GUJAR KHAN: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) emir Sirajul Haq on Monday stressed on the need for accountability of all those who made assets out of the country.

The statement was made during his address with participants of Ehtisab March in Gujar Khan. The march started off from Data Darbar, Lahore, and is on way to Islamabad.

Haq said, "Nawaz Sharif was disqualified as a result of first attempt against corruption, who left for home via GT Road crying".

He, however, said that Sharif's disqualification as prime minister didn't resolve the issue (of corruption) and that his party seeks accountability of all 436 individuals named in the Panama Papers.

Referring to Gujar Khan as the land of Shuhada and Ghazis,; the JI emir questioned, "Did our martyrs laid sacrifices for the thieves and plunderers to keep looting the country?"

Haq lamented that "our children are indebted, while people do not have basic facilities like safe drinking water in the country".

He said the time has come for corrupt individuals to be dragged in the streets.
