? (c) Yash Raj Films Where were you when Shah Rukh tried to present the other side of the story in Dil Se? When he tried his hands at a period drama with Asoka? Where was your camaraderie when he played a street gang leader in Josh? What happened to your righteousness when you let a story like Swades go unnoticed? What were your concerns with Fan and even Zero for that matter? (c) Red Chillies Why weren't these films good enough for you to appreciate even the art of an artist? Weren't the roles challenging enough for you, or would you say they were too experimental? Whether he played a nemesis or a dwarf, a king or a journalist, your limited scope of acceptance slowly and thoroughly stripped SRK of the joy and excitement to bring something new to the table. (c) Madras Talkies And that's where my complaint against him lies. Dear King Khan, there is a world beyond the romantic hero that lays unexplored for you. The times of the 'lover boy' is long gone, so perhaps it's time we said our goodbyes to the Raj(s) and Rahul(s) and made way for more Mohan(s), Kabir(s) and Jug(s) instead. (c) Dharma Productions We need more of Mohan's calm aggression, we crave for Kabir's junoon and the easy companionship that came with Dr Jehangir 'Jug' Khan, where the characters shouldered the narratives, and not the other way round. (c) Yash Raj Films There are people who are watching, who still come to witness that star who made romance come to life onscreen, and not so much the romance that made you a star. They come for the artist who excelled in his craft, the actor whose performance made a film, and a performer whose only joy came from performing, and not from the critics or the 300-Cr club memberships. Here's hoping to see more of you SRK, better of you. Love, A forever admirer. View the full article

  10. What happens when you take meat-loving, fruit and vegetable-hating, fallacy-advocating men and design a diet for them? The Carnivore Diet is born. The introduction in itself would come across as a strong one, and you would agree with it once you know more about this new emerging diet that has been doing the rounds of social media galore recently. © Getty Images Popularized by Shawn Barker, a mid-50s strong and ripped world indoor rowing record-holder and an ex-MD, the carnivore diet is a dietary pattern that promotes only eating animal products. Mainly meat for all your meals. And it strongly advocates against eating any fruits and vegetables. It's not known if this was started as a strong contention to the vegan diet or an extreme extension of the ketogenic diet, but it sure as hell makes some questionable claims and promises that would fall flat in the face of science and logic. Here are some of the claims propagated by the Carnivore Diet: 1. Fruits & Vegetables Are Actually BAD For You © Getty Images Yes, you read this right. The carnivore diet goes ahead and makes claims on the lines of fruit and vegetable consumption being detrimental for your health. Even a fifth-grader can tell you the benefits of it, namely being fibre intake, nutrient intake, etc., and the carnivore diet makes an absurd claim against the same. 2. You Should ONLY Eat Animal Products © Getty Images Yup, just animal products and consume meat, primarily, for all your meals. Though the ketogenic diet also suggests eating mainly fats and protein, there are still some carbohydrates in your diet like green veggies. The carnivore diet, on the other hand, is virtually ZERO carbohydrates. 3. Calories Do Not Count Another absurd claim by this diet is that calories DO NOT count. As you are technically cutting out an entire food group, rather limiting yourself to just one food group in this diet, stating that it overcomes the law of thermodynamics is absurd. Calorie counting may NOT be necessary when you have such a restrictive dietary pattern but stating they do not matter at all is downright dubious. A sample carnivore diet and food options permissible in it looks like the following: • Food Options: Meat, fish (fattier the better), eggs, dairy (though most do not consume any due to carbs), bone marrow, fatty meat products, salt and pepper. Basically, anything that walks, crawls, flies, swims, or has had parents (barring humans, of course). • Breakfast: Coffee, scrambled eggs and bacon • Lunch: Steak or chicken liver • Snack: Bone broth or cheese • Dinner: Steak or hamburger patty or fatty fish For me, this diet would go down as an extremely misleading fad due to the following reasons: 1. Science Claims Otherwise Saying that fruits and vegetables are harmful is outright misleading. The fallacy is outright stupid in this case. You will hardly ever find any study showing unfavourable effects of fruit and vegetable consumption on human health. A study by Boeing et. al. concluded that regular fruit and veggie consumption has protective effects against coronary heart disease, hypertension, and stroke. 