There is still no official word about it but the buzz around Bollywood actors' Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal’s wedding is reaching new heights with each passing day.Β

There have been several reports of guests being asked to sign an NDA and adhering to a β€œno phone policy”.Β
Now, a new report has claimed that the reason behind such secrecy around Katrina and Vicky’s wedding is because they have sold their wedding streaming rights to an OTT platform for, get this, a whopping Rs 80 crore!

According to Mid-day, Amazon Prime Video was already looking to start a documentary-style series revolving around big fat weddings in India. Now, Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal’s highly publicised wedding ceremonies will kickstart the series.

A source told the tabloid, β€œThe OTT platform has been looking at starting a grand wedding series focusing on big Bollywood nuptials. Vicky and Katrina’s wedding will be designed as an expansive feature, tracing their love story with bytes from the two stars, their friends and family, and a glimpse of the roka that happened last month. It will give an all-access view to the four-day celebration β€” from the sangeet to the reception.”

The source further added, β€œThe platform is said to be taking care of the expenses of the sangeet and mehndi events. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, and other artists performing at the sangeet, are apparently sponsored by the OTT channel. A team of videographers has been sent by them to film the band-baaja-baaraat.”

The report also stated that the guest list consists of just 120 people with only close friends from Bollywood invited, β€œEvery invitee has not only been given a special QR code to gain access, but has also been asked to sign an NDA contract. Barricades have been put up around the resort so that paparazzi can’t take a sneak peek into the events.”

So, all the fans who are eager to get a glimpse of Katrina and Vicky’s wedding will be in for a treat when the series reportedly streams early next year.

There used to be a time, not very long ago, when marrying after you’ve entered the show biz, would be equivalent to self-sabotage, especially and only if you were a woman.Β
Take Karishma Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit or even Aishwarya Rai for instance.Β
Of course, they came back to the screens in the recent past, but as compared to how they were topping the charts back then, one movie in 3 years seems only like a consolation prize.
However, things have changed now. And safe to say, for the better.Β

Breaking past this sexist barrier where male actors would still have movie offers rolling in after getting married, while women were cast aside for β€˜safe’ roles or tending to children at home, new age actresses have proven that they can be successful and a wife all at the same time.Β

From Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra to now Katrina Kaif, it seems like all of these actresses opted to get married during the peak of their career, not letting society or stereotypical traditions dictate their life. And boy, has it turned out well for them.
Seconding this fact is Manikarnika actress Kangana Ranaut who surprisingly didn’t bashΒ anyone this time, but lauded actresses for choosing to marry early in life and even men younger than them.
    Β© Twitter
Ahead of the rumoured wedding of actor Vicky Kaushal and actress Katrina Kaif in Rajasthan, Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram stories to give out her two cents on the topic.Β

She lauded β€˜rich and successful leading ladies of the film industry' for β€˜breaking sexist norms’ by marrying men who are younger than them.Β
While Ranaut didn’t take any names, it didn’t take much to put two and two together, considering the Uri actor Vicky Kaushal is 5 years younger than Katrina Kaif.Β
    Β© Twitter
She wrote, β€œGrowing up, we heard many stories of successful rich men marrying much younger women... For women to be more successful than their husband was seen as a major crisis, forget marrying a younger man after a certain age, marriage was impossible for women .... Nice to see rich and successful women, leading ladies of Indian film industry breaking the sexist norms.... Kudos to men and women both for redefining gender stereotype.”

While in the past, Kangana has made a lot of remarks that were controversial, this time around she struck a chord with her words for they were all so true.Β

Besides Katrina, actresses who married men younger than them, and proudly so, have been Priyanka Chopra (married to Nick Jonas who is 10 years younger than her) and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (married to Abhishek Bachchan who is 3 years younger than her).

From finance to IT, most industries are male-dominated and women working in these sectors are often made to feel they don’t belong. Sexism and biases towards male workersΒ are common towards women.Β
However, the same also goes for men who are working in female-dominated workplaces.Β
    Β© iStock
Health, teaching and education, and fashion and personal care are some of the work sectors which see more women than men. And the few men opting for these careers experience the same gender bias, sexismΒ and other problems as women in a male-dominated profession.Β

    Β© iStock
A man who chose a career that mostly has women shared his experience on Reddit and asked other men like him for their advice and experience.Β

He wrote, β€œI have been studying in a career that is mostly made up of women, making men a minority. Classrooms tend to be about 25 people, but a maximum of 3-5 are male (including me)...I would appreciate it if you guys share your experience and your advice as well.”
    Β© iStock
Here are some of the things men noticed while working in female-dominated workplaces:

