The Sikh community in Canada and Indians around the world are warmed up in the heart because our beautiful community has created a new history. Palbinder Kaur Shergill, an Indian origin, Sikh human rights advocate in Canada has been appointed as a judge at the Supreme Court in British Columbia.

On this wonderful occasion, World Sikh Organisation (WSO) President Mukhbir Singh said: "The appointment of Justice Shergill is another milestone for the Sikh community in Canada. It is a matter of great pride that today we have the first turbaned Sikh appointed to the judiciary in Canada."

Shergill has been a known name in the legal world there because she has been instrumental in helping human rights law take shape in the country since 1991. She is also a proud recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for Community Service.

She has been very active in community services and after years of hard work, her commendable perseverance has witnessed the fruits of her sowing.Β