2. It Is Expensive Animal products all day long, all life? A diet has to be economically feasible as well in the long-term. An all-animal diet goes far off the reach for a majority of the population in terms of the cost. © Getty Images 3. Unsustainable Having an exclusive diet is hardly sustainable, be it any kind of a diet. If you think that you can follow an all-animal diet (I still think it is a bad idea) all your life, go ahead. For almost 99% of the population, this may not be the case. 4. It May Be Unhealthy Eating just meat all-day long adding lard and butter on top of it and consuming it day-in and day-out. You may as well put up a big fancy board inviting a host of cardiovascular diseases and health problems. I'd say that the carnivore diet is just a new addition to the host of pre-existing fad diets and I am sure many people would still fall for it. Like I have mentioned multiple times, it is yet another fad that is far from healthy. Author bio: Pratik Thakkar is the co-founder and director of GetSetGo Fitness, an online fitness company. 11. India has been investing a lot of time and money into the country's space programme and India's mission for a manned trip to the moon is clinching closer than ever. In fact, India is three years ahead to send a manned crew to space. In a report by Bloomberg, the second Indian mission to the moon will have a lander, a rover and an orbiter that will be launched sometime between July 9 and July 16. The report goes to point out that all the modules are currently prepping for the mission and the moon landing is scheduled for September 6th. © Space Prime Minister Modi announced a $1.4 billion manned mission to the moon with a deadline of 2022. The Indian Space and Research Organisation or ISRO plans to launch 32 space missions in 2019 alone. © ISRO The second moon mission is being launched with the purpose of seeking and researching a source of waste-free nuclear energy. This new met jig is said to be worth trillions of dollars. India launched its first moon mission in October 2008 and ejected a probe that discovered water molecules on the surface of the moon. The 2008 mission also successfully completed 3,40 orbits. Previously, the ISRO has broken records by launching over 100 satellites in a single launch and specialises in cost-effective space missions. India beat Russia, who had previously held the record for launching 37 satellites in a single launch. Source: Bloomberg
  12. This season of Indian Premier League has never been short of controversies right from the outset. From Ravi Ashwin's 'mankading' controversy to the 'no-ball' controversy in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) versus Mumbai Indians (MI) game, it has seen it all. And now, in the 10th match of the season, fans on social media speculated that Indian Test wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was involved a match-fixing scandal during the contest between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on Saturday. As per reports, Pant was caught on the stump mic, saying “yeh to waise bhi chaukka hai (this is going to go for a four)” in the fourth over when KKR's Robin Uthappa was on strike. On the very next ball, Robbie hit the ball for a four off Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, to get off the mark. The video of the incident went viral on social media with many fans questioning Pant on how he knew the result of the delivery even before the ball was bowled. However, the BCCI has dismissed all claims regarding the comment made by Pant. © AP “No one heard what Rishabh said before that particular sentence. He was apparently telling (Delhi Capitals captain) Shreyas Iyer to increase fielders on off-side to stop an imminent four,” a BCCI official told PTI. The BCCI official added that a young cricketer like Rishabh Pant shouldn't have been maligned in such a way on social media. “Maligning a young cricketer without even knowing the details is so unfortunate. A section of media allowed the social media to insinuate and vilify a young talent without getting into details. This is so disgusting,” the official added. Eventually, DC went on to win the match in the Super Over after finishing on 185/6 while chasing 186 for victory. Are social media trials getting too harsh? Let us know in the comments section.
