After what felt like a lifetime of waiting, Shah Rukh Khan’s next film, Pathaan was officially announced yesterday (2nd March), with King Khan declaring 25th January 2024 as the release date. It’s only natural that Bollywood and Shah Rukh fans are already hyping up for it.
    View this post on Instagram
Pathaan will be directed by Siddharth Anand, and a few other names besides Shah Rukh’s to be associated with this massive project are John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. With such names associated with Pathaan, the expectations from the film are already sky-high, with people already expecting it to take the Box Office by storm.
However, not everyone echoes that sentiment.
Popular celebrity troll (self-proclaimed film critic), Kamaal R Khan has already forecasted his unsolicited predictions on the film, calling it a potential disaster, while also taking the moment to take generous potshots at Shah Rukh Khan.
KRK tweeted, “Ab #Akki Ka Deshbhakti Ka Bhoot #SRK par Bhi Chadha hai. So now he is going to save the country. Lol! Are you people joking? If SRK wants to save the country, then he should go on border to fight with Chinese military instead of giving fake gyaan in the theatre. #Pathaan.”

KRK’s prediction was countered by an SRK fan who augured that Pathaan would go on to collect 300 crores in 5 days, to which the former replied, “Last 9 years Se #SRK Ke Bhakts Yahi Kahte Aa Rahe hain. Aur SRK Ek Ke Baad Ek disaster Deta Jaa Raha Hai. Iss Baar Bhi Kuch Alag Nahi Hoga. Ek Aur Dabba #Pathaan is on the way.”
He continued his Twitter tirade, with a final prediction, “Prediction 62- #Pathaan will be a sure shot disaster. It will be much bigger flop than #TOH. If it won’t be a disaster, then I will stop reviewing films.”

Well, one thing is for sure: If Pathaan falls flat at the box office, then Kamaal R Khan would be swift to claim a victory for his prediction.
However, on the odd chance that the movie becomes a hit, then don’t expect KRK to stick to his word and do the world a favour by stopping his film reviews.

Hanuma Vihari has been a regular feature in India’s Test squad for a long time now. But despite being a seasoned campaigner, the 28-year-old hasn’t been able to play as many matches as he would have liked.
With Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane occupying the third and fifth spot respectively in the Indian batting line-up, Vihari would often find himself dropped to the bench as there was no place for him in the playing XI.

The intense competition for middle-order spots meant that Vihari, despite performing well in the limited opportunities, struggled to break into the playing XI.

Now imagine a player who is fighting for a place in the starting line-up urging the team management to drop him from the starting line-up. Seems crazy, right?
    © Instagram Hanuma Vihari
Well, that’s exactly what Vihari did back in 2019 during the home series against South Africa. Owing to his brilliant hundred in the previous Test match against the West Indies on foreign soil, the team management made him a part of the playing XI in the Vizag Test against the Proteas.

During that Test match, Vihari walked up to the then fielding coach R Sridhar and told him that the team would have been better off had the captain dropped him and played an extra bowler in that encounter.

“During that Vizag Test, I remember he came to me and said 'Sir, I should not have played this Test'. Hanuma had played that Test because he had got a hundred in the previous Test in Jamaica. In India, we play with certain combinations... We still won that Test match on Day 5 but it took the class of Shami to get us there and took so much out of him,” Sridhar told Cricbuzz.

Riding on Mohammed Shami’s brilliant spell on the fifth and the final day, Team India managed to win that match. Despite that Vihari stuck to his words and insisted that the team should go with an extra bowler instead of playing him in the next Test match.
    © Twitter ICC
“He said, 'Sir, next Test I shouldn't play. We should play with an extra bowler because the way we are batting, we don't need six batters'. Rohit was on fire in that series, Mayank was batting brilliantly at that time and it was also his first Test in India. Hanuma knew that the captain of the team would always keep the team ahead of him. He understands,” Sridhar added.

Vihari's gesture clearly tells you what an incredible team player he is. Despite getting limited opportunities, he has always put the team above himself.
With the departure of Pujara and Rahane, Vihari is most likely to get his due in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka, which gets underway in Mohali on Friday.
After a long time, Vihari’s position in India’s playing XI is all but certain and a big-hearted player like him totally deserves that.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have all retained their spot in the top category (A+ Grade) as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its new central contract list.
    © Reuters
This year there were more demotions than promotions as BCCI handed the central contract to 27 players across four categories. Test veterans Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma, who were placed in Grade A till last year, have now been demoted to Grade B.

    © Reuters
This comes after they were dropped from the Test squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka and were asked to play Ranji Trophy by the selection committee.

Veteran wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha, who recently breached the central contract clause by revealing the private conversations he had with the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and head coach Rahul Dravid, has still managed to retain his contract, albeit with a demotion to Grade C from B.

The players who suffered the biggest loss were all-rounder Hardik Pandya and veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan. Both of them were placed in Grade A but have now been demoted to Grade C. In monetary terms, their last contract earned them Rs 5 crore annually but now they will only be getting Rs 1 crore

Last year, the central contract was given to 28 players but this year it has been reduced to 27. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav and pacer Navdeep Saini have been dropped from the contract list.

However, the fans of the Indian cricket team were not upset with these demotions but the lack of transparency in the selection process. Players who are a crucial part of the Men In Blue all three formats are generally placed in the top most category i.e., Grade A.

Till last year, one could understand why the BCCI placed only three players Kohli, Rohit and Bumrah in the topmost bracket as others were not sure of a place in one format or the other. But now this list also includes the likes of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja but the board placed them in Grade A.
    © Reuters
In the last 12 months, Rahul, Pant and Jadeja have all taken their game to the next level and contributed immensely to the team’s success across all formats. Before this central contract list was announced, there were reports suggesting that the BCCI will reward Rahul and Pant with A+ contract but since this official announcement has left the fans fuming.

Pissed with the BCCI for doing grave injustice to three key members of the Indian team, the fans took to the micro-blogging site and bashed the Indian board for not giving the player what they deserved.
VC not in the A+ contract is a complete joke then . pic.twitter.com/9MNRinT7cQ
    — Pradeep #LM7 (@KLRveriyan) March 2, 2022Jadeja deserve A + contract.
    — Tejas Adake (@tejas_adake) March 2, 2022KL and Pant are getting the A+ contract soon and they deserve it
    — ° (@bccindian) March 2, 2022KL Rahul deserve A+ contract.
    — Mobassir Hashmi (@m_Hashmi05) March 2, 2022All of this is a big joke.
All of them are getting 10+ crore in IPL so no one cares about it
    — Professor samuel oak (@prof_oak123) March 2, 2022Even jadeja is, that doesn't gurantee them A.
    — Kullu Kaali (@SirKohli__) March 2, 2022Jadeja and KL should be in the A+ category imo. Not as big names as Kohli/Rohit, but both are near essential in the team in all 3 formats. That should be the yardstick of contract selection
    — asdf (@Saniul_) March 2, 2022The sole purpose of creating A+ Grade was to reward handsomely the players who play all three formats for the Indian team. In the last year or so, Rahul, Pant and Jadeja have been as important a part of the Indian team as the three players who are in the top category and they definitely deserved a place alongside them.
    Here’s the full contract list:
Grade A+: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah
Grade A: Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Rishabh Pant
Grade B: Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma.
Grade C: Shikhar Dhawan, Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Deepak chahar, Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, Yuzvendra Chahal, Wriddhiman Saha, Suryakumar Yadav, Mayank Agarwal
Dropped: Kuldeep Yadav and Navdeep Saini
