LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday met with former US ambassador to Pakistan Robin Raphel at his office.

According to a statement released after the meeting, the visiting dignitary said that Washington gives immense importance to its special relationship with Pakistan. 

The chief minister said that Pakistan-USA relations are decades-long and Islamabad wants to further expand the bilateral relations on equal basis.

Sharif said that the international community must work on joint interests for the establishment of peace and security. 

He added that Pakistan has made remarkable progress during the tenure of the current government.

He said that Pakistan was able to resolve its challenges, terrorism, and energy crisis are one of the few prominent ones. 

The chief minister also condemned the Texas church shooting and regretted the loss of precious lives.
