Love is stronger than anything be it fear, death or hate. And, there is a Ukrainian couple whose love is a living testimony of this phrase.
Ukraine is under attack and even the civilians of the country are being forced to pick up weapons to fight the Russian invaders and defend their land. The couple who ‘just wanted to be together’ before and if everything comes to an end, tied the knot amid attacks.

CNN journalist Christian Streib shared their photo getting hitched in a chapel in the capital city of Ukraine, Kyiv. He captioned it, “Yaryna, 21 and Sviatoslav, 24 decided to move their May wedding forward and tie the knot today after Russia invaded their homeland last night.”
© Instagram/Christian Streib
The couple met in a protest in 2019 and were planning a wedding in May. However, they had to rush their wedding as Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to declare war .
However, that’s not all. The couple had already planned to sign up with the local Territorial Defense Center and joined the army the very next day of their wedding to fight for their country.

Streib put another post on his Instagram, this time the couple was holding AK-47 in their hands and had a smile on their face.
He wrote, “Today, Yaryna, 21, posted this picture on her Facebook page, proudly displaying the AK-47 assault rifles, received from the government, so she and her husband Sviatoslav, 24, can join the resistance and defend their country.”
See the post here:

Yaryna, in an interview to CNN, said, “No one here is saying that we will lose, or is crying. Everyone here believes we will win. It's all just a question of time. So, I am very happy to see this great amount of people, really being ready to fight. Being ready to kill for their land. Having no doubt about our win in this war.”
© Facebook/Yarina Arieva
People on social media were amazed to see their courage and prayed for their well being during these tough times. They hoped that once this is all over, they are safe and with each other.
A user wrote, “I so feel for those 2 young people. I truly hope they are together again after these terrible times…What a start to a marriage of these young people. I hope you both return to your home safely.” Another wrote, “So beautiful and so sad at the same time. I can not imagine what they're going through but wish them the very best. May God watch over them.”

It is definitely heartbreaking to see the couple taking up arms the very next day of their wedding but it shows their unparalleled courage and love that are stronger than war.
There are hundreds of Ukrainians who had to leave behind their homes, jobs, friends and families to fight for survival and save their homeland.

You know how when the worst happens to you, whether it is you failing an exam or tripping on the office floor embarrassing yourself in front of your colleagues, you somehow find a way to defend yourself and blame anything/one but yourself?
Yeah, that instinct to latch on to any possible explanation for what happened is something that kicks in during desperate situations, much like the case was with BharatPe co-founder, Ashneer Grover.
© Ashneer Grover
From his crude comments on the show Shark Tank India to spicy rumours of his involvement in fraud manipulation by the BharatPe board, the fintech expert has been in the news for as long as one can remember. And we have to admit, while things may have started with a bang, they are definitely not ending with it too.
Ashneer Grover’s wife Madhuri Jain was recently fired by the BharatPe board on charges of ‘misappropriation of funds’.
Soon after, Ashneer Grover too resigned from his post, claiming he was vilified by the investors.
'There's a deep resentment against me after my popularity with #SharkTank & that is what is playing out here' says @Ashneer_Grover, co-founder of @bharatpeindia. #CNBCTV18Exclusive @ShereenBhan @CNBCTV18News pic.twitter.com/ww7ZsRj9Yv
— CNBC-TV18 (@CNBCTV18News) March 1, 2022
Opening up about his exit, Ashneer Grover spoke to CNBC TV18 to share just what happened and most importantly - why.
For someone who had given his vote of confidence to fellow board members like CEO Suhail Sameer, Rajnish Kumar, it was odd to see Ashneer Grover resign from the company and call the others out on being mere puppets in raking this controversy.
When asked why everyone would stand against him, Ashneer says ‘There's a deep resentment against me after my popularity with Shark Tank & that is what is playing out here'.
Thoda sa weak excuse hain
— Beer_View (@parthpatel21) March 1, 2022
He said, “With me at the helm, they [Rajnish and Suhail] will always be in the shadows. As long as I am running the company, and I am at the helm, I will overshadow all of this. Doesn't matter how big you are, and that's become apparent to everyone after Shark Tank even more," claiming that the decision to gang up against him was pure resentment.
He added, “It is a resentment because, with the growth of the company, I have outgrown the company much more than the company itself." In fact, Grover even claimed, “In this company, the only guy that's ever raised a penny is me."
No concrete answers to direct questions. He is not helping his case.
— aditya kishore patankar (@adit504) March 1, 2022...& this is why I'm Out
— RuPay Trading (@RupayTrading) March 1, 2022When asked in detail whether what he cited was true, Grover suggested, “Anyone you want to call, let's have an open debate... You ask them [Kumar, Sameer, and the investors], why have you gone against him [Grover]?"
Ashneer Grover, who is famous for not mincing his words, concluded his interview by yet again being unabashed in his opinion as he called the investors ‘spineless’ and saying, “I resent over trusting people, and I'm not going to ever do it again."
Popularity increased because of Kotak episode more than shark tank.
— Debasish Goswami (@debgo26) March 1, 2022… i wonder what is he smoking. He thinks he built a revolutionary business … that too all by himself. … itni lambi mat phenko ki khud ko hi na dikhe kitni dur tak phenka.
— kunal lakhani (@kunallakhani11) March 1, 2022Meanwhile, people are busy wondering if this was the real and the only reason behind his resignation. One user wrote, “thoda as weak excuse hai”, while another commented, “No concrete answers to direct questions. He is not helping his case.”

