LAHORE: Disagreement over fuel price between government and oil distributing companies resulted in severe fuel shortage for the residents and commuters of Lahore, Geo News reported.

According to reports, oil distributors hold the view government should raise fuel prices as the current fuel price is putting their businesses in loss, however, at the other end the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Commerce has refused to accept their demand and is adamant to continue with the current price.

A few months back, All Pakistan Oil Tankers Association (APOTA) announced to go on a countrywide strike in protest of the safety rules imposed by OGRA. The association members decided not to supply oil to fuel stations in protest for an indefinite period until their demands were met.

Resulting in a severe crisis as several fuel stations in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Quetta, among other areas, closed shop owing to lack of supply and high demand.

Later, the third day of negotiations between the government and the All Pakistan Oil Tankers Association (APOTA) bore fruit as APOTA finally decided to call off its strike.
