Accused of domestic violence, cheating on his wife, betraying his country and failing his fans; the past few weeks have undoubtedly been the lowest point in Mohammed Shami's life as a cricketer, husband and role model. The explosive accusations by his wife Hasin Jahan led to the Indian bowling spearhead's fall from grace.
But, after being a subject of immense criticism, Shami was finally handed some reprieve with the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) clearing him of all the corruption charges leveled against him.

Jahan's allegations of match-fixing had initially forced the BCCI to exclude Shami from their list of central contracts for the cricketers. But, the decision of ACU head Neeraj Kumar to exonerate him of the match-fixing charges, saw him finally break into the BCCI's list of central contracts.
"The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) had requested Mr. Neeraj Kumar, former Police Commissioner of Delhi and Head of BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit, to investigate the allegations against Mohd. Shami in so far as they pertain to the provisions of the BCCI Anti-Corruption Code," COA stated in a media release.

The media release further added, "Neeraj Kumar has submitted his confidential report to the CoA. Based on the conclusions in the said report, the CoA is of the view that no further actions/proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter. For this reason, the BCCI shall proceed with offering a Grade 'B' annual retainership contract to Mohd. Shami," the statement added.
While the ACU's verdict allowed Shami to bag a Grade-B contract, it further helped him in rebuilding his reputation with the Indian cricket fans. The decision saw fans from all over the country taking to the social media to congratulate him and give support to the struggling Indian cricketer.

His goodness shadowed the wrong allegations. Hope to see him back on the fieldðð#BCCI #shami
It was a shame @BCCI even withheld his contact. Is a woman's say that powerful? Whatever happened to "not guilty until proven". #shami

Shami will surely be a key player for Delhi Daredevils who would be eyeing a successful campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season.