Amidst the crazy war between Russia and Ukraine, there was recently a sad announcement of some brave Ukrainian soldiers losing their lives for standing tall against the Russian troops.
It had earlier been reported that 13 Ukrainian soldiers who had been stationed on the famous Snake Island in the Black Sea, were killed for refusing to surrender after being cornered by Russian warships.
© Wikipedia
Now, what was something especially legendary was that it was reported that when the Russian warships asked the soldiers to surrender, the Ukrainians literally resorted to telling them to 'go f**k themselves'.
The audiotape of the exchange between the Ukrainian soldiers and an official from the Russian Navy was shared online, with the Russians getting a brutal reply.

— ian bremmer (@ianbremmer) February 25, 2022
It was later reported that all 13 soldiers stationed at the Zmiinyi Island or Snake Island were killed. However, it looks like there are some new developments to it.
According to the latest reports, the Ukrainian soldiers, are in fact 'alive and well'.
The Ukrainian navy said on Monday said that the brave soldiers guarding the Snake Island survived and are currently in Russian custody.
According to reports, while Russia resorted to destroying the island's infrastructure, which included lighthouses, towers, and antennae, the soldiers are safe.
© Reuters
A Facebook post, most notably from a source in Ukraine shed more light on what happened.
According to the post, there was an initial breach in contact with the soldiers, however, they are now known to be alive.
"We are very happy to learn that our brothers are alive and well. Repeated attempts to contact the staff and find out their fate have been in vain. And the constant shelling by warships and aircraft of the Russian Federation has prevented us from delivering aid to the marines." said the post.
With many joining in Ukraine joining the fight against Russian troops, a lot of civilians have also been fleeing to near countries for safety, with the war currently looking to intensify even further.
Earlier, it was reported that Hollywood star Sean Penn too escaped Ukraine by walking to Poland.

