SRINAGAR: Protests continue in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) against braid-chopping by Indian security forces, according to reports on Kashmir Media Service.Β

In what is being described as the latest act of state terrorism, chemicals are being used by agents of Indian secret agencies to make women unconscious and then forcibly cut their braids.

On October 12, students at the Kashmir University marched through the campus and protested against braid-chopping. More than 100 braid-chopping incidents have taken place in the Valley during the past few weeks.

An article published on Al Jazeera states that the first braid-chopping incident was reported on September 6. The article tells the story of a victim who describes being grabbed from behind by masked men and having something sprayed on her face. Another victim also describes being rendered unconscious and having her braid copped off.

Meanwhile, Indian authorities continue to place Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and Zafar Akbar Butt under house arrest.
