Entire nation stands unified against such acts, Chaudhry says; notes state is responsible to provide protection to minorities

Bollywood is truly a very competitive place for an actor.
It doesn't matter that you're good enough. There are apparently so many factors that determine whether you make it big in the industry or fall right on your face.
Now, Vivek Oberoi is one such actor who's been through it all in the two decades of time that he has spent in the industry.
© Netflix
Despite having such a promising start in Bollywood with films like Yuva, Company, Shootout At Lokhandwala, Saathiya and others, Vivek faced a lot of trouble in getting work in the industry.
A lot of it is said to be down to his fight with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
Both Salman and Vivek had a war of words that apparently exceeded than just being that, with the matter being related to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
© Twitter
It was said to be one of the biggest known controversies in the industry, and things just couldn't quite be the same for the star after that.
Now, Vivek is starring in the third season of his Amazon Prime show Inside Edge and he speaks about the journey that he has been on.
Stating how despite the success of his films, Bollywood refused to give him work, Vivek says:
“The industry just refused to give me work. For whatever reason, they used to call me and say ‘bro we love you for this, you would be awesome in this role but if we sign you, there is pressure from here, pressure from there’. All this junk, all this useless manipulative nonsense that my industry has unfortunately been. It’s been a system in my industry that oh we don’t wanna piss this one-off, don’t want to upset that one. These are the things that unfortunately cost a lot of good actors their prime.”
Now, with things being like that for any artist, it can be easy for someone to just fall down in the dumps.

However, Vivek reveals that he chose to rise to the occasion, which he did by 'empowering himself'.
“My reaction to that is I empowered myself. I got out of the industry, built a separate business for myself. I used my brain to create my own startups. I built a whole different financial ecosystem for me which kept me comfortable. So today I don’t have to work to run my kitchen or economy, I am blessed like that. Then after that position of empowerment, I went out and started seeking people I would like to work with. So that’s been my process, to work with people whom I enjoy working with and not feel like I am doing a job. Mein Naukri Nahi Karna Chahta.” said Vivek.
Kudos to Vivek, because it surely must take a hell of a lot of willpower to keep battling these challenges.
In the meantime, you can watch him in Inside Edge where he plays a dark role of a cricket league manipulator.

Getting over some you had a connection, a relationship with is never easy.
In fact, it is one of the most infuriating and exasperating things to do, because neither it is a switch that you can turn off, nor are you fully convinced that you want to, even if that were the case.
And that constant juggle between wanting to and not being able to let go is something that often makes way for a few bad and reckless decisions, like texting your ex.
via GIPHY
Now, the urge is understandable. You guys have so much history, comfort and the territory is well acquainted with.
However, while all of that may be true, another thing that is also true and often looked past is the fact that despite having all that connection with your ex, there is a reason you two aren’t together.
Which is why, next time you feel tempted to text your ex back after a romantic rejection, a bad day at work or simply out of curiosity, ask yourself these questions first.
1) ‘How Did The Relationship End? Whose Decision Was It, Or Was It Mutual?’
via GIPHY
This very first question should do the trick for quite some people, simply because it reminds one of how things went south and that realisation is enough to give people some perspective and jol them out of the memory lane.
2) ‘Do I Regret My Decision (If It Was Yours)?’
via GIPHY
If you were the one to call it off with your ex, could it be that after spending some time apart you realise what a big mistake you’ve made? Or is it just the moment or the wee and lonely hours of the night catching up to you?
Because if the answer is the former, you should call her at the drop of your hat. But if it’s not, don’t pull her down with you in a moment of weakness.
Give it time, it’ll pass.
3) ‘Have They Changed Their Mind?’ © Twitter
And if it was their decision to break things off, is it so that they’ve changed their mind and want to come back to you?
Because even then, you need to decide whether giving them a second chance is even worth it or not, because you wouldn’t want to get hurt and go through the process of break-up all over again.
4) ‘Have We Both Changed As People & Grown Into Different People Since The Break-Up?’ © Illuminati Films
Most relationships end because people realise that they aren't compatible anymore or have a few habits that the other person couldn’t make peace with.
However, if at any point after the break-up, both the parties feel that they might have evolved or transformed into different people, it would be worth giving things another shot.
But if that’s not the case and the fundamental differences still exist, then there is no point getting yourself into a mess you weren’t able to clean before.

