In February, Vivo unveiled its Apex concept phone that had the tiniest bezels we've ever seen, a motorised pop-up camera and in-display fingerprint scanner. Almost 30-35 percent of the display supported fingerprint scanning so you wouldn't even have to hunt for the right spot. 

Last month, Vivo globally announced the NEX, a very close sibling of the Apex concept. In fact, the company has managed to bring almost every aspect and feature of the Apex to life. The design is stunning, the front looks huge thanks to negligible bezels and chins and the motorised front camera. The phone skips out on the infamous notch and comes with Screen SoundCasting Technology that does away with the earpiece and uses the phone itself to transmit sound waves to the ear.

Vivo NEX is the first device to sport an all-screen truly bezel-less display with a screen to body ratio of 91.24 percent. Unlike the OPPO Find X, the motorised front camera is in a small tray that slides up, instead of moving the complete top region of the phone. 

Coming to the specifications, it features a 6.59-inch AMOLED Ultra FullView display with 1080 x 2316 Full HD+ resolution, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and 19.3:9 aspect ratio. Powering the phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.7 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU.

The rear sports a dual camera setup of 12 + 5-megapixel lenses and comes with 4-axis optical image stabilization and 4K video recording. For selfies, the front camera is an 8-megapixel shooter. Other features of the lens include Slow Motion, Backlight HDR, Live Photo, Portrait Bokeh, Panorama, Time Lapse, Face Beauty, AR Stickers, Filters.

While Vivo has globally launched two variants of the smartphone, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage, in India only the first variant has been launched. Backing these internals is a 4000mAh battery that supports fast charging via USB Type-C.

It runs on FunTouch OS 4.0 loaded on Android 8.1 Oreo and has an AI-based virtual assistant named Jovi along with a dedicated Jovi button. 

The 8GB+128GB phone is available for Rs 44,990 in India and starts shipping via online and offline channels from 21 July.
