KARACHI: Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on Saturday across the country under tight security with law-enforcers deployed in and around mosques and Eidgahs in large numbers.

Security officials will be deployed in almost all mosques and Eidgahs across the country.

AIG Karachi, in a report submitted to the home minister, mentioned that all security arrangements have been finalised. 

According to the report, about 16,000 police officers will be deployed to perform security duties in Karachi. Six thousand officers will be deployed in East Zone, 6,000 in West Zone, and 3,500 officers in South Zone.

According to the police, 2,485 police officers have been deployed for the security of mosques while 441 will be present outside Eidgahs. Contingents will also be deployed for security of imambargahs, the police added. 

Police officers will also be deployed at 800 hides collection camps and over 220 places offering collective slaughtering of sacrificial animals in the port city. 

"Specific instructions have been issued to police to ensure mobile and motorcycle patrolling besides random snap checking at different areas of the city. Over 400 police mobiles and more than 200 motorcycles would be on patrolling and snap checking duties," the report added.

In Islamabad, about 2,500 officers of police, Pakistan Rangers and FC will perform duties, informed DIG Operations Mirwaiz Niaz.

Niaz told Geo News that special attention is being paid towards the cattle market. ?The areas surrounding the cattle market are being patrolled on a routine basis,? he said.

Security officials have also been deployed at all mosques and imambargahs to avoid an untoward incident, he added.

On the other hand, about 5,000 security officials will be performing duties in Quetta, according to DIG Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema.

Police, Balochistan Constabulary and FC personnel will be performing the duties, the DIG added.

Moreover, police contingents have been deployed at important business centres and markets in Quetta.
