ISLAMABAD: Senior PML-N leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has raised reservations over the appointment of Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob Khan Nasir as the PML-N?s interim president and questioned the reason for calling a meeting if the decision was already taken in Lahore, informed sources.

The former interior minister also asked why Nasir's name was announced before the meeting of the PML-N's central working committee.

Sources also informed that Nisar said the interim president was chosen before the meeting and asked if the working committee meeting was called to just confirm Nasir's name.

Earlier, Nasir was appointed interim president of PML-N after a meeting of the party's central working committee, which met in Islamabad on Thursday to give formal approval of his appointment.

According to reports, Nawaz discussed Nasir's interim presidency with the senior party leadership at his residence and is said to have received no serious resistance to the proposal.

Earlier on August 8, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) notified PML-N that with the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif, the party must elect its new president as according to the Political Parties Order (2002), a disqualified person cannot hold the key party position.
