RAWALPINDI: Indian forces on Tuesday resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, in martyrdom of two Pakistani civilians.

The fresh violation of the ceasefire agreement by Indian forces was committed in Naukot and Qaisarkot areas of Lipa valley, the ISPR said in a statement.

The cross-border firing resulted in martyrdom of two Pakistani civilians and caused injuries to six others, the statement read.

Pakistan Army responded to the violation in a fitting manner, causing heavy damage to four Indian border posts, it added.

Pakistan has time and again expressed concerns and protested over the ceasefire violations and targeting of its civilians.

Last month, top civilian and military leaders of the country had expressed serious concerns over repeated violations by India of the ceasefire agreement along the LoC.

The meeting of the National Security Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, had also condemned Indian atrocities against the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.

The cross-border firing and shelling by Indian forces along the LoC has resulted in martyrdom of several people, the NSC had noted.