Let's get to the point straightaway. Was casting Alia Bhatt a bad decision when it comes to Gangubai Kathiawadi? This is the hottest topic on social media right now, both for people who have watched the movie and for people who haven't.
View this post on Instagram
For the sake of honesty, I must say I thought so too, initially, before the trailer dropped. But after watching the trailer, I thought let's give the movie a shot. We all know Alia is a brilliant actor - thanks to the challenging roles she has already played in movies like Highway and Udta Punjab - but for the first time, she was about to play a hardened prostitute-turned-politician - a role many of us thought is beyond her scope, even after being armed with the deadly ammunition that is Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
View this post on Instagram
But then, I actually went and watched the movie in a theater. And boy oh boy - was I forced to swallow the bitter pill called 'You were wrong'. Alia not only carried the movie on her slender shoulders like a pro, she also expertly breathed life into a character so complex, that perhaps 70% of Bollywood actresses wouldn't even dare take up. However, does that mean no one else could have played this role as well as she has done it? Therein, my friend, lies the real debate.
View this post on Instagram
When people said she's 'miscast' even after watching the trailer, the main reason behind that statement was the fact that she looked 'too young' and 'too innocent' to play a role so intense according to some. They argued that Bollywood has more capable actors who could have done justice to that role, who are way more seasoned and experienced than Alia. Most people even had two names ready - Tabu and Vidya Balan.
via GIPHY
Once these names are the ones on the table, one really doesn't have an argument. Tabu is an acting Goddess who can play anything. Anyone with a minuscule amount of acting insight will tell you there are very few actors on the globe who are as talented as her, and she has not played a single role till date where she has left scope of improvement. She lives and breathes the characters she plays, and no one can argue otherwise.
© Lata Mohan
Similarly, Vidya Balan is someone who reminded Bollywood that women centric movies need to be taken seriously, even when it comes to Box Office collections and mass appeal. She is someone who easily outshines the 'hero' in any movie, perhaps a reason why we haven't really watched her share the screen with mainstream actors as a 'heroine' of late.
© Balaji Motion Pictures
Naturally, an argument centered on these two powerhouses being able to pull off the role of Gangubai better than Alia is a legit one - one that critics and masses both will agree on. I agree that both of them would have done a tremendous job as well - not a shred of doubt on that. However, that is not the point I'm trying to make here. Acting prowess is not something that was ever questioned when it comes to Tabu or Vidya Balan. However, would they have done justice to the character of Gangubai from a casting perspective when compared to Alia? The answer remains a solid 'NO'.
View this post on Instagram
Before you come at me all guns blazing, let us look at some of the technical bits when it comes to casting for any role. In the film, Gangubai's journey has been documented from when she was as young as a teenager, to her late 30s and early 40s. In fact, the most screen time has been given to the phase when she says she is 27 years old in the movie. Alia Bhatt's age, right now, is 28. Who could have been a better choice for the role when we take this bit into consideration? Perhaps no one else.
View this post on Instagram
Remember Alia's entry as a bright-eyed, young happy girl full of energy in the Jhume Re Gori song? She did full justice to the song, the character, the look, as well as the single-take dance sequences when it comes to that. Now imagine a 51 year old Tabu or a 43 year old Vidya Balan being made to act as a teenager. It simply won't work.
via GIPHY
Alia's transformation throughout the movie - right from the innocent girl with big dreams from Kathiawad to a survivor with a brain and spine inside the brothel, to a grown woman torn between love and duty, to a ruthless politician who is not afraid to play dirty - has been a treat for the audience. She simply did not skip a beat.
View this post on Instagram
How brilliant she is with her craft can be judged perhaps from one single song in the movie called Meri Jaan, filmed in a single shot in the back of a car. Her journey from being flirtatious to revisiting her trauma, to being angry to embracing her lover before finally embracing her vulnerability, as she takes his hand and makes him caress the top of her head as if she were a helpless child, is goosebumps-inducing. All throughout, she doesn't utter a single word while expertly portraying this array of complex emotions, as there is no dialogue.
View this post on Instagram
Her chemistry with Ajay Devgn as well as Shantanu Maheshwari is immaculate, and she doesn't so much as flinch in her scenes with someone as established as Vijay Raaz, who plays the character of her political rival - Razia.
In a nutshell, it won't be an exaggeration to say that Alia Bhatt, in fact, is the perfect choice for the role of Gangubai, and no one else in Bollywood could have pulled it off like she did. Hats off, Alia!

Shreyas Iyer has had a brilliant start to this season as he emerged as the leading run-scorer for the Men In Blue in the just-concluded home T20I series against Sri Lanka.
The new KKR skipper scored three consecutive half-centuries as the hosts decimated the Lankan Lions and clinched the series 3-0. The best part was despite him spending so much time in the middle, no Sri Lankan bowler could see his back as he carried his bat in all three outings.
View this post on Instagram
Despite such a brilliant start to the calendar year, Iyer is still refraining from calling it a perfect start. The right-handed batter feels that it was a decent start to the year but not the best start. The 27-year-old batter says he would have been satisfied with his start had he produced similar performances in South Africa as well.
For Iyer, the tour to the Rainbow Nation that ended last month was one of the worst phases of his international career. Throughout that three-match ODI series, Iyer looked a shadow of himself, managing the scores of 17, 11 and 26 in the three 50-over games.
View this post on Instagram
His struggles were quite visible and one could sense everything was not right with him. After nearly a month, Iyer has now revealed that he actually suffered from a bad stomach infection on that tour. This ailment was so severe that he couldn’t digest anything and he lost seven kilos of weight.
“I wouldn’t say the best start (to the year), but yes, a decent one. Why not great? I had a very bad stomach infection at the start of the year when we were in South Africa. I lost seven kilos there. Basically, whatever I was eating, it was coming out. It was one of the worst phases of my life,” Iyer told TOI.
View this post on Instagram
After failing with the bat in South Africa, Iyer struggled to get game time on a consistent basis when India hosted the West Indies as the management preferred Suryakumar Yadav to him. However, he made most of the whatever opportunities he got and made a strong case for himself.
And then came the T20I series against Sri Lanka where Iyer played to his potential and proved his worth to the team management. Batting fearlessly, he amassed 204 runs in just three outings and bagged the Player of the Series award.
View this post on Instagram
Reflecting on his recent heroics, he said: “Yeah, it felt very good. The start, which I got, was really amazing. I told myself I am just going to play with full freedom because now we have such depth in our batting line-up that it gives us more freedom to go and express ourselves. Even if we are a few runs down, the intent has to be very positive.”
No doubt Iyer batted on a different level against the Sri Lankans but he has every right to boast about it. The fans, however, think that his performances weren’t as terrific as he is portraying them to be.

