PUBG Fever Grips Team India? MS Dhoni & Co Indulge In Multiplayer Game At Mumbai Airport

Ever since its release in 2017, the PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) has established itself as one of the most sought after online multiplayer shooting game across the globe.

A battle royale game, PUBG allows up to one hundred players to parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed themselves. Over time, the safe area of the game's map decreases in size, directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters. And, the last player or team standing eventually wins the round.

Building on its popularity, PUBG Corporation - a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole - also released the mobile version of the game on the App Store and Google Play Store internationally on 19th March this year. And, the fact that PUBG's mobile version crossed 100 million downloads by August, goes on to highlights to success amongst gamers across the globe.

But, the multiplayer game's popularity isn't just restricted to gamers. In fact, if recent reports are to be believed, the PUBG fever seems to have now gripped the Indian cricket team which has been famous for it's liking towards online games and the gaming consoles.

Smitten by PUBG's rapid rise in popularity, the Indian cricketers were recently spotted indulging in the multiplayer shooting game at the Mumbai airport. Showcasing their PUBG skills, the likes of MS Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Manish Pandey were seen locking horns in a round of PUBG as they waited for their flight at the Mumbai airport.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a picture of the Indian cricketers who were armed with their smartphones and tablets while enjoying the popular multiplayer game. "As we wait for the departure announcement from Mumbai, some of them are playing a very popular multiplayer game," the BCCI tweeted.

While the BCCI didn't disclose the name of the game Indian cricketers were playing, the fans had no doubts that it was in fact PUBG that had kept Dhoni & co occupied at the Mumbai airport. Expressing their views on the tweet, the Indian fans took turns to post their replies on Twitter.
