Love is stronger than anything be it fear, death or hate. And, there is a Ukrainian couple whose love is a living testimony of this phrase.
Ukraine is under attack and even the civilians of the country are being forced to pick up weapons to fight the Russian invaders and defend their land. The couple who ‘just wanted to be together’ before and if everything comes to an end, tied the knot amid attacks.

CNN journalist Christian Streib shared their photo getting hitched in a chapel in the capital city of Ukraine, Kyiv. He captioned it, “Yaryna, 21 and Sviatoslav, 24 decided to move their May wedding forward and tie the knot today after Russia invaded their homeland last night.”

The couple met in a protest in 2019 and were planning a wedding in May. However, they had to rush their wedding as Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to declare war .
However, that’s not all. The couple had already planned to sign up with the local Territorial Defense Center and joined the army the very next day of their wedding to fight for their country.

Streib put another post on his Instagram, this time the couple was holding AK-47 in their hands and had a smile on their face.
He wrote, “Today, Yaryna, 21, posted this picture on her Facebook page, proudly displaying the AK-47 assault rifles, received from the government, so she and her husband Sviatoslav, 24, can join the resistance and defend their country.”

So, I am very happy to see this great amount of people, really being ready to fight. Being ready to kill for their land. Having no doubt about our win in this war.”

People on social media were amazed to see their courage and prayed for their well being during these tough times. They hoped that once this is all over, they are safe and with each other.
A user wrote, “I so feel for those 2 young people. I truly hope they are together again after these terrible times…What a start to a marriage of these young people. I hope you both return to your home safely.” Another wrote, “So beautiful and so sad at the same time. I can not imagine what they're going through but wish them the very best. May God watch over them.”

It is definitely heartbreaking to see the couple taking up arms the very next day of their wedding but it shows their unparalleled courage and love that are stronger than war.
There are hundreds of Ukrainians who had to leave behind their homes, jobs, friends and families to fight for survival and save their homeland.