Not only on-screen, but even in real life, Bollywood has given many fairytale love stories to the world, making them believe in soulmates and true love. The real-life love stories of various celebrities create a stir among fans and media for breaking several stereotypes. One of the most talked-about stereotypes broken by your favourite stars is not giving importance to age difference to be with the love of their life.
Not just in Bollywood, even in general, it is considered that a man should be older than a woman. However, many Bollywood couples have broken this stereotype and proved that a woman marrying a younger man makes no difference in their relationship or bond. Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal are the latest B-Town couple who are set to break this stereotype. Katrina and Vicky, who have an age difference of five years, are tying the knot on December 9 in an intimate ceremony in Rajasthan.
Below, take a look at the Bollywood couples who totally ignored the age difference stereotype and are going strong:
Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal View this post on Instagram
Katrina Kaif, one of the most successful actresses of Bollywood, is finally taking her relationship with actor Vicky Kaushal to the next level. The duo is getting married in Rajasthan on December 9 in the presence of their families and friends. The couple didn't let the age difference of five years come in the way of their relationship. Katrina is 38 while Vicky is 33. Both of them along with their families have already reached the venue for their much-awaited marriage ceremony.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas View this post on Instagram
Bollywood's very own 'desi girl' Priyanka Chopra is 10 years elder to husband Nick Jonas. The much-in-love couple got hitched in a grand ceremony on 1 December 2018, and are in a happy space. Recently, after Priyanka removed ‘Jonas’ from her name, there were speculations that all is not well between the duo. However, they soon put an end to the rumours by posting lovey-dovey posts for each other and recently celebrated their third wedding anniversary.
Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover View this post on Instagram
Bipasha Basu, who is currently away from films, exchanged wedding vows with actor Karan Singh Grover on 30 April 2016. Since then, the couple is in a happy space and often share adorable pictures on social media showing off their 'monkey love'. For the unversed, the couple has an age gap of three years. At the time of their marriage, the Dhoom 2 actress was 36 while Karan was 33.
Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan View this post on Instagram
Aishwarya and Abhishek, who are parents to their 10-year-old daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, tied the knot on 20 April, 2007. The Guru stars have an age difference of three years. Aishwarya was 34 when she got married to 31-year-old Abhishek. The couple has been going strong for the last 14 years which further proves that age is just a number.
Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu View this post on Instagram
This cute couple first met each other on the sets of Dhoondte Reh Jaoge in 2009 and fell in love while shooting for their film 99. Before getting married on 25 January 2015, Kunal and Soha dated each other for several years and were in a live-in relationship too for a brief period. At the time of their marriage, she was 37 while Kunal was 32.

Ever since Abhay Deol made his debut with Imtiaz Ali’s Socha Na Tha, he has always believed in delivering something unconventional each time he has come on board for a film.
Some of his films that have attained a cult following over the years include Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Dev D, Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, Manorama Six Feet Under, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara etc.
The actor who is quite choosy with his scripts has slowed down a bit in recent years, as far as his films are concerned.
He was last seen in the 2020 Netflix film What Are The Odds which he also produced and is now returning to the big screen with Velle after the 2018 horror-comedy Nanu Ki Jaanu and his cameo in Zero.
His upcoming film Velle marks his first collaboration with his nephew Karan Deol, who is the elder son of Abhay’s cousin brother Sunny Deol.

Ahead of the film's release, we sat down with Abhay and Karan for a chat and pointed out about the hashtag that the former uses on Instagram, “#MakingWhatBollyWouldn’t” and how he was a major force in blurring the lines between mainstream and parallel cinema 10-15 years ago backing the kind of films that are considered mainstream today.
Responding to it, Abhay told MensXP, “I hope I get to continue making such films. It is not easy. I hope that people continue to give me chances. But, the thing is, what I want to do today, it’s the same thing, it is ten years later. Because people are doing today, what I did 16 years ago. What I want to do today, they are not making it right now.”