  13. If there is one sport which is loved all over the globe despite its brutal tackles and some brilliantly laid out flops, it's definitely football. Football is often compared to the theatre and is fortunate to host to some of the best practitioners in the business, some of whom take their craft a little too seriously. Many players among David Luis, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo believe in showing glimpses of their acting skills on the field, rather than in the studio. Neymar even bagged a cameo in 'XXX: Return of Xander Cage' only by his diving skills on the field. Fouls still get penalised by referees but when it comes to flops, or dives as we call it, we just can't get enough of it. Diving has once again been thrust into the public eye of late, thanks to a string of game-altering moments of alleged simulation. The most recent one came yesterday when one of the greatest players in the world, Ronaldo, earned himself a free kick right outside the penalty box with yet another flop against Napoli. Alex Meret, Napoli keeper, rushed out of the penalty box to clear the Juventus ball, but couldn't touch either of them, the ball or Ronaldo. CR7, on the other hand, took full advantage of the situation and displayed his outstanding acting skills, which not only made the referee award his team a freekick but also handed Meret a red card straight away. Furious with this incident, Carlos Ancelloti, the home manager, opened up in the post-match interview © Reuters “It's a very controversial incident,” Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti said. “Certainly he didn't touch him, but it could be a thing of intent. It's not so clear this direct red, it's not a given that Cristiano would have got to the ball. “The red seems over the top to me. There's the VAR and the referee should have looked at it again why else do we have it?” Eventually, the kick taken by Miralem Pjanic was given a dazzling curl, landing it in the bottom left corner of the goal. Soon the one-goal lead was extended by Emre Can by a header, courtesy a long ball by Federico Bernardeschi. Chiellini and his men soon got the taste of their own medicine when Pjanic was shown a second yellow card for handling the ball. © Reuters The hosts reduced the deficit in the 61st minute as Callejon got ahead of the Juventus defenders to tap in Insigne's cross. Napoli laid siege to the Juventus goal and thought it had got its rewards when they were awarded a penalty for an Alex Sandro handball, but Insigne's effort rebounded off the post. With 16 points clear to the second-placed Napoli, Juventus has almost sealed their league title and now are concentrating on the match against Atletico Madrid for a place in the Quarter-finals of UEFA Champions League
  14. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", they say. The veracity of this statement has been proven long ago, in each of our individual lives, probably even before we knew about it. As children, we used to emulate 'heroes' in our own little capacities - be it their clothing, their catchphrases, or their actions. As adults, we graduated to emulating more, that included hairstyles and beard styles. Any element of the persona of an individual who managed to enamour us, we'd want to emulate. Naturally, when the person in question is a 'national hero' of sorts, the magnetism is inviolable, resulting in nationwide 'style fads'. The latest example? The mighty 'Gunslinger moustache' of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. © ANI Perhaps the only thing that the youth of the nation has been obsessed with, to a degree that almost surpasses that of the admiration for Abhinandan's nerves of steel and his rock-solid composure in the face of lethal adversity, is his Gunslinger moustache. Young men throughout the country are thronging to salons, in a quest to embrace that one element of his larger than life persona, perhaps because it is the easiest and the quickest one to emulate. However, there is more to it than it just being another 'moustache fad'. Here are 3 reasons why: 1. People seek inspiration, even when they don't consciously search for it. We all want a hero in our lives - someone we can look up to, someone who can lead us. Our not-so-latent hubris might prevent us from owning up to the fact, but our actions do testify. When Abhinandan was captured, the outpouring of sentiments throughout the nation was perhaps the most non-manufactured, genuine display of emotions we have witnessed in a very long time. Under such a scenario, young, impressionable minds will naturally want to be a part of that narrative, in their own, personal way, that's conspicuous in its own right. The moustache probably was the easiest route to that. © ANI 2. The Wing Commander has returned home, safe and sound, albeit a little shaken. However, the calamitous situation of his capture brought out that rare, all-encompassing surge of patriotism - one that took over the youth. How do you pay homage to the bravery of a soldier who stared death in the face and emerged victorious, while maintaining a dignified composure, and in extension, upheld the pride of an entire nation? The best way is to inculcate a part of that bravery within yourself. Perhaps, an apt symbolic representation, or rather, the first step to a grander scheme of metamorphosis, is etching his moustache on your very face and your identity, irrespective how trivial it might come across? © ANI 3. It's been a while since we, as a nation, have wallowed in the raw machismo that our Armed Forces are all about. The fact that they are the reason why the nation gets to sleep in peace during trying times such as this, is often taken for granted, and Wing Commander Abhinandan just reminded us of the reality once again. The man flew, with literally his life as a bargain, to a territory that spells death. Along with his uniform, he sported a moustache, a Gunslinger moustache at that - perhaps the greatest symbol of strength and machismo in popular narrative. If this doesn't strike a chord with the youth of the country, nothing else will. Fad or no fad, the country got an icon to emulate - a 'real-life hero' it was subconsciously searching for the longest time. No wonder, his moustache became the symbol of badassery. © MensXP The Abhinandan Gunslinger moustache is much more than a fad, because whether it is 'cool' or will 'remain in trend' is not even the topic of conversation here. The topic here is much bigger - one about inspiration, about respect, and more importantly, about finding a hero.
