To Be Successful In Fitness, Assess The 'Why' Of Your Workouts


When I say be successful in fitness, I don't mean the business aspect of it. What I mean is 'to be successful in fostering a lifestyle of fitness'. Fitness changes lives but it is needless to say, the rate of people dropping out mid journey is astounding. When out in numbers, 8 out of 10 people will fail at achieving a physical transformation they dream of. That's the harsh truth and this will always remain more or less like this.  

People Fail To Look For Or Understand Their 'Why'

Why do people succeed at certain things? They might do a lot of things but come up as a success in a countable few. This is because more or less they know why they are doing the things they are successful at. The motive is clear. The same applies to fitness. If you walk into a gym without a plan, keep bugging your trainer rep after rep and keep you face buried in your phone, you don't know your why. Or better said, you don't want to know your why. If your diet fluctuates more than your moods, you don't know your why. The 'why' is not only important, it's absolutely necessary. 

How To Identify Your Why

Did you pick up the weights for the first time because a girl dumped you, got beaten up by bigger dudes or simply because you didn't like the way you look? Ask yourself why you want to change yourself. Any reason, mind you, any reason is good enough if it gets you going and keeps you motivated. This reason should echo in your thoughts whenever you are in the gym and in the kitchen. Each and every day, without failure, ask yourself why you want it this bad.

You Can Never Actually Lie When You Are Trying to Get Fit

Eat bad, it will show. Skip workouts daily, it will show. When trying to get into shape, what you put in is what you see on the outside. Eat shit, look like shit.  It's simple and uncomplicated. The more you find yourself cheating, the more you are away from still zeroing down on your 'why'. That's why, find your why and then chase the goal.