He further added that he is "bored" of what Bollywood is doing today and "what I want to do now is far more provocative. And it’s not the time for that because they have just come around to accept what I did more than a decade ago. So, now it’s hard for me because I want to repeat what I did with those movies but they are not going to take a chance because those movies are not being made right now. Now it’s harder because it’s all corporatised. So, hopefully I get a chance to do what I did earlier. There may be one, actually, no, there may be two of such films releasing next year.”

We then asked Karan about how he perceived the kind of films his "Abhay chachu" was doing, he stated, “I loved his body of work. I loved Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, I loved Dev D, I loved Manorama Six Feet Under. I have seen everything he has done and I thoroughly loved it. It was brave what he was doing because no one was doing it at that moment of time. And that cinema, it connected with my generation. Like it really connected with us and it was a really brave and bold step. And he was brilliant in everything and I still see those films. They stood the test of time. You see any of his films today and it’s still relatable. Hats off to him for making those decisions and I would love to do what he has done. I will be fortunate to get those types of subjects.”

As for their film Velle, apart from Abhay and Karan, the movie also stars Anya Singh, Sawant Singh Premi, Vishesh Tiwari and Mouni Roy.
Backed by Ajay Devgn and directed by Deven Munjal, Velle is an official Hindi remake of 2019 Telugu hit Brochevarevarura.
The film is slated to hit the big screens on December 10.

The Bollywood Wedding season is here again and this time around, it's the marriage between stars Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal.
The two actors, who've been dating each other since 2019 are finally tying the knot in grand style at a luxurious Rajasthan resort and have been the talk of the town for quite some time.
Now, at the time of their wedding, it's fair to recall some other similar grand and super expensive Bollywood weddings that actually ended up in divorces.
1. Samantha Ruth Prabhu & Naga Chaitanya © Twitter
Actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya got married at a fancy wedding back in 2017 in Goa, and spent reportedly spent a sum of around Rs. 10 crores.
However, despite spending big on their marriage and being happy with each other for some time, the couple decided to separate from each other this year.
2. Karisma Kapoor & Sanjay Kapur © Twitter
Bollywood superstar of the early 2000s, Karisma Kapoor got married to businessman Sanjay Kapur back in 2003 in what was a very expensive wedding.
However, loads of marriage problems and controversies led them to end their marriage.
3. Hrithik Roshan & Sussanne Khan © Twitter
Hrithik made his debut with Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai back in 2000 and while he became an instant heartthrob, he ended up breaking hearts by marrying his childhood sweetheart Sussanne Khan in a grand wedding that cost 3.5 Crore Rupees.
Unfortunately for both, they ended up divorcing each other in 2019 but still maintain a good relationship.
4. Imran Khan & Avantika Malik © Twitter
Imran Khan married girlfriend Avantika Malik back in 2011 and spent around Rs 5.5 Crore on their wedding.
However, despite being so close to each other, the two separated from each other.
5. Manisha Koirala & Samrat Dahal © Twitter

Bollywood stars Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal are finally getting a wedding that sounds to be something out of this world, if reports are to be believed.
I mean, of whatever we've heard of the insane wedding in the luxurious Rajasthan Royal wedding, it truly would be a dream wedding for anyone.

However, while Katrina, who has done ever so well since making her debut in Bollywood, is getting hitched now, there was a time when she too was in some kind of an existential crisis as a lot of us single people find ourselves to be at times.
Ever seen your friends, seniors, juniors getting married on social media, and you're like 'Bhai! Ho Kya Raha Hai?"
Well, guess what? Katrina too was like the rest of us.
While speaking in an interview with Filmfare back in 2018, she spoke about how she felt when her industry friends Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra got married.
© Twitter
© Twitter
Stating that she didn't want to be 'left behind', she said, “Everyone’s getting married, I’m like, ‘Don’t leave me behind’. It’s like everyone’s gone ahead of you, and you’re like, ‘Wait for me!'”
We're pretty sure that Katrina clearly wasn't short of suitors even back then.
However, later in the interview, while speaking about having a boyfriend, the actress labelled the qualities that she would want her potential future boyfriend to have.
Stressing on what the guy should have in order to get her attention, Katrina said, “Just make sure I am aware that you want it. A sense of humour is really important, and maybe smell good.”
Ah! How time flies.
Katrina is now all ready to tie the knot to Vicky, reports state, and the wedding is really the talk of the town.
The two stars who are getting hitched in the royal wedding in Rajasthan started secretly dating each other in 2019.
Little did we know that they were destined to become The Super Bollywood Couple in two years' time.