  15. Yes, the Indian cricket team lost the two-match T20I series against the visiting Aussies and yes, it is for the first time in 40 months that the Men in Blue have lost a series on their own soil. It's just one of those things you can't and mustn't complain about. This is where the sportsman spirit steps in: to be equally content in wins and losses. Major props to Glenn Maxwell who delivered under extreme pressure to seal the deal for the Australia cricket team and also made a case for himself before the selections of the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 as he scored an unbelievable 119 off just 55 deliveries. But we are here to talk about 'Thala' himself! Mahendra Singh Dhoni, at 37 years of age continues to show the batting and fitness abilities of a 25-year-old athlete. Flexible Dhoni â¤ð¥ 2.14m ðpic.twitter.com/fTnSwULGTP — Ponraj (@goking2000) February 28, 2019 In the 11th over of Team India's innings, Dhoni went of out the crease to try and hit a big one but Adam Zampa's delivery went on to be wide, completely out of the Indian batsman's range. His wicket-keeping instincts quickly took over as he extended his right leg for an astonishing 2.14 metres to get inside the line to avoid being stumped by Australian keeper Peter Handscomb. The third umpire gave a decision in favour of the batsman as the replay showed that Dhoni was too quick and well inside the crease for Handscomb to knock the bails off. Mahi had shown off his flexibility once before as well in a match against New Zealand in November 2017. 16. Samsung and Huawei kicked-off MWC 2019 with their foldable phones and we're still trying to wrap our heads around the groundbreaking technology. Social media and forums are filled with optimists as well as pessimists, and this has become the hottest topic for enthusiasts right now. Companies are ready to mass produce bendable displays, but one question still remains. How are we going to use these foldable phones in real life? How will the software compliment the hardware? It's going to take time to slowly understand different use case scenarios, and develop a finished product. © Nubia But, Nubia is taking this a level further with the launch of Nubia Alpha (styled as α). It's a combination of a watch and a phone, sporting a foldable display and the brand calls this a "wearable phone with a flexible display". To be honest, it's a fancy watch that offers more slightly more features than your regular wearable, but do we really need it right now? It sports a 4-inch 960x192 OLED screen that roughly covers half your wrist. Even though the brand claims it to be a phone, the specs say a different story. It comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, and 500mAh battery. There's also a front-facing 5-megapixel camera. Nubia suggests the device will last 1-2 days of regular use, or a week on standby. © Nubia Just like the Apple Watch, it has a built-in eSIM which you can use for calls, texts, and all that other stuff SIM cards can do. It is water resistant, has activity and sleep-tracking along with a heart-rate sensor. Well, you can see movies on the watch if you don't mind standing with your arm lifted at the right angle all the time. And, the OS is custom built. Meaning, don't expect kick-ass app support anytime soon. The OS gets voice controls, air gestures, and other intuitive controls, but we're yet to see how smooth they really are. © Nubia On paper, the watch sounds exciting but lacks any practical usage. Yes, it is technically a "phone", but then the same can be said about the Apple Watch LTE as well. The watch costs a whopping €549 (Rs 44,000) in Europe and expected to ship from the third quarter of this year. Brands need to stop blindly following trends and think about delivering a usable product. You may manage to house a foldable display, but will it offer anything substantially better to the user in day-to-day life?