— Nikhil (@NykhilChopra_) March 1, 2022Bhae ye to khud ko din bradman jaisa portray kr rha hai
— Depression ka shikar // Aditya ali (@4byes) March 1, 2022Playing at home, India were anyways expected to get the better of the Sri Lankan outfit even with their eyes closed. This is how dominant the Men In Blue have been against their Southernmost neighbours in the last few years, especially since the retirement of their stars like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jaywardene.
The visitors were playing with a weekend bowling line up in the absence of star bowlers like Wanindu Hasaranga which made the Indian batters’ job much easier.
View this post on Instagram
Iyer will have a chance to redeem himself when South Africa tour India for a five-match T20I series in June. If he performs against the Proteas, these very fans who are bashing him right now will be left eating their own words.

Raashii Khanna made her debut in the Hindi film industry with the 2013 film Madras Cafe. However, post that, she took a turn towards South Indian films and became a known name in Telugu, Tamil & Malayalam films.
The actress is now making a comeback to Bollywood after 9 years with Ajay Devgn’s debut web series Rudra: The Edge of Darkness.
In an exclusive interview with MensXP, we talked about her web show, her return to Hindi films and more.
© Instagram/Raashi Khanna
When asked about why she didn’t do another Hindi film post her debut and made a name for herself in South Indian film industries she said, “I never thought I would become an actor. But when Madras Cafe happened I really enjoyed doing it and thought this is what I am destined to do. I then waited for the right projects to come my way but nothing really clicked in Hindi. So, I decided to rather wait for the right film. ”
She further added, “In the meanwhile, I think post-Madras Cafe, there was a lot of buzz in the South for me and they started offering me stuff there so, I went there. And even when I was working in the South, I never had this thought that I have to get back someday to Hindi films. I never thought of that. I was very happy sailing there also. And then this series came my way and other series and a film as well. So I went with the flow.”
When pointed out that the sudden interest of Bollywood in the actors working in South Indian films could also be credited to the phenomenon that is “Pan-Indian Films” that have been going around in the last few years.
© Instagram/Raashii Khanna
Raashii agreed and said, “Of course, I think post-Baahubali people started respecting South Indian cinema more which earlier they didn’t, let’s be honest. I think I was also one of those North Indians who used to think, ‘arey south ki movies kaun dekhta hai’ (who watches South Indian films). You know I was like that. I thought South was all about singing & dancing in terms of content and I was so wrong. Because when I went there, I realised they have such good content. Of course, there are commercial films but also there is great content there. And post-Baahubali, it just flooded the gates open and now there is great merger of north & south. And finally, now is the time we can say we are all Indian actors and not Bollywood actors or Tollywood actors. All those boundaries are gone. And I think it’s a great time to be an actor.”
© Disney+ HotStar
Raashii will be seen playing a psychopath in Rudra: The Edge of Darkness which is slated to stream on Disney+ Hotstar from March 4.

