It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been writing these movie reviews for old popular films and if there is one thing that I’ve realised is that almost no Bollywood movie, not even the funny and iconic ones, are usually made without a few fundamental and conceptual flaws, or without asserting something problematic. Case in point - Namaste London.
The movie, which once used to be my absolute favourite, is actually regressive AFΒ and we’re here to tell you why.

    via GIPHY
Namastey London follows the life of Manmohan Malhotra (Rishi Kapoor) who is an Indian living in England with a family of two and a very regressive mindset.Β
Manmohan isn’t just your typical Indian sexist male who likes to take away all agency from women in the house and establish his authority as supreme. But he is also shown to be embarrassed by his own wife Bebo, whom he married back in Punjab and then got to London, away from her roots.

    via GIPHY
From forcefully setting up her daughter for meeting Indian boys for marriage, without even taking into consideration or asking her what she wants, Manmohan comically fails at parenting during the first half of the film and how.Β
    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
Meanwhile, Jasmeet aka Jazz (Katrina Kaif) is your typical half Indian, half British brat who wears rebellion on her sleeve. She likes to defy everything her father says, and we don’t blame her (for most of it), considering she is an adult and shouldn’t be forced to marry someone she doesn’t like.

    via GIPHY
But that doesn’t deter Manmohan’s spirits in the slightest, for he cat-fishes his wife and daughter to travel with him to India to see the Taj Mahal, but ends up making her meet boys for marriage.Β
While on their trip, Manmohan goes to visit his own family and friend, whose son Arjun Singh (Akshay Kumar) inevitably falls in love with Jazz.
    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
Now, that whole β€˜falling in love’, as romantic as it may have seemed back in the day, was in fact as creepy as ever. Arjun’s idea of falling in love constituted intimidating Jazz in the middle of the night on top of a terrace, constantly harassing her and coming on to her a little too strong.Β

    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
Meanwhile, Jazz’s father doesn’t give a damn about her daughter’s choice and forces her hand to marry Arjun. Which she does, but with terms and conditions applied.

    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
She tricks Arjun into not getting their marriage registered and makes him fly back to London with her almost immediately. This way, when they arrive back, Jazz tells Arjun and her father how β€˜legally’ she is still unmarried in London. Mic drop.

    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
Now, even though by this point, the movie had made a villain out of Jazz, she wasn’t wrong.Β

Fending for your own rights and choices, especially as a woman, shouldn’t be looked down upon and that is exactly what the movie did - made Jazz the β€˜bad guy’ of the film simply because she didn’t want to abide by her father’s rules.
    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
The rest of the movie where Arjun continues to pine over Jazz and get close to her under the pretext of friendship takes a rather predictable turn after it establishes how Charlie Brown (Jazz’s love interest) is in fact a bad choice for her.Β

    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
This was laced with a lot of anti-British jokes which (even if they are fine, considering they colonised us and gave us hell for decades on end) were rather hypocritical coming from Manmohan who would live and earn there, but still, diss the country.Β

    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
Basically, Jiss thaali main khaya, ussi main thook diya.

    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
Towards the end as the wedding of Jazz and Charlie approaches, Jazz falls in love with Arjun and Arjun, patiently waits till the very end moment - at the altar of her wedding, to play the ultimate trump card.Β

He then discloses how he is not the Hindi-speaking simpleton that Jazz thought him to be, but in fact, was well-versed with the English language. Way to go for manipulating a woman, all this while!
    Β© Viacom 18 Motion Pictures
Obviously, Jazz abandons Charlie Brown (and subsequently her dreams, ambitions, country, friends) to marry Arjun and move to a village in Punjab with him.

    The End.

BollywoodΒ stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar have a crazy fan following, especially within India where people can quickly end up getting too close to their much-loved stars.

Now, while most of the time, actors have their bodyguards in close proximity for their protection, one can never be too sure about miscreants or criminals wanting to do harm to the superstars.
    Β© Reuters
This is the reason why many Bollywood superstars have now opted for buying special bulletproof and bomb-proof cars, in order to just add that extra layer of protection for themselves and their families:

    1. Shah Rukh Khan (Mercedes Benz S600 Guard) Β© Instagram
Shah RukhΒ is obviously the Badshah of Bollywood and clearly needs protection most of the time.