Just a couple of days ago, as I stepped out for the first brunch of this chilly winter season, I made it to one of Delhi’s top-notch restaurants famous for its Sunday brunches.
Accompanied by my girls and one of our male friends, I thought the day was going to be about stuffing our faces with food and laughter. Little did I know, being served on the side of the main course was going to be rampant sexism.
Having settled into a cosy spot at the restaurant, we were all busy awaiting the waiter and appreciating the interior, when we were served with two things - a menu and a whole lot of gender bias with just one simple yet problematic gesture.
© iStock
You see, out of the 3 girls that sat at the table, the waiter (rather innocently) placed the food menu in front of us women while our male friend was presented with the drinks menu. Not that he asked for it considering he wasn’t drinking and we, on the other hand, had called for it twice, but, just because.
In a split second, it took me back to recollect all the other times when something similar happened, either with the drinks menu or with the check.
And I don’t know what was worse, the fact that it was somehow implied that a man will choose to have liquor and a woman won’t, or that the patriarchy was so deeply embedded in the head of the waiter, that it didn’t cross his mind and came almost like an instinct to him.
© iStock
Now, most of you would think that maybe I am reading too much into the situation, maybe the waiter didn’t mean to feed into the gender bias that assumes men would drink while the woman would abstain. Except, he did. And this is where society comes in.
For centuries now, people have been trying to typecast men and women into brackets that call for men being bitter and women, sweet. A man is supposed to be tough, authoritative and enjoy the finer things in life like alcohol. While a woman is supposed to be dainty, polite, obedient and (with the permission of le man) enjoy the occasional cocktail.
© Pinterest
While a lot has been said about women being looked down upon in these cases by assuming that they won’t indulge in such intoxication, let’s talk about men and how they’re perceived to be the ones who definitely would lest they want to be termed as ‘girly’ or ‘less of a man’.
Society, at large, has stipulated that a man needs to behave a certain way to be qualified as one and everyone including you and I and everyone around us like that waiter or our parents or even Bollywood has had a role to play.
© iStock
Whether it is by showing a man hit the bar to bust stress while a woman is shown eating a tub of ice cream in bed, or through sexist advertisements that promote alcohol as a ‘man’s drink’, men have always been pressured and conditioned to fit into this definition of a toxic male through little acts of sexism just like the one we experienced at the restaurant. Because apparently, this is what decides the ‘toughness’ of a male.
Describing the psyche that goes behind such gender bias at the bar or restaurants, Joan Meyers-Levy, professor of marketing at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management says, “It's all coming from gender roles that are in part learned and in part biological. We learn that males are expected to be agentic — aggressive, responsible, authoritative — whereas the female role is to be communal, more friendly and helpful. And for women, that role is something we're supposedly endowed with; we're viewed as being naturally communal from birth. Our role is less in jeopardy than for men, whose role is more difficult to achieve and needs to be earned."
© iStock
It’s 2021 and the fact that the man at the table is still being steered into preconceived notions of patriarchy is not just sad, it is frustrating.
More so, because it doesn’t simply end at being offered the drinks menu as a man who shall drink and decide for the women at the table. But also because in case the man does choose a drink that isn’t a customary beer or whiskey, he will yet again be judged for his ‘feminine’ choices. So much for moving towards a world free of gender bias.
So, to all the customers, waiters and restaurateurs reading this, here is a sincere request to stop spreading or indulging in gender bias and creating pressure on men, mindlessly, through acts that are clearly sexist.