There are few things in life that come as difficult for almost everyone I know. Waking up early in the morning on a cold winter day, accepting that pineapple can be a topping on pizza and well, decoding Subramaniam Swamy’s political allegiance.
And while the former two are still things that we can somehow understand and make peace with, senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and his thoughts continue to be a puzzle that no one is willing to solve, perhaps only acknowledge.
And the recent piece of this unsolved puzzle came in the form of a nasty dig at none other than the Prime Minister of our country, Narendra Modi, wherein Swamy referred to him as a ‘political hijra’.
© Twitter
Before I begin to etch out the details of Swamy’s latest political jab, it’s important to know who he really is.
An Indian politician, economist and statistician, who also serves as a nominated Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, Swamy can be best described as a 'washerman’s dog'. Not because he is as loyal as a dog is touted to be, but quite the opposite - because he neither belongs to the house nor to the waterside.
BJP’s strongest weapon and weakest link, Subramanian Swamy is more of a trooper than he is a politician. Choice of weapon? Strategically irksome Tweets, backed up by an army of about 10.6 million people on Twitter, that are ever-ready to side with (or not) him as and when he elects who his next target would be.
And no points for guessing who it was this time.
© Twitter
Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine, the world is witnessing what could be the beginning of an end. With a hostile and ongoing attack on Ukraine by Russia, countries have started to rally allies for Ukraine, as tensions between Russia and the West grow stronger with every strike in Kyiv by Russian soldiers.
At the same time, India is tiptoeing around the situation to protect its diplomatic relations with Russia, which is the major supplier of all of its advanced weapons. And while there has been pressure on India - political and moral, to strongly condemn and stand against the Russian aggression and attack, India has only gone as far as urging Russian President Vladimir Putin to call for ‘concerted efforts from all sides to return to the path of diplomatic negotiations.’
© Twitter
Now, the thing is, I, as someone who is closely following the situation between Russia and Ukraine, can almost feel the frustration of not being able to stand for what is clearly right and wrong. However, I can also not deny how the best bet for India would be to not strain its relationship with Russia, the one country that could be crucial in order to stand up to China as it grows to become stronger each day.
Subramaniam Swamy on the other hand, has a rather linear take on the matter, one where he chose to show empathy for one entire country by showing antipathy for a community in the process.
Now that it is clear that what Russia has done in Ukraine violates BRICS Resolution in Delhi Declaration of last year. Will Modi have the guts to tell Putin to back off?
— Subramanian Swamy (@Swamy39) March 1, 2022
Taking to his Twitter account, the Rajya Sabha MP wrote on Tuesday, “Now that it is clear that what Russia has done in Ukraine violates BRICS Resolution in Delhi Declaration of last year. Will Modi have the guts to tell Putin to back off?”
But that is not what created an uproar. It is what came next.
A Prime Minister of 1.4 billion cultured people cannot be a political hijda
— Subramanian Swamy (@Swamy39) March 1, 2022
Replying to Swamy’s tweet, a user emphasized, “No, he’s caught between a rock and a hard place, the best is to play neutral which he is doing.” And that right there was enough to miff the political leader who went as far as saying, “A Prime Minister of 1.4 billion cultured people cannot be a political hijda.”
Clearly, Subramaniam Swamy didn’t care for counting himself in the count of cultured people, after his distasteful remark. Not to mention how he went ahead to casually imply ‘hijdas’ to be weak and without a spine, as though his comment made him any different.
© Twitter
At this point, I am well endowed with the ‘it is what it is’ & ‘never mince your words’ trope that his tweeple army can throw at me. But what I am not clear with is how can a well-read man as himself choose to demean not just the Prime Minister of a country, but an entire marginalized community of LGBTQ+ people, simply to make a point? And poorly, at that.
The fact that Subramaniam Swamy would stoop down to the level of insulting the transgenders by making that comparison is pretty telling of his concern for a set of different people in a country abroad. Charity begins at home, they say.
And from a time when people would actually care for his opinion, he has now successfully sabotaged his reputation by this one final nail in his coffin, that has made people come undone in his Twitter feed.
I feel this statement definitely crosses a lot of lines. Uncalled for language in political discourse.
— Amit Chaudhury (@mrGlassHfEmpty) March 1, 2022And from your language, it seems that he is PM of 1.4 billion minus 1 cultured people
— Crypto Geekbot (@SenegalPP) March 1, 2022I used to hold high regards for you not so far in the past. Then I came across the word opportunist.
Now, hmm... Nothing.
Get well soon.
— ಮಂದಿರವನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಕಟ್ಟಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ (@Kam_vasudeva) March 2, 2022“It not only disrespects the person who holds the highest position in this country but it disrespects even the LGBTQ community for using the word as a derogatory term,” wrote one user in the comments. While another one commented, “I agree with every word except that only a minuscule of the 1.4 billion people are "cultured". And this is further subject to your notion of ‘culture’”.
You don’t have to use a transphobic slur while criticising him. This is extremely problematic and jeopardises the understanding of an already marginalised community.

They are not shy to be naked, they don't ego ... They have sometime put their self-respect and it's a daily thing.
— Arvind Kumar (@antar_dwand) March 1, 2022Didn’t expect such disrespect addressed for a PM from a so called educated person !
