The President Of Iceland Says He Would Ban Pineapple On Pizza If He Had The Power To

There are two types of people in this world – one who hate pineapple on pizza so much they would quit eating pizza altogether, and the second type who absolutely love the taste of pineapple on their pizza. Which type are you? Looks like the president of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, is the former type. Speaking with high school students and teachers at a school in North Iceland, he confessed the truth about his feelings for pineapple pizza.

When asked by students what he felt about pineapple chunks on a pizza, Mr President went full blast on how he was ‘fundamentally opposed’ to such a thing. He went on to say that if they lived in an autocratic fairy tale world, he’d ban pineapple pizza!

Soon enough, his comment ignited the lovers of pineapple pizza and they came out in full force on social media, and the prez was forced to clarify his statement!

He issued a statement on Facebook, that read: “I like pineapples, just not on pizza. I do not have the power to make laws which forbid people to put pineapples on their pizza. I am glad that I do not hold such power. Presidents should not have unlimited power. I would not want to hold this position if I could pass laws forbidding that which I don´t like. I would not want to live in such a country. For pizzas, I recommend seafood.”

That escalated quickly.

Of course, he had supporters too:

I couldn't agree more. #pineappleonPizza is vile and it takes courage to say as much #iceland https://t.co/nG3lqhEE9Q
