ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) summoned on Wednesday the Indian deputy high commissioner to record a protest over yesterday's cross-border attack in Kashmir which resulted in the death of a woman.Β

On Tuesday evening, Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Chirikot sector, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The incident had resulted in the death of an elderly woman as her village had come under attack.Β

The FO's South Asia chief handed over a protest letter to the Indian diplomat and condemned the repeated ceasefire violations by India.Β

Earlier last week, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa had also visited the Chirikot sector along the LoC.

During the visit, Abbasi had condemned the unprofessional approach, of targetting civilians residing in the area, by Indian forces and reiterated that Pakistan would continue to provide political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people for their struggle.
