IPL 2017: Twitterati Demands Virat Kohli-led RCBs Elimination After Another Rout

Ever since recording the lowest team total in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are sliding further down with every game. And, looks like their 49-run total against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was only the beginning of their forgetful season.

RCB had got themselves in a spot of bother after the KKR rout and the wash-out against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) only added to their woes. Facing the Gujarat Lions last night, the margin for error for the Virat Kohli side was very small.

And, unfortunately, the Bangalore franchise paid the price for another batting meltdown to face an early elimination this season. On a good Chinnaswamy surface, that looked better than the last three games, the Kohli brigade underachieved by being bowled out for 134 runs.

If their batting failure wasn't enough, the despondency in their bowling eventually summed up the mood in the Bangalore camp. Aaron Finch feasted on the lacklustre Bangalore attack and ensured Gujarat notched up the mediocre total with 37 balls to spare.

On a night where RCB fans were expecting their big guns to fire, only two of their batsmen - Kedar Jadhav (31) and Pawan Negi (32) managed to go past the 15-run mark. The so-called T20 phenoms Kohli (10), Chris Gayle (8) and AB de Villiers (5) failed to deliver the goods, yet again. It was the first time when the RCB were bowled out in two successive matches.

In the bowling department, Samuel Badree did take two wickets but turned out to be a tad too expensive for Bangalore's liking. His spin-bowling partner Yuzvendra Chahal was also expected to find his mojo, but the right-arm bowler went wicketless for 29 runs in three overs.

As Gujarat romped to a seven-wicket win - their third triumph this season, the hosts endured their sixth loss as they now find themselves staring at an early elimination from the tournament.

With just two wins in nine games and a shambolic net run-rate of (-)1.401, Kohli's team is currently placed seventh in the points table. For a team that boasts of some biggest T20 specialists, Bangalore has clearly disappointed their coaching staff and left the fans dejected. Check out what they had to say on Twitter.