The Tamil film industry, apart from giving us some of the best tracks in the country that are still used as party bangers, has also given us raw entertainment in the form of fight scenes - the unabashed, crowd-pleasing, whistle-extracting kind.Β

    via GIPHY
While production value of most of them are inimitable, it is noteworthy that there are multiple actors in the Tamil film industry who actually are super fit, and can effortlessly hold their own in an unexpected street fight IRL.

    via GIPHY
Keeping that in mind, here's a list of the 7 fittest Tamil actors who are super strong IRL and can actually kick ass in a real fight.Β
    7. Ajith Kumar View this post on InstagramIt's been decades since Thala Ajith has been entertaining us with his OG moves. He's a pro at action scenes - that bit is a no-brainer - but fans were taken aback when he went through a hardcore transformation and sported a jacked physique, replete with six pack abs for his movie 'Vivegam'. The man is experienced, gives his 100% for his fight scenes, and if he could do that in his fifties, he is fit enough to handle a street fight.

Yes, the man is lean, but why should it mean he should struggle in a street fight? Just take a look at that ectomorph yet muscular physique, and the way he kills his workouts at the gym, and you'll be convinced that it won't be easy getting past this unassuming yet worthy opponent in a street fight.
    5. Bharath Srinivasan Β© Bharath Srinivasan
This may be an unexpected name for most, but just take one look at his incredible transformation where every single muscle is visible like an anatomy book, and you'd be able to gauge the intensity of the training and hard work that has gone behind it. This man clearly is a beast inside the gym, and some of it surely will effortlessly translate to sheer power outside the gym as well.

    4. Suriya Sivakumar Β© Twitter - SuriyaFC
    Β© Twitter - SuriyaFC
Suriya Sivakumar is the OG fitness icon when it comes to the Tamil film industry. He did it back when no one could manage to sport a six pack in commercial cinema, and his legion of fans still swear by his strength and charisma exuded in the super duper hit movies he has acted in. Talk about doing it right, before it became cool!Β

    3. Chiyaan Vikram View this post on Instagram

Because of how powerful an actor he is, the fact that Chiyaan Vikram is one of the fittest and strongest actors in the Tamil film industry is often ignored. Right from sporting a lean & mean physique with a six pack to bulking up into a fierce fight machine, this man has done it all, and we're absolutely certain that he will give his opponent something to think about, if he ends up in a street fight unexpectedly.Β
    2. Arun Vijay View this post on Instagram
    View this post on Instagram
Anyone who is a hardcore fan of Tamil action movies will testify to the fact that Arun Vijay is a force to be reckoned with, and the man keeps on reinventing himself while setting newer benchmarks with increasingly difficult fitness goals. His Greek God like physique, replete with a crazy, super defined set of six pack abs has created an altogether different standard, as far as fitness is concerned.Β
    1. Arya View this post on Instagram

    View this post on Instagram
The number one position rightfully goes to the one and only Arya. He has always been one of the fittest men in the Tamil film industry, but his recent transformation for the amazing 'Sarpatta Parambarai' has catapulted his fitness status right on to the top of the pile, and looks like there's no one who even comes close at this point. If he gets embroiled in an unexpected street fight, good luck to his opponent!
Have we missed out on anyone else who should have made this list? Please let us know in the comments.

Back when K3G was a super hit, there was a time when fans simply loved Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor’s great on-screen chemistry. While Hrithik was married soon after he entered the film industry, Kareena was single and a heartthrob. There were plenty of rumours of the two stars cosying up or dating. After working in movies like Mujhse Dosti Karogey and Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, fans and media mills actually started believing that the two were a thing indeed.

In an interview with Filmfare back then, she addressed the rumours and shared her personal take on dating married men in general. β€œPlease give me a break. I am neither besotted with married men nor will I have affairs with them. Married men would be detrimental to my career. I was more bothered that his marriage would be affected. For me, it was a professional hazard. First it was Hrithik, tomorrow it could be someone else. As long as I know the truth, I’m fine".

She further spoke about how it affected her mentally as well. β€œThe most shocking part about the articles linking me with Hrithik was the insinuation that I was willing to give up my career to run after him. Please! Not for a man, never!” she added.

