With Pakistan Reaching The Finals Twitter Declares Team India As 2017 ICC Champions Trophy Winners

Amongst the playing nations who were tipped as favourites, India is arguably the only team which is still in the race to win the ICC Champions Trophy this year. The Men in Blue have fired on all cylinders to win two out of their three group games in the tournament, maintaining their reputation as top contenders.

Beginning their title defence with an astounding win over arch-rivals Pakistan, the Indian side showed their intent and fired warning shots to their opponents. But, in their second group match, Virat Kohli's men got a wake-up call against a resilient Sri Lankan brigade that silenced the Indian bowling unit with a brilliant batting display.

While their loss against an inexperienced Lankan team surely surprised all, those who began questioning India's form and chances in the tournament were soon forced to eat their words following a convincing win for the Kohli side against the nervy South Africans.

In a tournament where teams like Australia and New Zealand struggled to find the right balance and adapt to the conditions, the Indian team didn't just tick those boxes, but also managed to keep their feet on the ground. Such has been their form that even before their semifinal tie against Bangladesh, India had already been tipped as he eventual winners.

With Pakistan running a riot against England to script an eight-wicket win in the first semifinal, social media is busy toying with the idea of a potential Indo-Pak showdown in the final. Though Bangladesh have clearly looked far from just being minnows in the tournament, the general consensus on Twitter seems to have been derived in favour of Team India.