  17. It's 1955. The Cold War is in full swing. Thriller writers are having the time of their life. As for the rest of us, the threat of nuclear armageddon hangs over us, like, well, a mushroom cloud. In the middle of all this, the USAF's B-52 Stratofortresses keep making sorties, flying out of bases in the UK, going up to the Soviet Union's border. Just in case… via GIPHY Fast forward to 2018. The world's changed unimaginably. The President of the United States argues with people on something we call 'Twitter'. But the B-52 is still soldiering on, flying missions in the South China Sea, reminding the PRC that the United States is still around, even if it's bogged down with fights over silly walls and whether the President had an affair! The Mean Machine - Boeing's B-52 Stratofortress The Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is a legendary war machine - it's been around for longer than most of us, and thanks to constant upgrades, it's still on the frontlines. © Tech. Sgt. Nathan Lipscomb for US DoD The Balkans, the Gulf War(s), Afghanistan. It's been there, bringing a reign of destruction on people Uncle Sam doesn't like. And it's gonna be around for many years to come... The B-52 project started in 1946 - just after the Second World War ended. The Cold War was starting, and the US wanted something to maintain its dominance. Designed to carry massive nuclear (and thermonuclear) weapons, the B-52 first took to the air in 1952, entering service in 1955. The B-52 Was A Harbinger Of Doom Even though the B-52 was later used with conventional weapons - it was responsible for carrying out several 'carpet bombing' missions in the Vietnam war - it was really meant for World War Three - carrying hydrogen bombs to attack the Soviet Union if the 'balloon ever went up'. via GIPHY One of the bombs the B-52 carried was the B61- which had a yield of nearly half a megaton. Another was the Mark 39 - which, hang on to your hats, had a yield of nearly 4 megatons! For reference, the bomb that levelled Hiroshima was just 20 kilotons. Always Ready As part of Operation Chrome Dome, B-52 bombers were kept constantly airborne - the reasoning being that even if the Soviet Union managed to 'take out' the US's ICBMs on their launchpads with a first strike, the B-52s (and the US Navy's missile submarines) would be around for retaliation. Even better, they could dissuade the Soviet Union from even trying to start a nuclear war. © Senior Airman Malcolm Mayfield for US DoD All That Flying With Nukes Was Risky Did you know that we nearly faced nuclear armageddon in 1961? The US and Soviet Union weren't about to attack each other (though they came close on several occasions in the sixties). What happened was that a B-52 carrying two Mark 39 bombs broke up in mid-air, and the crew eventually bailed out. As it turns out, the two bombs fell out of the aircraft, and one of them got activated - with only one final switch preventing it from going off! The B-52 Even Shot Down A Fighter Jet! You wouldn't imagine a big, lumbering bomber to be able to shoot down one of the most legendary fighter jets ever, but that's exactly what happened in Vietnam back in 1972 - the tail gunner in a B-52 managed to shoot down the newest, deadliest jet fighter of the time - the MiG-21. A one-off? Heck, no! Another crew in another B-52 repeated this feat some days later! Pretty impressive, isn't it? © Staff Sgt. Michael Battles for US DoD This Massive Bomber Might Be In Service For Another 50 Years The B-52, like every other piece of military equipment, has been getting upgrades throughout its life - the last major version first flew in 1961, with production stopping a year later. Of course, it's been given a lot of nips and tucks over the years, with fancy new electronics being retrofitted. © Senior Airman Jonathan McElderry for US DoD That means that even the youngest B-52 is well over 50 years old - but what's even more surprising is that the USAF might keep on flying these aircraft for another half-century. That's right, the B-1 Lancer (a gorgeous machine for sure), the F-117 stealth fighter, and the B-2 stealth bomber came much later, but nothing has managed to replace the B-52! © NASA There's a new upgrade programme on its way, with new engines, and new avionics, and who knows, the next generation might grow up marvelling at this 'Big Ugly Fat F@#er' (the nickname given to it by US troops in Vietnam) which has managed to outlast every other machine!