After weeks of excitement, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises finally released the list of their retentions they have made ahead of the mega auction. From Virat Kohli to MS Dhoni to Rohit Sharma to Jasprit Bumrah some of their biggest names of Indian cricket have been retained by their respective franchises.
Every year, the IPL governing body increases the overall salary cap to spend on the players and normally people think that if a player is retained then he would be getting a better deal than his previous contract.
    View this post on Instagram
While that is true in most cases, it’s not a given and this year also we saw some of the big-ticket players agreeing to a huge pay cut in order to be a part of the same franchise. Not just Indian players but a couple of foreigners also took a huge pay cut for the sake of the team.Β
Here’s a list of four star players who took the biggest pay cut in IPL retentions:
MS Dhoni View this post on Instagram
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wanted to retain their inspirational leader as their first retention but the former India skipper urged the franchise to reduce his salary and make someone else the highest-paid player.
Eventually, the Chennai-based franchise handed Ravindra Jadeja Rs 16 crore contract while Dhoni, whose previous contract was Rs 15 crore, agreed to a 20 percent reduction in his salary, taking home Rs 12 crore every year.
Virat Kohli View this post on Instagram
Despite giving up captaincy, Kohli continued to be Royal Challengers Bangalore’s top-choice retention. With his previous contract worth Rs 17 crore, the Indian Test skipper was the highest-paid player in the last three editions.
With AB de Villiers hanging up his boots, RCB retained only three players - Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj and as per IPL salary cap guidelines they couldn’t offer him the same salary as last year. Hence, the Indian modern-day great agreed to a 12 percent pay cut, earning Rs 2 crore less.
Glenn Maxwell View this post on Instagram
The Australian all-rounder produced his best IPL performance ever and played a key role as the franchise reached the knockout stage in IPL 2021. The hard-hitting batter was bought by RCB in a mini-auction ahead of this year’s IPL for a whopping Rs 14.25 crore.
After exceeding all expectations, one would have expected Maxwell to get a similar contract but his salary has been reduced by 23 percent, agreeing to a new contract worthΒ  Rs 11 crore.Β
Sunil Narine View this post on Instagram
Despite playing a key role in Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) reaching the final in this year’s two-legged IPL, the West Indies spinner Sunil Narine took the biggest pay cut among all high-profile players.
The mystery spinner who used to earn Rs 8.50 crore till this year has agreed to nearly 30 percent pay cut. The two-time champions retained Narine as their fourth choice pick, giving him a contract worth Rs 6 crore.

Karan Johar's Ungli, featuring Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Randeep Hooda, Neil Bhoopalam, and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles, recently completed seven years of its release. On the special occasion, a poster of Ungli was shared on the official social media handles of Dharma Productions celebrating the film's seventh anniversary. As soon as the poster was shared online, netizens noticed that Kangana has been cropped out of it.
Yes, you read that right! The Tanu Weds Manu star has been digitally removed from the modified poster that reads, "7 Years Of Ungli". While other actors feature on it. "Unko pakadne ke liye pehle unke soch ko pakadna hoga #7YearsOfUngli @karanjohar @apoorva1972 @rensildsilva," Karan Johar-owned production house wrote a quote from the film in the caption and shared the poster on Dharma Productions' verified social media handles.

Kangana is yet to react to the same, however, social media users took a dig at the production house as well as Johar for this deletion. Replying to the post, a person wrote, "Y’all really just cropped out Kangana, have some shame KJo". Another user tweeted, "Kangana hate is so visible". While on Instagram, in the comments section, a few users sarcastically asked "where's Kangana?"Β
For the unversed, Ungli marks the only collaboration of Kangana and Karan till now. Helmed by Rensil D’Silva, the film was released in 2014 and failed to make a mark at the box office.Β Β
Later, during an appearance on Koffee With Karan with Saif Ali Khan in 2017, Kangana called KJo the "movie mafia" and the "flag-bearer of nepotism" which resulted in a long-running feud between them. Since then, the Queen actress has been accusing him of promoting star kidsΒ and sabotaging the careers of actors with no filmy connections.Β
On the professional front, Johar is busy with his next directorial venture titled Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani. Featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles, the much-awaited film is slated to release on February 10, 2023. On the other hand, Kangana has various interesting projects in her kitty including Tejas and Dhaakad.Β

