For those of you who freeze at the thought of bungee jumping or river rafting, a rather safe way to feel the same thrill can be colouring your hair. You can come out looking like a stylish new person, or it can end disastrously - who knows? Therein lies the adventure, doesn't it?
However, few things can match the pain of stepping out in public with an unflattering hair colour and the comments it brings forth - unless you have a thick skin and an elastic heart, that is not prone to vanity-inflicted injury.
Here, we have compiled a list of 7 things you should never do, when it comes to colouring your hair:
1. If you're going to experiment with a weird hairstyle, please don't make it look appalling and all the more conspicuous by colouring it with a shocking blonde colour. If SRK can't pull it off, neither can you.

2. Bangs are anyway not fashion-forward when it comes to men's hairstyles, please don't make them look worse by getting blonde highlights. They just look bad and need to go.

3. Unless you're role-playing as a parrot or are all set to walk the runway for an avant-garde show, please avoid fluoro blues and greens. They are extremely tricky to pull off, and you need to be absolutely sure about the aesthetic when you take the plunge. Plus, pairing outfits with them can be a challenge.

4. Always avoid going for a shade that is almost the same colour as your skin tone. Our hair frames our face, so the contrast helps. Also, going for an unflattering yellowish blonde colour will almost never work on a brown skin tone.

5. Please don't go for metallic, shiny shades that are also super vibrant. They don't suit anyone and are just plain tacky.

6. Spiked highlights need to go off the face of the earth. They just have this inexplicable wannabe, douchey vibe, that just can't be salvaged with the best of outfits.

7. Remember the style where you were made to wear a cap with holes, and clumps of hair were pulled out through those holes and were coloured in a shocking shade - usually blonde or the ugliest shade of burgundy? Please don't go for that, for your own sake. If there is a definitive hairstyle that doesn't suit anyone on this planet, it's that one.
