Sania Mirza Shuts Down Troll Who Questioned Her Patriotism Over Kathua Gang Rape Remark

Six years after the sensational Nirbhaya case rocked the nation, India has once again found itself on the edge after bone-chilling details in the gruesome Kathua gang rape and murder case which surfaced in the police chargesheet recently. An eight-year-old girl was gang raped and brutally murdered by a group of eight men - including two policemen - in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir.

The minor, born into the family of Bakherwal Muslim nomads, had taken out her family horses for grazing on 11th January when she was kidnapped and confined by one of the accused with the help of sedatives. The girl was held captive and starved for days inside a temple were the men took turns to rape her before mercilessly killing her.

On 17th January, the girl's dead body was recovered based on a tip-off provided by a local. The J&K Crime Branch launched a probe and arrested the perpetrators involved in the heinous crime. And, the police investigation further revealed that Sanji Ram - a former revenue official - had hatched the plan to rape and murder the eight-year-old girl just to "dislodge" the group of Bakherwal Muslim nomads from Rasana village in Kathua.

Apart from this, the inaction in the rape case of a 17-year-old in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh has also made headlines and instigated a strong response across the country, partly due to the support the accused have received. From politicians to celebrities, everyone has condemned the crime while seeking maximum punishment for the culprits.

Is this really the kind of country we we want to be known as to the world today ?? If we can't stand up now for this 8 year old girl regardless of our gender, caste, colour or religion then we don't stand for anything in this world.. not even humanity.. makes me sick to the stomach pic.twitter.com/BDcNuJvsoO

Joining the chorus, Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza minced no words in her remarks over the case. "Is this really the kind of country we want to be known as to the world today ?? If we can't stand up now for this 8 year old girl regardless of our gender, caste, colour or religion then we don't stand for anything in this world..not even humanity..makes me sick to the stomach," she wrote in her first tweet.

Justice needs to be done ... for the sake of keeping our faith in the judiciary and the system alive .. I really hope and pray justice is done .. and soon.. #UnnaoHorror #UnnaoRapeCase

In a follow-up, Sania said: "Justice needs to be done...for the sake of keeping our faith in the judiciary and the system alive..I really hope and pray justice is done..and soon..#UnnaoHorror #UnnaoRapeCase".

Shocked and disturbed by the two incidents, Sania's reaction was quite understandable. But, at a time when everyone was calling for stricter norms to safeguard women in the country, a man - who describes himself as 'Lyricist, Writer BJP SM coordinator.Leo.Nationalist, India Foundation Member #Modibhakt' - targetted Sania for her comments and went on to question her patriotism.

First of all nobody marries 'into' anywhere .. you marry a person! Secondly NO LOW LIFE like you will tell me which country I belong to.. I play for India,I am Indian and always will be.. nd maybe if u look beyond religion and country one day you may just also stand for humanity! https://t.co/0rF9SwG7WT

Not the one to back down from a fight, Sania unleashed her famous smash to serve a befitting reply to the moronic troll. "First of all nobody marries 'into' anywhere..you marry a person! Secondly NO LOW LIFE like you will tell me which country I belong to..I play for India, I am Indian and always will be..nd maybe if u look beyond religion and country one day you may just also stand for humanity!," she hit back.

It's needless to say that her response struck a cord with the fans who lauded the 31-year-old on social media.

What a stupid concept. "Marrying into Pakistan". These people can't see beyond border lines. @MirzaSania you'll always be India's pride and an inspiration to Indian women everywhere.

When @MirzaSania plays and wins its the Indian Tricolor that goes up and the Indian National Anthem that is played across the world. That's beyond the understanding of some people.
