PESHAWAR: Senior academician and famous actor Prof Ziaul Qamar passed away after a protracted ailment Thursday night. 

He had been suffering from cancer for the last year and breathed his last at the intensive care unit of North West Hospital. 

His funeral was planned to be held today before Jumma prayers at his native village of Azakhel Bala.

Prof Qamar was a professor of English at the Edwardes College, Peshawar. 

He was also a famous television actor and remained affiliated with PTV.