After a pulsating draw in Kanpur, the focus has now shifted to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium as India take on New Zealand in the second Test match with the series on the line.
The hosts will be boosted by the return of their talismanic skipper Virat Kohli but the biggest question is who will be dropped on the bench. While the people on social media have decided that it should be Ajnkya Rahane, the team management might give the vice-captain yet another chance.
Mayank Agarwal is likely to be dropped for the second Test as Virat Kohli is returning to the side. (Source - PTI)
    β€” Johns. (@CricCrazyJohns) December 1, 2021
According to a PTI report, in order to protect Rahane, the axe could fall on opener Mayank Agarwal, who failed in both the innings of Kanpur Test, managing the scores of 13 and 17 respectively.
Agarwal who was India’s preferred choice for Test opener just a couple of seasons back has fallen down the pecking order, with the emergence of the likes of Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.
    View this post on Instagram
Agarwal was India’s fourth highest run-scorer in the inaugural World Test Championship cycle but has hit a lean patch ever since, not scoring a single fifty in his last 10 Test innings. He was supposed to open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma in England but got injured at the last time and Rahul came in as his replacement and grabbed the opportunity with both hands, making the spot his own.
The poor lad was not given a long rope unlike some of the senior pros Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara who, just like him, are also struggling to score runs on a consistent basis but their place in the side seems secure based on their past accolades.
So Mayank will be the bakra pic.twitter.com/217oleEqae
    β€” Guru (@okguru123) November 29, 2021
Many fans are not happy with this kind of double-standard within the group, where there is no set criteria for the selection and exclusion of a player and everything lacks transparency. Some of the disappointed fans even argued that Agarwal was paying the price because he didn’t belong to the β€˜Mumbai Lobby’ unlike Rahane who, despite his miserable run, seems to have more well-wishers.
Why will they always drop Mayank Agarwal, after just giving 1 match ? Just coz not frm Mumbai lobby ? #INDvsNZ @doddaganesha

He's injure before the eng series.. So kl played on his opening spot.
This series kl injured.. Mayank opened for 1 match, now they're dropping..
β€” Attend (@________39965) December 1, 2021Even some of the former players like Zaheer Khan and Aakash Chopra believe that given his dream debut there is no way Shreyas Iyer can be left out of the starting XI and the only possible option is dropping an opener in the form of Agarwal.
β€œThe middle-order headache for this Test has come after Iyer’s fantastic debut performance. Iyer made good use of his opportunity. Virat Kohli is sure to come in, so there needs to be space made in the middle-order,” Zaheer said on Cricbuzz.
β€œI think there is a bit more pressure on Pujara and that is not entirely performance-based. Have seen in previous instances that often an opener gets dropped. They might go in a direction and ask whether Pujara can open in these conditions, but there is no denying that there needs to be some shuffling.
β€œIyer should definitely play, there is absolutely no question about it. They either have to drop an opener or drop either one of Pujara or Rahane,” he added.
    View this post on Instagram
No doubt you want your openers to score more runs, especially in Indian conditions but the main problem for Team India is not the opening slot but the struggles of middle-order because two players who opened the innings in Kanpur are not even the first-choice openers.
Imagine you visit a doctor to treat your hand but he ends up treating your leg instead. This is exactly what the Indian fans would be feeling if the Indian management indeed dropped Agarwal to accommodate Kohli and save Rahane.
    View this post on Instagram
Normally players compete against only those who play at similar positions but now they have to outshine the whole team in order to secure their place because you never know what new logic the new management could come up with.

For the unversed, since a year, Fardeen has been on a body transformation spree. Earlier this year, in an interview with ETimes, he had revealed that he lost over 18 kgs within six months. Last year, the Fida actor had shared that he had lost weight, however, he needed to lose a few more kilos. His latest pictures prove that he has indeed achieved it and is looking his best now.Β
On the professional front, Fardeen was last seen in the 2010 film Dulha Mil Gaya co-starring Sushmita Sen and Shah Rukh Khan. After a long gap of around 12 years, he's all set to make his acting comeback next year. He has signed a thriller titled Visfot. It also features Riteish Deshmukh along with Fardeen. The actors had earlier shared screen space for Sajid Khan's Heyy Babyy in 2007.
Directed by Kookie Gulati (Abhishek Bachchan-starrer The Big Bull fame), the movie is said to be the official remake of Venezuelan film titled Rock, Paper, Scissors which was released in 2012. Bhushan Kumar's T-Series is bankrolling the project along with Sanjay Gupta's White Feather Films.
Besides Visfot, Fardeen will reportedly be a part of the No Entry sequel as well, which might be titled No Entry Mein Entry. The actor will be reuniting with Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor for the much-awaited sequel to the 2005 film that also featured Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Esha Deol, and Celina Jaitely as the leading ladies.Β
As per the latest buzz, Salman, Fardeen, and Anil will play triple roles and nine actresses will feature in the film. However, an official announcement is still awaited.
