After Korea Open Win, PV Sindhu Wins Billion Hearts By Dedicating Her Win To PM Modi

One of the postergirls of Indian badminton and arguably a rising force on the international circuit, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu continued to her marauding run and downed Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in the summit clash of the Korea Open Super Series. Thanks to her monumental triumph, Sindhu became the first-ever Indian in history to win the Korea Open title.

After losing the World Championships final to the same opponent, the 22-year-old finally exacted revenge on her Japanese counterpart to eke out a hard-fought 21-19, 21-10 win. It was also the third Super Series title win for the Indian shuttler in her ever-improving career.

From celebrities to fans, Sindhu's win earned her plaudits from every corner of the country. Such was the extent of her dominance on the court, that she even garnered praise from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was also celebrating his 67th birthday on Sunday.

Congratulations to @Pvsindhu1 on emerging victorious in the Korea Open Super Series. India is immensely proud of her accomplishment: PM

If Sindhu's antics on the court got the social media buzzing, her antics off the court also won over Indian fans. With the wishes pouring in in abundance, Sindhu took out some time to reply to Modi's tweet and dedicated her win to the Indian PM.

I dedicate this Victory for our beloved Prime Minister Shri Modiji on his Birthday   for his untiring and self less services to our Country. https://t.co/frsNmZvtkK

In a sweet gesture that only earned her more respect, Sindhu took to Twitter and wrote: "I dedicate this Victory for our beloved Prime Minister Shri Modiji on his Birthday for his untiring and self less services to our Country".

This isn't the first time when Sindhu has praised Modi. Back in 2016, Sindhu had also lauded the Indian Prime Minister for his initiative of appointing a 'Task Force' for the next three Olympics. Conferred Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, an elated Sindhu termed Modi's initiative as "great idea".

"Great day for me to have spoken to PM Modi. An Olympic medal and now Khel Ratna today on national sports day. Great idea, he has also assured us that if we have any ideas or suggestion we can give them. So great initiative," Sindhu had said.

Here's how the Twitterverse reacted to Sindhu's respectable gesture for PM Modi:

Salute you @Pvsindhu1. You are being so brave & humble.More championship titles to you.The nation cheers for you !!

I love you even more now, PV Sindhu!! That 56 stroke rally that you won to go from 18 to 19 was the best badminton I've seen in a long time!
