They look identical, right?

But, there's one difference. One costs a whopping $500,000 and the other, well, only took $9,000 to make.

Since the original Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6 is ridiculously expensive, 12 students enrolled at Japan's Nihon Automotive Technology School (NATS) decided to make one on their own, all under the budget of $9,000.

They used a pair of Suzuki Jimny JA11 models from the 1990s as their basic structure. Obviously, the exterior had to be changed massively. They chopped off the rears and increased the length of the frame to accommodate the addition of an extra rear axle. The grille, emblem, LED lights, tail lights, and bumper are all real parts. Since the bumper for the G63 is much wider, which meant that the students had to chop it up and re-fiberglass it to the Jimny.

They also custom-made the bed of the mini-6x6, putting in a one-of-a-kind tailgate as well as an airbrush paint job in order to mimic the wood finish found in the real Mercedes truck.

However, the powertrain underneath this project is still stock, untouched Suzuki and left (therefore, 6x4 would be the more accurate description).

Obviously, it can't beat the original, but look-wise, it's pretty damn close. And, since a majority of people can't really afford the original one, no one would mind getting their hands on this incredible clone.
