KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered on Tuesday the arrest of SSP East Irfan Baloch for his failure to appear in court in a case pertaining to the alleged illegal construction of a police station.

The SHC was irked at the non-appearance of the concerned SSP and ordered the relevant DIG to arrest and produce the SSP in court.

The SHC is hearing a petition against the construction of the Bahadurabad Police Station on a public amenity plot.

At an earlier hearing on August 24, the court had warned that action will be taken if it were proven that the police station in question had been built on land acquired illegally.

SHC?s Justice Irfan Saadat Khan had said in his remarks that an amenity plot originally reserved for public parks cannot be used for the construction of a police station.