  18. Yesterday, India was hit by one of the worst terrorist attacks with over 40 brave Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans losing their lives in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. The attack that happened by Jaish terrorists targeted a convoy with a car bomb. The country is mourning the loss of all the martyred jawans and is praying for the speedy recovery of those injured. 20. Ever since his triumphant return to international cricket after a severe lower-back injury and a suspension levied by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), Hardik Pandya has been responding to his haters in the best way possible, i.e; by performing at an exceptional level with the bat and the ball. As a crucial member of the Indian batting order, Pandya, who has been known for his explosive big hits and mounting up big individual totals in very short periods of time, just hit a hat-trick of sixes against New Zealand's Todd Astle in the fifth and final ODI of the series. Pandya achieved this feat for the fifth time in his career. On the other hand, taking at least one wicket in almost every match he has played ever since his comeback against the Kiwis in the third ODI, Pandya has been one of India's ace bowlers through the last couple of weeks. However, the New Zealand team that lost to the Men in Blue 1-4 in the ODI series, looks completely different as the other series in the T20I format began today. Skipper Kane Williamson 's decision to replace opener Martin Guptill with Tim Seifert turned out to be a hit as the righty thrashed the Indian bowling side left, right and centre. The rest of the Kiwi batters followed suit and dominated bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed. Having said that, the bowler who got absolutely dismantled by Seifert and Co. was Indian allrounder, Hardik Pandya. With an absolutely horrible economy rate of 12.75, Pandya turned out to be the most expensive bowler for skipper Rohit Sharma, conceding 51 runs in just 4 overs! Pandya's half a ton with the ball is the worst performance by any Indian bowler against the Kiwis. whenever nz batsmen see hardik pandya#INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/vVz8PrmYux — 㤠㤠㤠㤠㤠㤠㤠ã¤ã¤ 㤠㤠㤠(@firkiii) February 6, 2019 * Hardik Pandya in First T/20 against NZ * #INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/82U9IwMzKX — Hunà¤à¤°à¤° â (@nickhunterr) February 6, 2019 Brilliant innings from Hardik Pandya ( 50 runs) and Khaleel(48) 2 short of 50 hard luck . #NZvIND — #FAN (@Sarcastic__Raj) February 6, 2019 Glad to see Hardik Pandya scored 50.. #INDVSNZ #NZvIND #INDvNZ — Silly me (@Sathish03577169) February 6, 2019

Be it their fancy love affairs, or extravagant weddings, their public display of affection or their anniversary special wishes, celebs know exactly how to show off their love for one another, without a single iota of doubt. (c)Twitter We love reading about celebrity couples old and new and while we stumble upon some really adorable things that stay with us, we also take back some tips and tricks that can be applied in our own way. So, it's not just movies where we see them flashing their love, it's also though their Instagram handles and Twitter accounts and we came across the sweetest wish recently from a couple we've always been rooting for, and they're a great example of love, in today's day and age. (c)Instagram Genelia D'souza and Riteish Deshmukh are celebrating their 7th wedding anniversary on the 3rd of February. To honour the most important day of her life, Genelia shared a throwback picture of both Riteish and her from their wedding day, 7 years ago, with a heartfelt note. The essence of her beautiful thought was just so simple, it made me a bit teary eyed, upon reading it. She narrated how she never had a sense of the kind of man she would marry, but the man she ended up with was her 'bestest friend' who always stood by her through thick and thin. Here, check out Genelia's wish for Riteish: Every girl has a certain perception of how they would want their life partner to be... I Honestly Didn't.. I had this most amazing partner who was my bestest friend, who was the shoulder, I always found when I needed to cry and who made me believe that no matter how tough life is, with us being partners we would take it on,in any form, in any way... That's the man I eventually married and he never ever stopped being the reason for my smile... So I'm glad I never ever had a perception because the reality of living and breathing this wonderful man is all I ever needed to know.. I Love you @riteishd ..Here's to many more laughs together, to the zillion times we will wipe each other's tears and pick each other up when either/or feels weak or simply to life together forever and ever... We're really gushing over here! God gives each of us a chance to find true love, but it's up to us to identify it. God graces each of us with an opportunity to be in love but it's upto us to preserve it. God blesses each of us to be loved but it's upto us to make sure we deserve it. @geneliad You are god's grace & blessing in my life... Thank You for saying 'Yes' to me 7 years ago - Happy 7th Anniversary Baiko A post shared by Riteish Deshmukh (@riteishd) on Feb 3, 2019 at 1:47am PST Isn't this wish mighty endearing? I mean, the best love to count on there is the love that comes from someone you can absolutely trust and lean on and if he or she is your best friend then there is certainly nothing like it. That was exactly the case with the two love-birds who got married back in 2012 and now they have beautifully nestled in to each other's life and are a constant inspiration for the millennial couples who're still seeking 'relationship goals'. (c)Instagram So, if you're contemplating a mate for life and think there is someone you share your ups and downs with and someone who understands you, maybe give them a thought and see what that's like. For all you know you might find the love of your life in them, just like how Genelia found hers in Riteish.
