Ravindra Jadeja and his mates at the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were all in a celebratory mood, on Monday, after thrashing Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by five-wickets and dashing their hopes of progressing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. Given the consistency in their performance this season, CSK and their players surely earned some downtime ahead of the all-important Qualifier 1 on 22nd May.

But, while Jadeja was busy celebrating his team's ascension in the IPL, his wife Riva Solanki was, sadly, physically assaulted by a policeman in what appears to be an incident of road rage. Riva was travelling in her BMW when the car allegedly hit the motorcycle of a police constable at Saru Section road in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

Enraged by the incident, the cop - identified as Sanjay Ahir - physically assaulted the Indian cricketer's wife. “The policeman physically assaulted Riva Jadeja after her car hit his motorbike. We are providing all possible help to her and will take strict action against the policeman,” Pradeep Sejul, Jamnagar district Superintendent of Police, told PTI.

According to an Indian Express report, Vijaysinh Chavda - a man claiming to have witnessed the incident - revealed that the policeman thrashed Riva "brutally". “The policeman mercilessly thrashed Riva and even pulled her hair during an altercation. We saved her from his clutches,” he was quoted as saying in the report.

The incident stirred up massive backlash on Twitter where the Jadeja fans demanded a strict action against the policeman who shockingly assaulted a woman.

#GujaratPolice should take a conscious action against the cops who think that they can flaunt any rule to their comfort. Strong action is required against such cops who don't follow the rules.
