KARACHI: Firefighters managed to douse the fire after sixteen hours of efforts that erupted on Monday evening at a godown located on Karachi?s Super Highway.

Eight fire trucks were engaged in efforts to extinguish the fire that erupted sixteen hours ago.

According to latest reports, eighty percent of the blaze has been contained.

Firefighters are constantly faced with difficulties to douse the fire due to a persistent water shortage, sources told this correspondent.

According to the owner of the godown, Abdul Malik, the fire department responded two hours after it was informed.

?Water was unavailable when the fire trucks finally reached,? Malik told Geo News.

He further added that a part of the godown was destroyed, resulting in a loss of 70 million rupees.

A two-storey building, the living quarters of employees, was gutted in the incident.
