What were you doing last night? Out with friends? Working late? On a date? Sleeping? For a few, and I do mean a few, Indians, last night was all about football. No, it wasn't the World Cup and no, it didn't involve Manchester United, it involved something that had nothing to do with the most decorated club in English Football. It did involve a former player of theirs, though. Kind of!

If you're still reading this, you probably know that Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League last year. This was their second consecutive title. Who would have thought they would be in danger of falling into the Europa League this time around? ABSOLUTELY NOBODY!

As we're writing this, the scoreline is 3-0 in favour of Tottenham. No, this is not a joke. A young Tottenham Hotspur team is defeating the Champions of Europe at Wembley in the 67th minute. Real Madrid are trying desperately to get back into the game but it hasn't worked for them so far. Before we go any further, let's take a moment and enjoy the graphics the Tottenham Hotspur Twitter account created each time the team scored. You have got to appreciate the fact that there was someone at Tottenham sitting in anticipation of a Spurs goal against Real Madrid at Wembley. Why is that such a big deal? We'll just tell you. But first, the graphics:

— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) November 1, 2017Now, why is this such a significant achievement? Well, first of all, it's Tottenham's first ever victory over the Spanish side. A side that features players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos. A side managed by Zinedine Zidane. If you've got to beat someone, why not beat the best?

The next reason this is huge is because Tottenham was just coming off the back of 2 consecutive losses over the last week. They gave up a 2 goal lead against West Ham in the Football League Cup to lose 2-3 and then they lost 1-0 to Manchester United at Wembley. Let's just say their confidence wasn't sky high.

Third, Spurs have not had the best of runs at Wembley. Even though they have had to make the stadium their home for this season while White Hart Lane is being renovated, it hasn't been the best hunting ground for the club in all competitions.

As we mention this, Ronaldo smashes one into the net via a deflection off Eric Dier. The score is 3-1 with a little more over 10 minutes to go. But, the 'Come On You Spurs' chants are ringing through the stadium and despite Real Madrid giving it their all, it's highly unlikely that they can make a comeback in this match.

The Tottenham team are full of young and bright English stars like Eric Dier, Kieran Trippier and Harry Winks. They also have the goal scoring machine, Harry Kane. But today, the man of the hour was none other than Dele Alli. The 21-year-old English lad is one of the main reasons why Tottenham performed so well. He was fresh off a 3 game ban from European Competitions he picked up last season. There couldn't be a grander stage to make a comeback to the squad could there? There certainly isn't a grander way!

The game ended 3-1. There is so much that this young lad has to offer and English football looks like it has a bright future. If you think Dele Alli deserves a feature of his own, let us know in the comments. We sure think he does. Before we go, here are highlights from the match. What a cracker it was!
