Mumbai's Ghatkopar Now Looks Like A Mirror Image Of Italy's Positano Village & It Is Incredible

Ghatkopar, a suburb in the city of Mumbai has been in the news for a while. The reason is simple and pretty at the same time. A place that was starved of a lot of amenities and didn't give visitors many reasons to visit has suddenly come one the top spots for anyone wanting to try their photography skills. For beginners, the place looked like this earlier.

However, Ghatkopar has undergone a stellar makeover and is now become a mirror image of Italy's gorgeous Positano Village!

The recreation and makeover was undertaken by Dedeepya Reddy who heads a wonderful non profit initiative called 'Chal Rang De'.  The group transforms neighbourhoods into gorgeous sights. 'Chal Rang De' tied up with Snowcem Paints and the Metro for this colourful postcard look of this area. Reddy even got the locals to join hands and make this initiative a big success. In an interview with TOI, she explained the whole process and how she went about it. “I even showed them Photoshopped 'after' renditions of the slum.”

Her brief to them was: "Reflect the life of Asalpha's locals or relate to them". So, besides its many women home entrepreneurs and cats, you will also find an astronaut dangling from a planet on a wall here - -a reminder to local kids to dream big.”

It's not everyday we see a few happy people spreading smiles and joy with art but it's stories like these which make you believe in the power of harmony of brotherhood. Art definitely has the power to bring people together.
