The year 2017 definitely brought a lot of interesting stories to us through the television medium and before we start, we have to mention it does not include the 24 hour running thriller that the Trump presidency has turned into.
Also, not to mention how Internet made ridiculous things incredibly famous, yet again. Between YouTube and news channels, a lot of unforgettable moments occurred on our old as well as new favorite TV shows. Let's look back at a few, in no particular order of course.
1. The Sick 'Pickle Rick' Episode© Netflix
The 'Pickle Rick' episode from an extremely brilliant animated show; Rick and Morty is claimed to be one of the best episodes of the series. Apart from being extremely entertaining, it was a very well written piece with a lot of indirect pop culture references including the part when Rick says that death by frying in the sun, in the body of a pickle, would be a humiliating fate, which is construed as the most indirect way of pointing at yet another humiliating way of dying which is on the toilet. This is a reference to the infamous rumors of Elvis Presley's death on the toilet.
2. Children Interrupted Their Father's BBC InterviewWhen Prof. Robert Kelly planned to appear on the live news show on BBC, destiny had plans of turning him into an overnight sensation. He was interrupted by every member of his family within 0:44 seconds. The video got over 25 Million views on YouTube and regardless to say, he turned into a meme.
3. Kangana's 'Aap Ki Adalat' InterviewShook! We hate this word as much as you do and definitely do not want to take it to 2018. So let's just use it for one last time and leave it in 2017 because the word was destined to be used for this particular incident. This interview had everyone SHOOK! Our lives will never be the same after the revelations Kangana Ranaut made to interviewer Rajat Sharma.
4. Eleven And Hopper Fight© Netflix
Season 2 of 'Stranger Things' definitely proved to be an absolute exception to the common belief, that shows are usually better in the first season. Eleven is hands down the queen but Hopper is the one who surprised us the most during this season. The show had a lot of great moments but Episode 4 was particularly special as Eleven finally lived the bitchin'( got the reference?) rebel teenager phase of her unusual life and Hopper was oozing with paternal instincts.
5. When Dragons Turned Everything To Ashes On GOT© HBO
Say what you will about season 7 of 'Game Of Thrones', but it was undeniably the most visually epic season. Things got extremely heated when dragons participated in the war against Lannisters in episode 7.
6. India's Crowning Moment© Economic times
Manushi Chhillar made India proud by winning the Miss World 2017 beauty pageant. Her crowning moment went viral on, well, basically every social media platform accessible to Indians. Although we were excited to see more of her, we didn't expect to see the blue jeweled crown so much, if you will. But regardless, she deserves every bit and a lot more.
7. Katherine Langford's suicide in '13 Reasons Why'© Netflix
'13 Reasons Why', yet another thought-provoking series by Netflix was gifted to us this year. Fans of the shows are excited about Season 2 as the filming has wrapped up already. Being a show that talks about such a dark topic, love isn't all it receives. The final episode of the season was possibly the most impactful one hour of television on TV screens ever. So much so that it was blamed to be the reason for many teenagers attempting suicide thereafter.
8. Oscar Mishap 2017© oscars
The Academy was witness to the most cringe worthy mishap in its entire history while announcing “Best Picture 2017” award. It was given to La La Land for 45 seconds and it was later cleared that Moonlight was the actual winner. We just have one suggestion, do not watch it with a weak stomach, you might cringe out your breakfast.
9. Vidya Balan Made Amitabh Bachchan React To His Best KBC MemesSony bought season 9 of India's dearly loved family reality quiz show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' in 2017. This year was a special one since almost every episode gave the Internet some really funny memes. The only thing which could make our lives better was watching Amitabh Bachchan react to those memes and ours truly, Vidya Balan made it happen.
10. Littlefinger Is No More© HBO
Yes, we notice that GOT has already made its appearance on the list but we need to talk about Littlefinger's death. During the entire season we were made to realise how Petyr Baelish was losing his place in 'Game Of Thrones' (obviously the spoilers did not help) but his death felt like the end of an era. It seemed as if he took away the last old thing with him and cleared the path for the rule of a new generation.
