Pune City FC and their fans are currently in a state of joy.  Ashique Kuruniyan, the 19-year-old boy wonder of the league has been chosen by the Spanish La Liga club, Villarreal for a loan move in their third division team. This marks the first time where a home-grown talent has been selected by a European club. Looks like Ashique has a lot to live up to.

Originally from Kerala, Ashique has previously represented India in the under 18 category of the Asian Championship trophy. In an interview, he said, “This is a dream come true. All these years, we would admire these top clubs and their players from afar, but thanks to Pune City FC and Villarreal, I will get a chance to play at one of the most respected clubs in Spain”. Here’s wishing him more power for a brighter future ahead!
