Mitchell Johnson Rubs Salt To The Wound Takes A Dig At Team India Coach Anil Kumble

After enjoying a sensational run in the longest format at home, Virat Kohli-led India were finally shot down by a much-superior Australian brigade who scripted a massive 333-run win on a rank turner at Pune to take 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series.

Riding on the heroics of Steven Smith and Steve O'Keefe, the visitors defeated the home side in almost every facet of the game with a staggering seven sessions to spare in the Test match.

Smith had slammed a brilliant hundred in the second innings, but it was the left-arm spinner who did the bulk of damage to the opposition and emerged with sensational figures of 12-70 in the match. While his performance was understandably lauded by the cricket fraternity, O'Keefe's exploits also seemed to excite his former teammate Mitchell Johnson.

Following Australia's mammoth win, the former Australian speedster got in a trolling mood and aimed his words at none other than Team India coach Anil Kumble who had commented on O'Keefe's performance saying that he bowled steady and in the right areas.

β€œHe (Steve O'Keefe) bowled steady. He bowled consistently in good areas. There were a couple of soft dismissals and that pushed us back. We saw Jadeja in the last session where every over he was beating the bat three times. It was just one of those days where on another day, they would have all taken the edge or got a wicket. It was one of those things where O’Keefe pitched it (in the right areas) and he got the results,” Kumble had said after second day's play.

Taking a dig at Kumble, Johnson tweeted: "And the coach of India says Steve O'Keefe is 'Steady' Well done Steady O'Keefe keep it up."

Johnson also congratulated Australia with another tweet: "You ripper Australia! Brilliant test match and the perfect way to start the test series."

Johnson's tweet was probably in the spirit of a healthy banter, but the fact that Kumble coached Mumbai Indians during the Australian's stint with the IPL franchise surely make things a little awkward.

Well, all we can say is that the hothead should be careful in picking up his targets as taking a dig at your former coach is probably not a wise thing to do.