    1. Sexism & ObjectificationΒ "Male bashing and objectification is the rule. Be prepared to be the representative for your gender."
    2. Stay Away From The Drama"I used to work in a more male-dominated workplace..but now my workplace is mostly female. Aka just me and another dude vs like 20 other females. And geez... one thing I learned...stay the f... away from all the dramas lol. There's no middle ground. Just stay away altogether. It's only been 6 months but heck."
    3. The Attention Isn’t That Bad"I worked at a Wendy's for about a year that was 60/40 or 65/35, so while not dominated, that store was made up of a majority of women. I honestly had a lot of fun, but if I'm being honest I got a lot of attention from them. I was 25, and they were all mostly 18-20 or 35+."
    Β© iStock
    4. Expectations To Do The Hard WorkΒ "Be prepared to do extra stuff. It's just assumed. Water jug needs changing? You. Furniture needs moving? You. You doing the men's work may be assumed, but don't expect anyone to do traditionally female tasks in return, or you'll catch all sorts of hell."
    5. Some Women Can Be Crude"Crudeness is the biggest thing. Women can get away with sexual harassment a lot more too. It’s getting better but still not equal to how they treat men."
    Β© iStock
Some men also feel left out in a female-dominated work and experience sexism and bias just like women do.Β

The difference is we don’t always hear their stories, unless it’s a Reddit thread.Β Β

Katrina will be back on her film set after the wedding."

View this post on InstagramBefore heading for a small holiday, the couple will host a reception in Mumbai at Taj Lands End for industry friends. As per the report, Vicky and Katrina will take out some days for their honeymoon before leaving for their work schedules.Β Β

Vicky Kaushal will be seen in Meghna Gulzar's upcoming biopic on Sam Manekshaw titled Sam Bahadur. The actor will also be seen in the comedy-drama, Mr. Lele.Β
View this post on InstagramFor the unversed, Katrina and Vicky’s dating rumours had begun when during an award show, the actor had confessed that he has a huge crush on Katrina. While both were on the stage to present an award, Vicky had asked her "Why don't you find a nice boy like Vicky Kaushal and get married to him?" He further raised eyebrows by asking her, "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi?”

One of the most successful actors of all times who is popularly known as β€œHe-Man” of Indian cinema, DharmendraΒ turns 86 today.Β

Even at the age of 86, he is as busy as ever with two big films in his kitty - Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem KahaniΒ and Anil Sharma’s Apne sequel titled Apne 2.Β
A few years ago, Dharmendra had talked about being inspired by Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood who had stated he will work till 105 and β€œI am sure I will follow that.”
Well, Clint Eastwood may be his inspiration now at this stage of his career, but it is a known fact that it was Dilip Kumar that got him inspired to act in films. On many occasions, Dharmendra has talked about his love and admiration for Dilip Kumar.Β
In fact, in 1955 Dilip Kumar played Devdas in Bimal Roy’s iconic film of the same name. The movie and Kumar’s performance inspired Dharmendra so much that he’d enact scenes from the film in front of a mirror.Β

Over the years, Dharmendra has expressed multiple times his dream to play Devdas on the big screen.Β

His dream almost got fulfilled in the β€˜70s-’80s when writer-director Gulzar started his version of Devdas with Dharmendra, Hema Malini and Sharmila Tagore in the lead roles.Β

After shooting for the film for a few days, it, unfortunately, ran into financial troubles and eventually got shelved. Years later in 2018, Dharmendra had taken to Twitter to share a poster of Dilip Kumar starrer Devdas and stated, β€œDevdasβ€”β€”Β  I loved the most !!!”

He also shared a picture of himself stating how Devdas was his β€œdream role”. His caption read, β€œβ€œNEHIN tu tu MERI paro NEHIN β€œ it was my dream to play Devdas!!!”

Moreover, during the promotions of Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, in an interview with Zoom TV, Dharmendra was shown a BTS still from the shelved Devdas featuring him, Hema Malini and Gulzar. After looking at the picture, Dharmendra said, β€œDevdas ban rahi thi. Fir woh beech mein financial problems (Devdas was being made, then it ran into financial trouble) then it didn’t happen. I was very...It was my dream role. I would’ve lived the character.”

β€” CinemaRare (@CinemaRareIN) December 15, 2017A few years ago, National Film Archives of India (NFAI) director Prakash Magdum had told PTI about trying to restore whatever was shot of Dharmendra starrer Devdas.Β
He had said, β€œWe are trying to trace the two reels of the aborted production that featured Dharmendra and Hema Malini. I just spoke to Gulzar who has given some clues as to from where these reels could be procured. We hope to get it to preserve in our archives.”
Here’s hoping the NFAI is able to preserve the two reels and Dharmendra’s dream of playing Devdas, even if for a few scenes, gets fulfilled.