  22. 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is one of Farhan Akhtar's best-remembered pieces of acting. However, his later performances have not only just received a mild reception but have also failed to leave a mark on the audience's mind. Be it as a lead actor in 'Lucknow Central' or as a supporting actor in 'Dil Dhadakne Do', Farhan didn't quite succeed in winning over his audience with his performance, which was the complete opposite to the phenomenal response to the biopic under Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's direction. © ROMP Pictures While fans have been waiting for Farhan Akhtar to reclaim the silver screen one more time with his acting potential, there's a piece of good news regarding the same that awaits them. After an earlier announcement stating the release of Farhan's first official Bollywood movie 'The Fakir Of Venice' this Friday on 18th January, the 'Rock On!!' star has now made another happy announcement about his upcoming acting project, which will be helmed by none other than Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra! Back in the day, with zero videos of her bouts online and not even a single news channel covering her progress, if you'd told her that one day, she is going to be ranked number 1 in the whole world by the International Boxing Federation (AIBA), she would have knocked you out cold with an uppercut for mocking her. #WWCHs2018 Finals - Light Fly (48kg)@MangteC (IND) defeats Mi Hyang Kim (PRK) and becomes 2018 AIBA World Champion!! Despite her soon-to-be coach Leishangthem Ibomcha Singh, who was responsible for bringing up around 50 international medal winners from within the state of Manipur, constantly challenging her, and her aspirations of becoming a pugilist, Mary, like any stubborn teenager, stuck to what she wanted. Living in an insurgency-bound Imphal, Mary's journey to success was full of constant terror and adversities. With endless reports of kidnappings, shootings and bombings ever since Manipur's merging with India, the idea of 'do whatever your heart says' wasn't exactly a number one priority for the people living there. In fact, the situation was so bad up there, that even Mary Kom's own father-in-law was murdered by the insurgents soon after she got married to Onler Kom in 2005. While there's no denying Mary Kom's hard work and raw passion for the sport that has taken her this far in life, it is Onler Kom, Mary's husband who has been her anchor during the experience. Full of compassion and regard for her wife, Onler has never backed out of supporting her dreams. “I knew her dreams and was ready to help her in every way," Onler told The Times of India. “I had my own dreams, but when I came to know her it changed… I married her for her simplicity and her willingness to become a successful sportswoman.” View this post on Instagram “A man's success is measured by what his wife and children say about him. It was able to detect atrial fibrillation with the new feature and saved a man's life in Nashua, New Hampshire. Barry Maden originally bought the Apple Watch to “keep a closer eye on his health after suffering a brain injury.” He bought the Apple Watch for it's Fall Detection feature. “He originally got it because they have a new fall risk app where, if he were to fall and I'm not nearby, the fall sensor will sense that he fell and call 911,” said his wife, Tara Maden. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla He originally thought he was suffering from anxiety due to travelling for the holidays. However, his Apple Watch alerted him that his heart appeared to be in A-fib. It isn't clear if Maden used the ECG app right away to detect the A-fib. However, it was enough for him to double check if he was suffering from something serious. He soon thereafter took himself to the emergency room. © Apple At the hospital, doctors performed their own tests using a more advanced ECG device to verify the Apple Watch's discovery.
